Do not buy this game!! I brought it about 12 months ago. Now after 2500 hrs of play I realise that its winter again - where did the year go ? Do not buy this game unless you want to spend the best $20 in your life. It's the best game I've played in 35 years of gaming. And the video didn't even mention the large active modding community. Good video, I like the humor.
for me the plain vanilla are just a taste of the game or a demo mode if you will, to check if you like or not... play trought the basic game and if you like, then you got full bobs and angels mods and lots of other nice mods to get the game really going with its complexity... its kind of amazing how easi this game are to learn and still how hard to master if with all the mods that makes it harder... just the little thing called circuit networks that are a game within the game if you will, are amazing how you can use to really tweek the performance of you factory, and use just as much as you want
the reviews are extremely positive on the game but it's not well known or sold that much. If people decide to play factorio they are mostly going to loke it ;)
It has about 900000 owners on steam (steamspy.com/app/427520). Additionally hey sell it on their homepage, on Good Old Games and probably a few other platforms so I would guess it sold well over a million times. For an indie game that´s not even finished I would say those are pretty good numbers.
they have sold more than 1mil copies while in alfa, and have not started their marketing campaign. The whole mass effect series have sold 7 million (one of the big games that had a lot of sales/advertisement for comparison)
I have 410+ hours in the game. Your factory does two things to my brain: 1. Sending the urge of removing all burner mining drills and replacing them with electric ones 2. Trying to tap all of the ore patches. But it's working, and I spent my first 60 hours trying to figure out things from scratch, didn't even play the campain, and now that I go back to my world, I find it hard to believe that I even got over oil production, let alone start a rocket. We've all been there...
ever done full angel and bobs mods? if not, you have another thing comming lol. factorio with no mods are childsplay compared , and those mods makes it really complicated. for those who dosent know, vanilla only has copper and iron, and you mine those and trow them into a own to get plates.. with full angels and bobs, its increased to 6 different core ore you have to mine(saphirite, jivolite, stiratite, crotinnium, rubyte and bobmonium), and from there you got aditional 10 or 11 steps if i remember correctly you can choose to do just to make plates out of those, and in adition to copper and iron, you get silver, aluminium, gold, cobalt, nickel, lead, quartz, tin, titanium, tungsten and zinc, and this is just the ore and easi compared to oil setup witch are a nightmare of its own, but so darn funn taking time with the game and figure out how to make it best work and so on
I'm doing a playthrough with angels and bobs. The timer shows just over 3 days of in-game time and I'm still just migrating from the first bootstrap main bus base to a proper 4-lane train network with various districts for the chemical district, science, mall, etc. The only thing I'm considering is adding the logistic train network mod to help organizing the endless piles of incoming and outgoing stations...

Bobs and Angels is nice but try Pyaddons or the PyCoal set. I have started using engineering programs just to keep up. Sometimes I go study for a test because its easier. I wish however there is some support to properly integrate Bob, Angels and PyAddons together.
@surglush Now when you mentioned PyAlien life, I thought it was just for extra tech. But I added it and damn this increased complexity so much. Im kinda feel bored with it, like it doent make sense that it needs to be a blocker in science, couldnt it just have been a microbial sience on its own like the tokens needed for bio in bobs. And then give machines like algae plants and ore processing facilities like a farm that uses Swanelle oneidenisis bacteria to process iron ore and algae to give pure iron and oxygen. Then less iron is used for plates, also low energy costs. Maybe some pyrolosis of algae to form oil(although I think there is some in bobs) But Im not far into the mod so Il keep my hopes up. Pyanadon is my favorate modset. Then BA.
Life is now being automated by my factory. Currently I'm about 70 hours in, and see hundreds more in the future. Although, I must say that I picked up Oxygen Not Included, and it's a lovely title as well.
I wish all reviews were this good. "Here is what this game has to offer. Here's what you can get from it. If you don't like A B and C don't play this game." Peppered with a few interesting examples of each game aspect. Straightforward, simple, and effective. Most review spend too much time on BS that does not have to do with the core experience of the game. Great job dude, you earned a sub from me for sure!

How much time have you personally spent in the vanilla game before you decided mods was needed? 4. What would you say is the replay value of the vanilla game? As great as mods are, I always judge a game by the vanilla version. A lot of people say the mods are great. If a game has to rely so much on the modding community, I'm hesitant to buy it. I love this review along with the terarria one, i actually bought terarria after seeing that video. you're so exited about the games you love. And i will get this game right now too. right up my alley
terarria is the only other game i have on steam with more hours on it than this ( 1001 compared with 1197) both are truly Brilliant! games. worth every penny, so much so i buy them for my irl friends just to support the devs more and get more people playing =)
I've watched thousands of videos on UA-cam about hundreds of games over the years. You my friend are the funniest fuckin guy out there. I'm already deep into this game, but your review was great and hilarious! Great shit man, keep it up!
I was having second thoughts about this game, but you just buttered up my eggroll dude, and you're also so underrated holy shit man, you deserve way more subs
Truly one of the greatest games I've ever played. Yeah, my first attempts were full of horrendous mistakes and inefficiencies too, so don't rag on this guy for that. One of the major points of this game is to get better at automating things. You tear it all down and start again, or just re-roll a new game, and you get better each time. 350 hours in and I'm only just getting to grips with oil cracking ratios; only just getting trains to be a thing, etc, etc etc. The reviewer has certainly grasped the concept of Factorio and he clearly appreciates it. If he keeps playing, he'll get better - we all do. Cut him some slack all you leet pros out there. Peace :)
As said someone else, I thought this was a crappy amateur video, but actually what you're saying is well written and good entertainment. Your channel, sir, is underrated.
@@peterknutsen3070 yeah, people claimed that they had less trouble to stop smoking than stopping Factorio. Well, how much truth there is to it is uncertain.
For me, the best aspect of the game is creating my own blueprints that all fit together like puzzle pieces in an elegant solution. Managing to compact and fit all these different systems in the same satisfying grid layout. Oh, and trains. I love building huge intersections where a dozen 4 to 10 section trains can speed through with minimal delay. How one intersection stop is exactly long enough for this 10 long train to not be blocking the track that crosses behind it. Currently experimenting with quadrupedal lanes to have different factory functions running on parallel but completely disconnected track systems. Going to try to build an 8 directional intersection with quadruple tracks in a huge spiderweb or spiraling pattern. Going to be massive. It's my kink now. Don't kink shame!
Awesome review to the awesome game. I know DEV guys personaly and i must show them your review (if they didn't see it them selfs already). Wonderful video man. Keep up the good work and keep your factory automated. (btw. i have 123.hours in the game and i still didn't beat it also, so don't worry about that you haven't beat it too)
Later, you can set down a blueprint for a factory that will produce the pieces you need for building a factory, using bots to build the base real quick for you, and then using the products from this factory to build more. You literally begin automating the automation.
Subbed. Clicked because I love factorio and I just wanted to see someone else talk about how awesome it is because nobody I know will play it with me... I gotta say, your delivery is great, jokes are funny, post production seems fantastic but idk jack about post really so WOO! Cool Channel Dude!
As someone who has dug thousands of hours into this game since version 0.11, this was a very well done review, and... keep trying to get better at the game, that's all I'll say.
This game in addition to being awesome is also a cold reminded of our own humanity. Arrive on a planet, invent tools to strip the resources with, and weapons to kill any animals who may object to your presence. Sounds familiar?
This is a fantastic review. I do want to mention one thing though. The aliens are not evil. The player is. After all, you are invading their world and coating it in a cloud of smog.
Dude you fucking nailed it. I had two friends tell me to play this game and they could not explain it to me. This makes total sense and now I know why I should give it a go.
You can array the belts in such a way it is just satisfying. But the best thing in this game is that even after al this fun. You can install mods, you can write mods and you can play on modded servers. (p.s. The modding is really simple via the lua they will give you. I do wish there was more info on the internet about modding factor.)
I am now at over 400 hours on my map, over 700 hours total. Recently added bobs mods, wich add a ton of new materials and new tech. Now it goes beyond steel with titanium, tungsten, aluminium and more.
"The aliens wiil try and mostnof time succeed at wrecking your factory" Me, after cleaning ground (slaughtering natives) in a km radius: what did you say?
Lol seriously. Best method of base defense is genocide with prejudice. Build walls and laser turrets, you say? How does artillery trains sound instead?
Gained my sub at “Open-world-resource-management-base-building-tower-defense game” 😂 This title has been on my wishlist since it appeared on Steam, propably I’ll look into it more carefully now. Thanks for the video 🤘🏻
Damn, this is one of the best reviews i’ve seen! Also, your voice kinda reminds me of the MGS:V tapes voice, which i really love, thanks for this awesome review!
This game has the right amount of optimization, resource grind and snowballing (which I usually pair with a second monitor, so I can watch a movie in the meanwhile) then not pay attention to the movie because I could just optimize this part a bit more.
7:35 cracks me up, This is really hilarious. Ive only played the game for 300 hours (probably more considering I got the cracked version) and i loved it.
DO NOT LET YOUR POWER RUN OUT. if you do, chances are, you don't have enough power production, and the power just slowed down, slower and slower, until it fucking dies. then, with the materials you've amassed, you must make a larger, more powerful power plant. This happened to me, and I genuinely spent a few hours making a nuclear plant so I could revive my factory and keep playing. it was stressful as all hell, but it was the most fun I'd had in that world. Oh, btw, don't get attached to your world. You did SOMETHING wrong, and that will come back to bite you in the ass 20 hours later. You'll then learn how to fix said problem, but can't because, well, it's a problem that has to be fixed, then you'll start fresh so you don't make that mistake ever again. it's happened to me so many times.
Really nice analyse ! got the same feeling than you factorio is clearly underrated ! :/ You didn't even mention the mods and the great community trying to optimise everything to the edge in order to share setups with others players ! Devs are also really active on this game !
My girlfriend broke up with me because of this game and I didn't even notice.

Dude you deserve more subs. What a great video!
Playing it for years and it never gets boring, worth double the money!
As someone who has dug thousands of hours into this game since version 0.11, this was a very well done review, and... keep trying to get better at the game, that's all I'll say.
Subscribed. You are one hell of a great youtuber, keep it up dude
First time on your channel. Great video - I'm impressed (and amused)!
Very great review of the game that hits the gist of the game in its essence. Well done, keep up the good content!
Dude you fucking nailed it. I had two friends tell me to play this game and they could not explain it to me. This makes total sense and now I know why I should give it a go.
TriggerNipplesGaming be careful, the fans call it cracktorio for a reason.
Great fucking review. Great humor, great actual information. I think I'm too drunk to elaborate but fuck it, you killed it my dude.
I have played this for over 300 hours. On one save. This game is magical
"Nothing says GIANT testicles then installing a new electrical grid" awesome!
only 2,334 views?
wtf is wrong with this plane of existence
YOU NEED MORE VIEWS AND SUBS
You can array the belts in such a way it is just satisfying.
But the best thing in this game is that even after al this fun. You can install mods, you can write mods and you can play on modded servers.
(p.s. The modding is really simple via the lua they will give you. I do wish there was more info on the internet about modding factor.)
I am now at over 400 hours on my map, over 700 hours total.
Recently added bobs mods, wich add a ton of new materials and new tech.
Now it goes beyond steel with titanium, tungsten, aluminium and more.
Yes, Factorio is an underrated game...
9.6/10 on steam is apparently underrated...
Yup.
he meant in publicity and sales..............like should have sold millions of copies ...like that
Me: I think my life is interesting and
exciting
My life: 8:45
Have to agree about you actually being good with your presentation, you are like... an underrated channel.
amazing review! im going to buy factorio RN! thank u wish you more fame, you deserve it!
"The aliens wiil try and mostnof time succeed at wrecking your factory"
Me, after cleaning ground (slaughtering natives) in a km radius: what did you say?
I didnt really understand that because i can count on one hand the number of times the pests damaged my factory and i would have fingers left over.
Lol seriously. Best method of base defense is genocide with prejudice. Build walls and laser turrets, you say? How does artillery trains sound instead?
Gained my sub at “Open-world-resource-management-base-building-tower-defense game” 😂
This title has been on my wishlist since it appeared on Steam, propably I’ll look into it more carefully now.
Thanks for the video 🤘🏻
Very entertaining review good sir. If I did not already have the game then I would buy it. Thanks again. Oh and your excitement is contagious.
Wow dude you're a really sick reviewer, subscribed :D Thanks
You need more subscribers. Honestly I thought I was watching a stablished youtuber, just because of your style and editing.
this video poped up in my feed for the third time now
Man the diablo2 like artstyle makes this so mysterious.. epic
Damn, this is one of the best reviews i’ve seen! Also, your voice kinda reminds me of the MGS:V tapes voice, which i really love, thanks for this awesome review!
This review reflects all my opinions. have a sub
"The Martian" taken to it's logical extreme
2000 hours in and all I can say is FREAKING APPROVED!
I've already played hundreds of hours of Factorio but I watched this video and it had me cracking up!
The factory must grow to feed the factory.
Awesome channel, just subbed thanks for the vid. Fist time viewer, but im going to stick around for a while :D
Now the game has reached 1 millions copies sold I believe, so its gone a long way, and I hope your channel does the same! Your content is great!
I don't know why the guy at 8:48 saying "we need more power?" sounds exactly like Sam Harris, but I'm buying this game right now
This game has the right amount of optimization, resource grind and snowballing (which I usually pair with a second monitor, so I can watch a movie in the meanwhile) then not pay attention to the movie because I could just optimize this part a bit more.
This was a great review. Finally someone that tries to be funny and is actually fucking funny. Subscribed.
i love how bad you are at efficiency, this is pure love
You should do an updated review with the space explanation mod on
I finished this game once, I've started a few games since then and I really want to continue playing but I can't work up the motivation
this should been the official Factorio trailer, this is epic!
Congrats on 1000 subscribers
Nice video, but wtf is that base?
good video, good channel, im subscribing, i just love factorio, and your revieew was awesome
Great video! I'll buy this during the summer.
Best review I've ever watched in my life. And yes, love Factorio, so much to do, you barely scratched the surface lol
Great review. Might buy the game now. Thanks for the no BS!
Really nice analyse ! got the same feeling than you factorio is clearly underrated ! :/ You didn't even mention the mods and the great community trying to optimise everything to the edge in order to share setups with others players ! Devs are also really active on this game !
