A nice honest review! (some beautiful images) :)😊
Thanks! 😊
After watching a few different reviews and reading some tests of this Mitakon 200mm f/4,
it seams it's not just that it's not the sharpest lens out there, but it's not really that sharp at all.
That's probably why they are already lowering it's launch price from $650 to $499.
I wouldn't use it for insect macro, but for floral dreamy macro compositions it may have a nice vintage vibe.
It may do very good at floral photography.
No Fuji x-mount? Also, I wonder if they do a plastic hood for professional photographers who need to protect their lenses in the field? Metal hoods are a flawed concept.
I just reviewed that lens too 😊 the working distance is definitely the benefit it brings to the table. It’s probably best for easily spooked large insects, at 1:2 🎉
Great video, did not see this lens on your link to their website
It is now, they just added it.
Good review but I would be interested in a comparison with other options like the Canon RF100-400 (0.41 native but also accepts the NiSi close up lens). That gives decent sharpness, auto diaphragm and image stabilization at the price of speed. I disagree with your statement that it is not suitable for use with flash. Flash does not have to provide all the exposure and flash fill can help especially if you have a high synch speed camera. If you think there is no depth of field with a 200mm macro, try a 400mm on tubes. I don't own the NiSi (yet). For dreamy flowers, there is a better option in the Laowa 105 f/2 T3.2 STF with or without tubes depending on the flower. I am convinced there is a need for a decent, sharp, long focal length macro. There is no need for f/4 and the weight it adds to the package. f/5.6 might sell better than f/8 but lighter and easier to use would make a lot of difference so I'd opt for slow. I have the Laowa 85mm f5.6 2:1 and would like to see them go long and slow while keeping sharpness suitable for honeybee size subjects.
Interesting lens! If I didn't have to be very careful with weight I'd look at it more closely.
love it ❤
They don't even have that lens listed in the link.
It is now, they just added it.
It doesn’t appear to be available for Micro 4/3 as stated in your thumbnail. Pity-that would have given a 400mm equivalent!
Sorry, that was a mistake ... Ive fixed it now.
@@StewartWoodArt No worries. I got excited, lol.
@@weekendwanderer5514 I would have gotten excited as well lol.
