Nice video, but you apparently ran into a common problem with the 2trk/ 4/trk switch. There are 4 ears holding the switch together in the back, they oftentimes become loose, and after that there is a intermittent audio problem. What I did with mine is take the headstack off of the deck, (3 silver phillips screws) and gently pull the headstack off, being sure to not scratch the capstan. Then I pulled the black plastic cover off in the back and used a pair of longnose pliers to tighten/bend the 4 ears that hold the switch together. Also, a squirt of deoxit didn't hurt .
wow, these videos are so good. Thank you so much for sharing. I am in the process of changing the top panel and will rebuild the kit from zero. hope you will cover other adjustments, especially changing the cabling on the head block. Congrats.
Nice video. Just did these adjustments on my machine. Lucky you your unit was recapped. I had to recap mine. Took a while!! 😀 I’ve done bias and FR on my deck too. I’ll share my measurements with you if you want to compare units!
Sounds good Doug! I am still waiting on a test tape to arrive. In the meantime I'm shooting a video about my 1921 Victrola that snapped and broke on New Year's Eve. I'm taking apart this relic-- it is beyond cool. I can't wait to share it. I'm 1/2 way done and waiting for parts to arrive. Upping my UA-cam game in 2019!

Very interesting snd informative video 👍
Reel to reel is such a cool medium. To me, it is even more personal than vinyl. :)
Very very cool but very very expensive to do properly.
Don't I know it! $500 an album for the good stuff. Yikes!
