I feel Stephen getting -1 for not casting his commander isn't in the spirit of what the rule is meant for, he cast it in the way that the card is meant to be cast and the rule is to punish "Commander for the Colors" decks not to punish Commanders with odd mechanics such as Hakkon and Yuriko, Tiger's Shadow.

The -1 comment was because the previous week he didnt cast his general, he shouldnt get -1 this week. They were joking that he had a pretty decent chance to get -1 this week as well.
I understand where ur coming from but he played the card knowing that there was a possibility to not play it. Thats on him. Its not like they did Randomonium and he got it. He chose the Handicap so I dont feel it would be a bad thing for him to get a -1 point.

Woo, Jon picked and played my favouite EDH deck! Nin's Explosions has a special place in my heart as one of the first EDH decks I ever made, and I still have it built to this day, so it was great seeing it played on VS! I was a little disappointed it didn't really get to do its thing and cast any Explosions though; Jon being so far ahead on points (yet not ahead enough that Justin still had a chance to surpass him, as he ended up doing) made him into a huge target and really exposed the slow, clunky, gimmicky nature of the deck. And while the Repercussion+Blasphemous Act combo was cool, it's not really the focus of the deck, and ultimately might have been what killed Jon since it made Jeremy into his permanent enemy + put Jeremy low enough that Justin had the easy decision to Exsanguinate for the double kill. Oh well. Stephen's maniacal laughter at Scornful Egotist is exactly why I play the deck though. :) Thanks #CMDRVS crew!

Ok maybe I shouldn't be advertising this deck on here, but I haven't seen a Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord deck done right or done at all so here's the link: tappedout.net/mtg-decks/he-went-to-jarad-semi-competitive/ This is a midrange deck focused on the graveyard, so it has elements of nic-fit, reanimator, and tooth and nail / survival of the fittest. The big combo is to find up Minion of the Wastes, have everyone else at less than 40 life, and then turn 9 kill by spending 40 life and using Jarad's ability to simultaneously kill everyone.
Possibly for gameplay reasons; he was far enough behind in the points total where winning the game wouldn't matter, so setting up a miserable lockdown where people couldn't beat him and just had to sit back and die (or not, Repercussions still would have got him) probably wouldn't have resulted in a fun game for anybody. Instead he got to put threats into play while not being unsurmountable.
I know tribal is a worn out theme but i would love to see a tribal video with the restriction that it cannot be a creature type that has ever been "featured" as a tribe
Why does Jeremy keep cracking his treasures and then leaving his lands untapped for the entire rotation? He could have saved so much extra mana over those turns if he'd tapped his lands before using treasures...

#TeamParnell. Justin, I have a deck for you. Now I know you hate Kamigawa, but I don't think the other three really understand why you hate it and they need to be instilled with fear of it. Reki, the History of Kamigawa is mono-green storm. You're gonna cast many spells each turn and keep drawing cards so you can keep casting legends. This is by far my favorite deck to play and I really want you to show off this underplayed Commander. 1/1/2011 Players can lose more life than they have. For example, say you’re playing a multiplayer game in which one of your opponents has 3 life and your other opponent has 10 life. If you cast Exsanguinate with X of 4, your opponents will wind up at -1 life and 6 life, respectively. You’ll gain 8 life.
Can someone respond to this with the amount of treasures made by smothering tithe, I am WAY too lazy to count it all up and whoever does will get the blessings of phelddagrif for all eternity:)) also very interested to see how OP that card was this game
@@Big_Dai basically completely unedited commander content is just painful to watch. I say this as someone that has been watching it since the the 1v1 commander days. It just drags on. MTG Muddstah and the Command zone have much better content and in a much more digestible size.

another "Jeremy whines after making a power play" game, if they don't "destroy you" after you put out all that stuff, you just win, so they either dismantle you or they lose, welcome to the game.
Sometimes I feel he is justified for feeling upset but this is not one of those times. An example would be the 100th episode where he cast boundless realms.
@@andrebogardus8098 he whines about alot, and he isn't very good in general at the game and constantly fails to pay attention to things that should be happening with his cards, the others know this so much that they subtlety have changed their behaviors, in this game notice they constantly say "i've drawn a card" because otherwise he'd miss all his triggers.
I'd have to go back and check the tapes (which I'm not going to), but I wonder in how many games is Jeremy the first one to "go off" so-to-speak before he becomes archenemy and gets blown out by the table. One of the unspoken truths of commander is the first player to go off doesn't win (unless they win that turn). This game was particularly bad for him because he's playing a commander that had literally been giving his opponents more cards, so when he's the first to pop off they all have tons of resources to deal with him.
@@PiroMunkie well, and he chose the wrong cards with his defense of the heart, and after doing so didn't need to overextend with Blightsteel, but did so anyways.
Jeremy is complaining here about the pattern of him not doing anything, then making a big play, then dying. Well, if you know what the problem is, you should work on a solution instead of complaining. If you're playing like that, either make sure that your play really is big enough to win, or make a smaller play that doesn't turn the entire table against you. In other words, Jeremy fails at politics. If triggering Defense of the Heart doesn't immediately win you the game, maybe hold back a bit on the creatures you find. In fact, Elesh and Avacyn specifically were a terrible duo to search for in this instance, since they're both hated cards that turn people against you (granted, Avacyn much more so than Elesh), but it would actually take Jeremy quite a lot of turns to win with them. In short, the only thing he accomplished was to paint a giant target on his head.
So... No commander damage bonus point in my opinion. Point of commander damage is "I know you're not dead by loss of life... But I've hit you so hard with my commander that we're going to count that as a kill" Stephen was dead to combat damage, commander or not. Commander damage kills are holy things, let's not besmirch them.
This was the most miserable drawn out end to a game you guys have ever had. The last HOUR is just nobody having a good time. This is not what this format is about. Terrible episode. Do better, please.

Seeing Haakon, I'd LOVE to see an "unconventional Commanders" episode. Like Haakon vs Mishra vs Phage vs Iwamori or something along those lines.
Could even go with the return of Tetzimoc, but with how Stephen played him I'm not sure anyone would like that.

That’s not the way exsanguinate works. Each player loses X life, regardless of if they have less than X life to lose.
While true, it fortunately didn't end up mattering.
