This Skeletor looked so cool. One of the best ideas Mattel ever had in the 80s. Skeletor was a true beast physique wise to.
So glad Mattel updated the armor. The original DB Skeletor figure looked like it had on a Sports Bra.
Also, for people griping about action features...to make EVERY figure with an action feature would skyrocket costs of production. A company like Mattel, which uses Chinese Sweatshops to make the toys, and a Canadian company to ship them, works as cheap as possible.
I wish they made the dragon articulated and the chain long enough so that you could pose Skeletor sat with the dragon on his lap like an old James Bond villian.
For me the best Skeletor ever, maybe because I only had this one as a kid;)
It's weird that they didn't at least make the mouth open to simulate it blasting.
Haha the baby Skeletor comment was hilarious. The dragon looks like its been hanging out, with the Super Mario Bros. movie version of Yoshi...

Pixel Dan, I am surprised to see that you have not reviewed the MOTU Origins Dragon Blaster Skeletor.
The problem here seems to be that the 4H really dropped the ball on this one and forgot they were designing an action figure and instead made a statue updating the vintage figure's look. The dragon appears to have really suffered because of this. Even if they had've made him a solid piece, but instead used the leg placement of the vintage figure's dragon; it could still have worked as a standalone figure. Never thought I'd see the day when a screwup would be the 4H's fault and not Mattel's.
Skeletor's Dragon has a smile like Mileena.
Have you tried using the head that came with battle armor Skeletor? That would make it even more like the vintage figure. Also I wish they had just made the green collar on the dragon removable. At lest then you could have him off the chain.

Interested now seeing how you can recreate vintage design. So what was the Classics based on? Filmation looks?
Is the skin tone similar to Keldor's since it is lighter than Skeletor's?
Totally agree about the blue coloring. It looks great on that Skeletor. I wished the original was blue like Faker. I still like the head on the original though. The two-pack Skeletor (with Lex Luthor) just doesn't measure up.
You forgot to say that his right hand is the same open one from The Original Skeletor figure.

Great review! Thank you! I really like Dragon Blaster Skeletor, but the smudgy-painted black plastic limbs and ugly dragon head made me want to customise this one badly. I managed to swap the head, armour, and boots over onto an "Original" Skeletor, but I still need to do something about that dragon head. I don't know what went on there, but it's terrible.
You know what'd be an even better combination? The Dragon Blaster body with the vs. Lex Luthor harness and head!
you could use filmation skellator waste belt to make all purple armour
I hope we get Terror Claw Skeletor. That was my favorite Skeletor variant.
It is sculpted around the neck and painted. It's not a separated item.
Dan, are you sure it's the black plastic from underneath his painted hands or is it black paint from the swords handle? My reissue skeletor has black paint chips on his hands from the swords handle! Either way, not happy is painting black plastic on these figures now.

Kind of a pain that Mattel takes your extras away. Do they ever send you the extra bits, or is Horde Prime still the Mighty Spector?

Hey Dan you should check out figure realm I'm gonna make my own marvel legends/ four horseman of the apocalypse skeleton figure using a toy biz wrarrl figure a life of cloth for the cape and hood and maybe a intergalactic skeleton head if its big enough. I'll send u a pic once its finished

Will we ever get a weapons pack with a Havoc Staff in it? Im still hoping so, my battle armor skeletor needs one to be like his vintage counterpart. Why did they put that axe in there?

OH EM GEE! It looks so awesome. It's like The Horsemen and Mattel took how I thought the toy looked back then and molded it into this beautiful looking figure. I know that's their intend, but no other figure captures this for me like this one. ^^
Is the figure very back heavy? will it be a challenge to get Skeletor to stand?
No my friend, i'm not saying that i want it to be articulated. The little dragon is just fine the way it is. I was just joking about the politics of Mattel, that would charge us $40 dollars or more for the figure, with the excuse that it would be super expensive to articulate the little dragon.

Haha poor Mattel indeed. One has to feel bad, for such a poverty stricken multi-billion dollar company that has been around since 1945.... Mattel could barely make ends meet at $30 a figure starting in 2013... My condolences goes out to them... Then again knowing Mattel, they would probably charge me for shipping it to them. Hopefully they don't also charge for sarcasm....

8 figures was ruined by the Black Plastic Morbo back in 2012.
After this fail, after the Digital River poor quality, after the Mighty Spector and after the Shadow Weaver psychological blackmail Mattel was wining about low sales...
