Panic! At the Disco released its debut studio album ‘A Fever You Can't Sweat Out’ in 2005, which became certified double platinum in the US. Following in 2008, the band's album ‘Pretty. Odd.’ marked a significant departure from the band’s debut sound. 2011 brought the band’s 3rd album ‘Vices & Virtues’, which featured “The Ballad of Mona Lisa” and spent 10 consecutive weeks on the iTunes “Top Alternative Songs” chart. In 2013, the band released the album ‘Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!’, featuring “This Is Gospel”. Panic’s 2016 album ‘Death of a Bachelor’ spawned hits like the gold certified track "Hallelujah”. Most recently, the band released "Say Amen (Saturday Night)", the lead single from the 2018 studio album ‘Pray for the Wicked’.

+Brendon Urie Huh. I've been listening to this and identifying with it because I'm trans, but I'm FTM, which flips the entire meaning of the song. In particular, the line "Boys will be boys hiding in estrogen" goes from awesome to horrible very quickly.
If this is any indication of the point of view of the book, I think I'll pass on reading it. Though I'll decide to intentionally misinterpret this song to suit myself, because it's fun to listen to. :D

the trans character doesn't necessarily view herself as a woman and transitioned for superficial reasons. so she technically is a "boy hiding in estrogen". hiding her past self and whatever with a new identity, totally separate from the "old" her where she lived in tragedy, compared to her new one where she lives in the spotlight, in a new shade of tragedy. hope that helps some :0

This album is a complete masterpiece, beginning to end. How else can I describe this? I've never (and am yet to) hear anything like this. I'm so honored to have this album enter my teen years, because it definitely changed me forever.

Yessss. This album came out when I was 12 and it helped define my music tastes to this day. I used to pop the CD in my shitty little radio that had a CD player and just jam in my room alone. Hearing these songs now, 13 years later, it’s like I’m that 12 year old in my room again.

For those of you who want to know, "Aubergine Dreams" is a reference to the book that this song is heavily based off of, "Invisible Monsters." "Aubergine Dreams" is the kind of Eye pencil that one of the main characters use.

Another fun fact, the book is by Chuck Palahniuk, an author who was referenced again in this album with the song “The Only Difference Between Suicide and Martyrdom is Press Coverage”. The title is a direct quote from his novel, Survivor.

Relistening this song after taking a look at "invisible monsters". Despite not liking this genre of music these days, I'm so thankful for the tribute. Also whatever you say on the lyrics won't make sense unless you read it. Everything put so well together as reference

Camera follows normal teenager at school all through their day. When the first chorus begins, it is revealed that this kid is attached to marionette strings and there is a puppet master controlling him. "Have some composer, where is your posture?" The puppeteer snaps the kid up to stand up straight, and this continues through the the rest of the day. Each time the teenager feels freedom, the puppet master takes back control. (Bonus: puppeteer says, "when I say shotgun you say wedding. Shotgun!" And makes the kid respond with "wedding!")
