They certainly are an intriguing development in audio and an attractive option for getting rid of all the speakers and wires that spouses seem hard wired to hate. For that reason alone it’s worth it to keep reviewing them!!
Your audiophile vocabulary is incredibly visceral. Extremely useful review, especially how you described the top end as being “clean but not glassy”, this was my main concern. I can’t imagine there are many people who could have described this so well/understandably. 🙏
I have sold my DeVialet amp/speaker combo and I am looking to replace it with the Naim. I had a listen at my audio shop and compared to the MacIntosh and Dali equivalents I can tell you that Naim's MuSo2 sounds by far better. Being a retired person, not being at home many months a year, this will surely fill all my needs for TV and music listening...at a fraction of my DeVialet setup. Naim sounds plenty good enough to satisfy my needs. Thanks for your review, very to the point if I may add.
Thank you Andrew Robinson. You hit the nail on the head with saying the best HiFi is the one you use. Since moving house, placement of my B&W 604 S3 speakers meant they were in a room that I would rarely listen to music in. Switching to a Naim Mu-so 2, partially due to your review, I’ve sacrificed very little in terms of sound quality, but gained so much more in usability.
Hello Mr Robinson, I've been in possession of this excellent music system for 2 weeks now. From minute 7 you get straight to the point. I, too, belonged to this sort of so-called High Ender who looked for every little change in the sound. That's over now, because now I'm just enjoying the music. For true music enjoyment, I use the Focal Celestee on the Naim Atom - Headphone Edition.
Good review guys, I think the Mu-So is certainly for music lovers who maybe have a full separates system but also want something that is fuss free to deliver music without having to do the whole "sit down in front of two speakers and listen" type exercise. The sound is superb but you don`t have to give it your full attention like some traditional separates
I'd love to see Naim do a 'wider' version of the Mu-So in the future. They've really captured this niche in the market, and it truly is 'future-fi'. If they can continue to build out their platform in the future to include 'wireless surrounds' they could take a massive chunk out of Sonos' marketshare imo.
I have 2 Naim Cube V2s. We have a 2 story house and the 1st floor is pretty open and large. The problem I've had with normal stereo systems is that they can't fill a large space without some areas being too loud and others not loud enough. Then there is the whole which channel are you standing near to issue. I prefer mono which is what the cubes do and by placing them as I have the entire 1st floor (minus bedrooms) is filled with sound at a pleasing and satisfying volume level. Wherever you are sitting or standing or as you move about, the sound is the same and its great. They don't take up much room and they look nice so they don't interfere with the wife's decorating. Upstairs is the bonus room which is a home theater with the normal stuff.
I may never replace my current gear because I stopped chasing that dragon years ago but I love hearing about the options should I ever have to. Your reviews let me keep up without feeling like I have to drop cash on 90% of what you showcase. Don’t stop doing what you’re doing.
Andrew Robinson I did buy those EarFun buds on a whim this morning based on your review but 50 bucks is a tolerable impulse purchase that gives me a chance to put the sound I hear to the adjectives you use to describe it. Call it acoustic research. Ha ha. Have a good day, eh! 🇨🇦
Andrew Robinson My EarFun buds arrived today. You were right. A bit bass heavy but overall amazing sound for $49. Try a track by Rush called Mystic Rhythms. It’s one of my headphone reference tracks and will knock your socks off. Also, Jacob Collier - Moon River. 5000 tracks of just his voice. Stunning on the right pair of cans. Thanks for the great review.
Thanks for the comment. Do you still like yours? I'm thinking of picking one up mainly to use as a TV soundbar and to enjoy some music from time to time 👌
Totally agreed. Today with so much Streaming services a pair of WiFi smart speaker always on and ready to play is the absolute convinience! The best investment for value for money and enjoyment! Great review!
Just purchased my first ever Naim product - the Mu-So Generation 2nd Generation - reduced from AU$3,000 to AU$1,800 so looking forward to it and also purchased the Terracotta and Peacock grilles. Also just purchased the Naim Qb2 2nd generation - reduced from AU$1,800 to AU$990.
@@SajaiBaby yes love it - sounds amazing and built like a tank - no plastic - all metal. Makes all the other Bluetooth speakers seem like plastic toys.
this is just the type of system to use as a soundbar and amazing speaker if you want an all in one. all clean installation and great sound of course its not as high end as reference speakers but for a living room think its enough
Having owned and thoroughly enjoyed the first gen Muso (kept by my ex when we split up 😔) I immediately went and bought the gen 2, which is better but personally I dont think it warrants an upgrade if you have the first gen. I test drove all of its rivals before I bought it and this was easily the best sounding all-in-one package at the money! The sound that comes out of such a small package defies belief! I agree with Andrews review, keep up the good work!👌🏽
I think speakers like this maybe not the future, but definitely have tapped a big market. I think there are all types of audiophiles out there with all sorts of preferences. And i think soundbars are a great product for people looking for big sound in more compact packages or discreet? Personally for me i like a traditional setup of two speaker (2.1 specifically) setup for... 2 channel listening.
Bought one of these for my bedroom and it’s brilliant. Not something I’d buy for my living room but something my daughter said she’d have in her living room as suits how she listens to music. Sound for my room is great, design is great and functionality is great.. unlike Andrew I prefer the inputs where they are.
I just bought the Muso I for my living room (around 170 sq ft) sat below my TV just like what you have here. I am a strict minimalist but quality conscious, so I wanted something decent and simple as this for my bachelor pad. I've not had the time to try it but I should be happy!
First of all: This review played no small part in me ordering a Muso 2 yesterday. So my thanks to Andrew and Kristi for continuing to craft helpful and informative reviews! Our main living space is a challenge to properly place speakers due to lots of windows and only having a small corner area for A/V furniture. We’ve gone from an old Bose surround system, to 2-channel tower speakers, to a passive soundbar that we are currently testing out. None of these have worked out for us. Either the speaker placement wasn’t right for our listening positions or just the sound was not satisfying. Even though music is a priority in our space, I’ve had the (narrow) mindset that I always needed a multi-channel receiver for my various sources. The Ambeo almost dismantled that mindset, but it’s physically too large for our corner space. Now that we’ve found more flexible corner A/V furniture, the Muso 2 will be the perfect all-in-one solution for us. Hopefully, this description helps clear up somewhat who would use this kind of speaker and why.
I actually considered the first generation Muso for a living room setup. No TV or screen connected. This type of speaker reminds me of the stereo consoles from the 70's. It is meant to blend into the home.
I know the Mu-so gen 1 is still offered and is about $600 cheaper (I think) compared to gen 2, but for me the HDMI input has been gaming changing! But from a style standpoint they are both stunners!
I'm owning both the Mu-So2 (Bentley version) and QB2. Agree, Music production is unbeatable and Addictive !! As for Movie, correct too. There's other better choices out there, which I am using for Movies. Ace Review !!
I enjoy all of your reviews but you were right about the "controversy" this would stir, the comments are almost as much fun to read as the review was to watch. I think also people have to come to terms with the fact that these days it's rare to find a genuinely bad product at a several hundred dollar price point. Maybe something else is better, but that's why we compare. It was nice of Dennon to toss you that lemon as a demonstration for these folk.
I have a MuSo2 and a QB2. I’ve had them for a while. I love them. I use them much more than my Magnepans, for all the reasons given. The newest AppleTV with spatial audio is also a game changer for movies. It’s just wonderful to live with. I even travel with them: my spouse and I don’t live in the same state, but we often have long visits together: I’ll pack up both, and they just absolutely fill her rather large and open house.
Can you have the MuSo and Qb in the same room? We've got a large open L shaped kitchen/diner/lounge and wondering if I can have the Qb in the Kitchen, MuSo in the lounge playing at the same time?
Great review, thanks. How does the Mu-So 2 grow in sound with the Naim Mu-so Qb (2nd Generation) playing together for music and movies? Is it a richer experience? Does one complement the other? Please describe the sound with & without the Qb. Thanks
Great design, like the big illuminated knob, reminds me alot of a 1970's Telefunken TED video disc player. Looks way more elegant than anything I have seen from Sonos. I could imagine using in my office room. The jacks underneath is something I have only encountered on my 1959 Knight tube amp. Also, I really like the close-up inserts in your reviews.
Thank you for watching! It's WAY more stylish than a lot of all-in-one speakers. About the only thing that I've seen that may give the Mu-so 2 a run for its money stylistically is the Bang & Olufsen Beolab Stage.
I have a Naim Unit Nova and I love the Naim sound and rhythm/pace/detail. I'm currently looking to purchase the Naim Mu-So 2 for the bedroom for music and to use as a sound bar.
Moved up a couple of spots on my wish list. I want towers but not gonna happen while living in this one bedroom studio apartment. Thanks for the great review.
Shoutout to #KCRW! Sadly the station is not as robust as it was when this video was recorded - Jason Bentley, Anthony Valadez have both departed - but they still serve as a fabulously eclectic, and high quality, artist-focused public station.
Probably the secret sauce is Naim bringing its long sonic history to the experience. My own 1980s high end system has a Naim NAC62/NAP140 amplifier and it has the same clean presentation. You stop listening to the equipment and re-start listening to the music.
Good review of a product I have almost zero interest in, but I stayed with you. This could make a nice bedroom rig, though. I don't do smart speakers and almost never play background music. That might just be me, though. People don't get that, s I liken it to television. If I turn the TV on, I sit and watch--with 2 channel sound, which is plenty. If I'm not watching, it's not on. Same with my music. I sit and listen to it. I don't do any of the smart speakers for that reason, either. I don't think products like this are THE future of HiFi, but merely a segment of that future. The closest product to this that I'd buy is a high-end integrated amp.
Andrew, I really enjoy your approach to reviews and the production is great. I'm nowhere near ready to give up my system for something like this, however, I think it would be very useful for a family room. Something easy for every member in the family to operate and something that sounds really good for when it's my turn to pick the music. I have a wireless speaker that I use quite often; more often than I thought I would. It's a Paradigm PW 800, I think is the model. I use it in the kitchen which is also where I'm teleworking and it's great to control my what I'm listening to from my phone and it sounds really good for what it is.
I understand that Sonos may not provide product, but a comparison between the Naim Muso2 and the McIntosh RS200 would be very interesting. The Mc is twice the Naim price, but both seem to be “identical”. Thanks for really professional reviews and knowledge.
I think powered speakers and systems like this definitely have a major place in hi-fi going forward. If you're looking for what is going to be the predominant winner in a market ALWAYS bet on lazy/easy over capable or nuanced. HOWEVER there will always be folks wanting to play with all the different component pairings. It's a more individualized experience.
You ask if a product like the Mu-So 2 is the future of high end audio - i look at it as more of a "Lifestyle" product. The high end audio enthusiast will be more interested in the Naim Unity Nova than the Mu-So 2.
We need to divorce ourselves from the term "lifestyle" as a category for even a two-channel system with all the trappings is part of one's "lifestyle". In my opinion this is a step towards the future and in time will replace "traditional" systems as a new wave of enthusiasts and audiophiles will have no need for two or more speakers and a rack full of gear. It's the same as in the not too distant future no longer needing the internal combustion engine but still wanting cars.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews Like you say, for those who have "no need for two or more speakers and a rack full of gear". With so many doing large screen home theater rooms, the growing market of short throw projection, the desire for big sound and subs, i think multiple speakers will still be predominant for quite some time. If we take a big picture view - with a world population of 7.8 billion i think there is room for all sorts of AV product.
I never really use my hifi gear to play background music. Just don't really like it for some reason. But I could see why a speaker like that could have it's use in situations like that. Very interesting review, thank you
How would you compare the Mu-so 2 to the Kef LS50 Wireless II ? Like, where do you feel you get the most bang for your bucks? Would be used mainly for listening to music, but would probably also be used together with a TV, for TV audio now and then.
Gorgeous HiFi system but why would they put the cables on the side? This is the first thing I've seen that's reminded me of B&O's old hi-fi systems. This is very impressive by NAIM. With soundbars becoming so popular, they should double down and make a surround version that's just a tad larger with tiny side and upward firing speakers.
Hi Andrew, I watch your chanel from Hungary and I like it very much. 🙂 I have already a Mu-So QB2 and I plan to have one more + a Atom Uniti for using them as One system. Since I have this QB2 I am so happy! For me the best quality product I have ever had... 🙂
Thanks for your insight and opinion with this video presentation. Even though it's 2 years ago I have found it useful and intriguing. I have a nice entry level Hifi with a Rega P3 as the source and I spent a few years (and a couple of thousand) assembling it, and I am generally very happy with it. I've decided that I probably won't upgrade anymore because at 58 my ears will be starting to degrade and it would likely cost thousands more for significant improvements, however I would be interested in also owning an alternative piece of kit designed more for - as you stated in your video - easy everyday (or all day) use that's more compatible with today's lifestyle and music choices. For example streaming (Spotify etc) and internet radio, both of which I play more often than my CD and Record collection - partly out of convenience and also because of the range of content more vast than it's possible to own. A well made bespoke piece of equipment designed specifically for this purpose is quite appealing especially if it has high quality sound and makes the listening experience enjoyable without being over analytical. From what you are saying the Naim fits perfectly into this area and as such I am very keen to audition it for myself. A £1,500 ish budget could be more likely to significantly improve my listening pleasure on a Mu-so 2 in addition to my HiFi separates than by attempting to upgrade my system. I'm very interested. Thank you.
Another great video review it is a beautiful product a bit pricey for a family what professional individual or couple I think it's fantastic and and everybody's trying to look for space saving measures
Excellent review good sir! I appreciate the detail and the reference to the Sennheiser Ambeo and LG Soundbar. Provided a bit of context. I think there’s an obvious audience here and it’s for folks that don’t particularly like the look of speakers and want relatively mid-level or high-end audio in an all-in-one solution. If my older brother got into hi-fi and had to wrestle with the wife acceptance factor (she doesn’t like speakers), he may opt for something like this. I personally would not get the Mu-So 2for a few reasons. I’m simply not the intended audience; - I am a specs snob; Whenever a spec goes out of date (whether it’s the version of Bluetooth, codecs, HDMI ARC vs eARC, Wi-Fi connectivity, etc.) I’m keen to upgrade my setup. With an all-in-one, I would be upgrading often by selling/swapping out the entire system at a loss quite often. This can get expensive. I’d rather have powered monitors and a subwoofer connected to something like the Bluesound Node 2i. That way, I’d just be replacing the DAC/streamer and not the speakers. - No subwoofer out. That speaker looks like it’s flat to maybe ~50Hz if I had to guess. I really prefer something that’s at least flat to 30Hz. Therefore, I need a sub. Even the ability to connect to a wireless subwoofer receiver in the back so I could discretely put a wireless sub somewhere in the room would be ideal. - Price: I could purchase 2 x Adam T5V powered monitors, a Node 2i, and a used 10” or 12” sealed sub for the price of the Mu-So 2. I haven’t heard the Mu-So 2 but I have a hard time believing it could provide a competitive sonic experience.
I like the unit, but must give it a good "listen" at the high end showroom near me, IF they have it! Better though, the mid century-ish mahogany cabinet you display it on piques my desire most. Bought online? The photo of you and Kristi is killer. Blessings and safety!
Very much considering this as a device in our home. Where would it get use? Not as my primary source for home theatre of course, but we will soon have a second tv in another room that is not really meant for tv watching but for sitting around reading and maybe listening to music. It is here that I think the device will shine. It does all the streaming I need and I can connect the TV for a better than average sound when it is desired. I need something that looks nice, doesn't need speakers and performs. If it is as good as has been described it will be the option for me.
the only thing i dislike about this system is that you cant add a sub for that otherwise missing ultra-lows. else it would be the perfect match for my cinema. i really wonder how the NAIM Mu-so 2 stacks up against the KEF LS50 (Wireless) Meta or normal LS50s.
I keep coming back to this product and now again that you've reviewed it. The want is strong! I'm considering this as a replacement for my sonos play 1 speakers that I use for every day listening between kitchen and living room. Not sure how much experience you have with sonos products but I have to imagine the Naim would be a significant upgrade don't you think?
I once bought the Bentley edition of the muso 1 and the muso qb as a christmas gift for my then girlfriend. Design and sound are as you mentioned high level. I am considering now to buy the muso 2 as my main music system as I already operate the Sony HT-A9 with my Sony 95K.
Thanks for the comment. Do you still like yours? I'm thinking of picking one up mainly to use as a TV soundbar and to enjoy some music from time to time 👌
Buggy software. Lights turned on 2:30 am. I wanted to like this speaker and I do. Nice clarity but the sound just didn’t do it for me in the end. I will say I am completely impressed at how this speaker is not peaky in anyway. The muso 2 does not shout at you. Beosound Stage maybe a better option for my use.
I've just upgraded from the muso cube to KEF LSX speakers would I have been better spending a little extra and getting this Muso 2 The KEFS do sound superb
Hi Andrew, thanks for the review. I was in the market for the original Muso about 4 years ago and ended up getting a Devialet Phantom. Actually ended up getting a pair. I think that tells you everything, I'm a bass junkie. Considering getting a Muso 2 though for the rest of the house. The Phantoms reside in the basement. This review helps greatly. Was wondering what your opinion of the Phantoms were though. I will be very interested in your review of them.
Great review! A just bought the Qb for my bedroom and now I’m thinking about the Mu-so 2 for the den. Much difference in the sound? I’m just getting started as an audiophile and Naim is proving to be my gateway drug. Next stop the Atom ... maybe. Trying to take it slow.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews excellent review, thank you. I am going to add the Mu:so 2 to my Qb 2 to get away from the 'sound coming from box over there' sensation. Any advice on placement of each? I notice you had the two in unison, if not in stereo. ;)
Top notch review! Thank you. Loved the bands you mentioned. What do you think of this unit compared to the KEF LSX sound-wise? Does it make sense to compare between them? I'm considering between these two (listening to music mostly in a small-medium room).
Great review Andrew! I saw you also had the Mu-So QB2 there, how would you compare the sound of the two? Do the angled drivers in the QB help with stereo separation? Thank you!
I've been a Naim devotee for a good 18 years and my A-system is a full rack Naim rig. My parents own a Muso 1 and so too a couple of friends who I suggested it to. When I went looking for a soundbar, I skipped over the Muso and went with the B&O Stage, which is actually dearer. The B&O met my decore needs being wall mountable, and it too sounds amazing. I went for the bronze/taupe model. No regrets at all. The reason why the cables exit under the base is so the Muso can sit on a table behind a couch for example so all you see is the lovely heatsink! :) And yes, for many people, this style of speaker is the future.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews I'd also love a comparison between the BeoSound Stage and the Mu-so 2! Also, totally forgot about the Mu-so so thanks for reviewing it and reminding me!,
Nice review! Very interesting product. For me it’s probably not a good fit. I am definitely a 2 channel person so I bought a pair of Klipsch “The Fives” for our family room and then another pair for the bedroom. I still have $90 left compared to the Naim Mu-So2. I have 2 old 3rd generation Apple TV’s connected to them so I can use AirPlay and apps through those. I used an existing subwoofer in the family room so if you subtracted that cost and the cost of the Apple TV’s I guess my setup is more expensive. Of course I haven’t heard the Naim so maybe it would sound better to me. I have zero complaints with The Fives other than the silly name. The Naim kind of shares that issue though.
To my mind. between the declutter trend and the retirement/downsize trend plus the increased likelihood of approval by SO's, high end all in one systems are going to grow in popularity and quality.
Never thought I would subscribe to a channel that does a/v equipment reviews but the quality of your videos has gotten me interested in the topic. One question, if I don't care about surround sound, how does the MuSo2 do vs the Ambeo for movies in terms of clear dialogue and decent punch for explosions etc. Thanks!
Thank you for the review. As for me, I can't see how NAIM plans to market this. If I wanted something dedicated for movies, I would for a true sound bar that would decode the audio a lot better for DOLBY ATMOS. If I wanted two channel stereo in a living room where space mattered, I would opt for Klipsh the Fives, which is abouit half the price.
Great review as always Andrew. Would you review the B & W Formation Bar and compare to Naim and Sennheiser. I'm looking to upgrade my main system to a high end all-in-one. The B & W Bar and Bass combo comes in at a price right between the above two. Thank you
Hello Andrew, i an planning to buy one tomorrow to replace a sound bar i currently use, and substitute a Naim system i have had for 20 years plus, with Pre amp and 250 power amp with IBL speakers. Sounds wonderful still. All of this is for the master bedroom. I have another full Naim system in the living room with a power Amp 500, CD3 still and an earlier streamer SuperUniti with The Naim 800 speakers. I have the small cube in the kitchen… do i qualify as a Naim fan? Question: I also have a Naim Uniti server with 100’s of CDs in it. Would it play great music from my server, and Tidal and act as a sound bar? The Mu So will be easier for my wife to manage also… Thoughts?
Thanks for the comment. Do you still like yours? I'm thinking of picking one up mainly to use as a TV soundbar and to enjoy some music from time to time 👌
@@nextsegment78 can’t say, but just be aware that merely pairing two units doesn’t ensure stereo sound: two distinct things. Be advised that many speakers do in fact enable pairing and a 2-speaker setup (and even more!) but many just play the same music at the same time. Not true stereo sound. So make sure to ask about that. Furthermore, many have issues with synchronicity.
If this was updated for HDMI 2.1 and perhaps had Atmos connectivity options I would consider it. Sadly, manufacturers never reveal new upcoming products because they still want to sell existing products but I'd love to see an updated version of this. The natural wood version looks great and is currently selling at a discounted £1k - that's soooooo tempting
For $1,150, this is a very compelling option unless the BeoSound Stage becomes cheaper. I don't think having HDMI 2.1 or Atmos would make any difference here as it's a stereo system. If that's stopping, then you aren't missing anything. If you want simulated Atmos, you'd have to get a real soundbar but they may cost more and will probably not sound as good as this with music or 2.0.
Great review, I was thinking of purchasing this speaker but the closest thing my retailer had was the Sonos Faber Omnia. It sounds great but I’m not sure it’s worth price and I’m thinking of returning it. Have you heard this speaker and if so, how does it compare to the Naim speaker? Thanks
The Naim sound is highly tailored, as it always has been, for popular music: often described as "pace, rhythm, and timing" (PRAT). For those of you who are experts in electronics, as opposed to organic, real world analogue instruments, you can conclude from that what you will - especially those who need to look up the word "prat".
Hi Andrew great review What is frustrating is that I just purchased a unity star and am having no luck in having the TV and the star to link via hdmi arc Out of frustration I reconnected an old samsung soundbar to the TV then came across the muso 2 my dilemma now is do I purchase a muso 2 for TV or a better quality stand alone soundbar. As I love the star as my dedicated music source running through a pair of jm lab cobalt floor standers at the moment keen to hear your thoughts
Given one of three choices would you choose the Naim Mu-So 2 for $1690.00, Sennheiser Ambeo for $2500.00 or the Naim Uniti Atom /Focal Chora 806 / NA5 cables for $3290.00 to live with everyday? I have almost bought all of the above so I am very curious.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews Thank you. I think it is the best all around solution but the Atom / Focal combo that is being offered for $3290 makes it tough when the speakers and Haim cable are basically free. Love the channel.
I do think the Ambeo is the best all around solution. Naim is always so inviting with its sound and the price of that package deal is tough to pass up as a former Naim owner but... An Ambeo is on the way. Thank you again.
@@EJB2024 I will say it depends on what room it will be placed in. If you want Atmos, surround effects. Ambeo. Unless you don’t want a sound bar the size of a tower horizontally in front of your TV. Personally I prefer the Bose 650. Yes it’s a 5.1 system. But I could careless about Atmos. Many feel 5.1 is the best experience anyway. Just my 2 cents.
Hello Andrew, I have a Mu-So Qb 2 and I notice that the sound quality over ethernet cable is really gut, but not phenomenal like over Wifi. And I want just have everything over cable at Home. For my living room I was thinking to buy the Mu-so 2. Can you tell me if you notice a difference between cable connection and wifi? If they can continue to build out their platform in the future to include 'wireless surrounds' they could take a massive chunk out of Sonos' marketshare imo.
I love your approach to HIFI and design! Great video, keep up the good work!
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! Don't replace what you have or what makes you happy, no matter what I or anyone else may say you should do. Thanks for watching!
Purchased one over 3 months ago and have not regretted it. Sounds amazing.. Naim hit this one out of the park!
Andy, you are a great presenter and getting better with every single video!
Also thank you for the exhaustive information in the video description
Just purchased my first ever Naim product - the Mu-So Generation 2nd Generation - reduced from AU$3,000 to AU$1,800 so looking forward to it and also purchased the Terracotta and Peacock grilles. Also just purchased the Naim Qb2 2nd generation - reduced from AU$1,800 to AU$990.
Hey, from Addicted to Audio? Did you like the muso 2?
@@SajaiBaby yes love it - sounds amazing and built like a tank - no plastic - all metal. Makes all the other Bluetooth speakers seem like plastic toys.
this is just the type of system to use as a soundbar and amazing speaker if you want an all in one.
all clean installation and great sound
of course its not as high end as reference speakers
but for a living room
think its enough
Thanks for mentioning KCRW. Hours and hours in the studio with KCRW on and inspiring me all the while.
Miss KCRW! Big fan!
KCRW on TuneIn radio
Great review as always! Love the channel.
Thanks! WE appreciate you continuing to tune in.
Any comments on how they compare soundwise? Do the angled drivers in the QB2 help with stereo separation? thanks!
Any ideas which one sounds better Bose s1 pro or naim mu so? Thanks;)
If Naim and Sennheiser could have a baby to replace the AMBEO, it would be AMAZING.
It is one of best designed audio devices (just my humble opinion) from the aesthetic and usability POV.
Thanks for watching!
62/140 is certainly competent but could NEVER be described as high end!!!!!
@@acme181169 Perhaps not nowadays but it was in the 1980s. I would also rate it better than mere competent, even now.
Great review as always! I think I am getting the Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 together with a pair of warfedale Evo 4.4
When you say close my eyes, somehow I’m hearing MrMobile Michael Fisher’s voice when he’s reviewing headphones 😊
Hi Andrew! I wish you do a comparison to name the best all-in-one player. I wonder, what will be the outcome when you'll do it.
I appreciate you watching! Speakers such as these are great options for getting the family or friends involved in good sound and the hobby on a whole!
Great video, Andrew. I always appreciate your presentation. I can’t say this product floats my boat.
Appreciate you watching all the same! Be well!
My comments reflect my current mindset. I’ve just gone back to components and speakers. People with contemporary styled homes may enjoy having it.
I understand that Sonos may not provide product, but a comparison between the Naim Muso2 and the McIntosh RS200 would be very interesting. The Mc is twice the Naim price, but both seem to be “identical”. Thanks for really professional reviews and knowledge.
Great presentation as always. Interesting product, thanks for the detailed review.
Thanks for watching!
Love your new videos, you seem a little more critical (and probably realistic) of the products that you are reviewing
Appreciate you watching! Not sure if I've grown more critical or not, but I appreciate the note!
I never really use my hifi gear to play background music. Just don't really like it for some reason. But I could see why a speaker like that could have it's use in situations like that. Very interesting review, thank you
Very interesting.
Great video, I'm glad I found this channel. ^^
So am I! Thanks for watching!
How would you compare the Mu-so 2 to the Kef LS50 Wireless II ?
Like, where do you feel you get the most bang for your bucks?
Would be used mainly for listening to music, but would probably also be used together with a TV, for TV audio now and then.
I have not heard the KEF wireless speakers so I can't offer any thoughts there.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews Ah, okay.
Well, hope you will review the KEFs at some point then :-)
Gorgeous HiFi system but why would they put the cables on the side?
This is the first thing I've seen that's reminded me of B&O's old hi-fi systems. This is very impressive by NAIM.
With soundbars becoming so popular, they should double down and make a surround version that's just a tad larger with tiny side and upward firing speakers.
Hi Andrew, I watch your chanel from Hungary and I like it very much. 🙂
I have already a Mu-So QB2 and I plan to have one more + a Atom Uniti for using them as One system.
Thank you.
A well-balanced and thoughtful review. Thanks, it made my decision to buy for my den.
Another great video review it is a beautiful product a bit pricey for a family what professional individual or couple I think it's fantastic and and everybody's trying to look for space saving measures
For those familiar with Naim, what is better: The Naim Muso 2 OR two Naim Qb 2s? Thanks.
I personally would not get the Mu-So 2for a few reasons. I’m simply not the intended audience;
- I am a specs snob; Whenever a spec goes out of date (whether it’s the version of Bluetooth, codecs, HDMI ARC vs eARC, Wi-Fi connectivity, etc.) I’m keen to upgrade my setup.
- Price: I could purchase 2 x Adam T5V powered monitors, a Node 2i, and a used 10” or 12” sealed
sub for the price of the Mu-So 2. I haven’t heard the Mu-So 2 but I have a hard time believing it could provide a competitive sonic experience.
Hello Andrew, I would really like to see a review of the Cambridge Evo One. I would like to know the comparison of the Naim. Thank you in advance.
Evo one sounds way more open with deeper bass.
I have the muso in my living room. Had the chance to listen to Sonos but it was terrible with music so I went with muso in the end.
which sonos?
Would it be terrible to hide it inside a Clic furniture with acoustic fabric door? Nice informative objective review as always. Thanks.
I probably wouldn't but you could always give it a go and see if it works for you. Thanks for watching.
I like the unit, but must give it a good "listen" at the high end showroom near me, IF they have it! Better though, the mid century-ish mahogany cabinet you display it on piques my desire most. Bought online? The photo of you and Kristi is killer. Blessings and safety!
Links in the description for that, Jon. 😊 (living room link)
I cannot say as I have not compared the two, but style-wise I think the NAIM is better.
I had the original Mu-so and I sold it.
I wish I hadn't which is why I am checking out V2...
I did that mistake by selling B&O BeoSound stage..
Good review Andrew and I’ll be using the Muso 2 as a sound bar in a very similar way to the setup behind you using an LG GX oled.
Hi! Did you get the Mu-So 2 for the LG GX? Any problems? Asking because I am thinking about getting that combo. Thx
I'm thinking of picking one up mainly to use as a TV soundbar and to enjoy some music from time to time 👌
Andrew, great review! Just a small comment: different colours front plates were available in gen1 too.
The Mu-so is fuller, way better bass and spaciousness in comparison.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews excellent review, thank you. I am going to add the Mu:so 2 to my Qb 2 to get away from the 'sound coming from box over there' sensation. Any advice on placement of each? I notice you had the two in unison, if not in stereo. ;)
Would love to hear your opinions of the focal aria and or kanta towers
I am glad to see you are not a "recovering audiophile" anymore. Cheers!
Top notch review! Thank you. Loved the bands you mentioned. What do you think of this unit compared to the KEF LSX sound-wise? Does it make sense to compare between them? I'm considering between these two (listening to music mostly in a small-medium room).
Hey Andrew, can you please review apple homepod stereo setup with dolby atmos as a permanent TV setup?
Great review Andrew! I saw you also had the Mu-So QB2 there, how would you compare the sound of the two? Do the angled drivers in the QB help with stereo separation? Thank you!
Qb is way inferior to the bigger brother
I've been a Naim devotee for a good 18 years and my A-system is a full rack Naim rig. My parents own a Muso 1 and so too a couple of friends who I suggested it to. When I went looking for a soundbar, I skipped over the Muso and went with the B&O Stage, which is actually dearer. The B&O met my decore needs being wall mountable, and it too sounds amazing. I went for the bronze/taupe model. No regrets at all.
The reason why the cables exit under the base is so the Muso can sit on a table behind a couch for example so all you see is the lovely heatsink! :)
And yes, for many people, this style of speaker is the future.
I have a beosound stage and the thing is amazing for both music and movies!!!!
I want to hear the BeoSound Stage SO BAD.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews I'd also love a comparison between the BeoSound Stage and the Mu-so 2! Also, totally forgot about the Mu-so so thanks for reviewing it and reminding me!,
@@ra1340 Yep best $3000 (cost here) I’ve ever spent.
Great video, thanks a lot for your thoughts !
Dumb question but you can stream from your own Hi Fi set up, I don't like streaming services like Tidal.
To my mind. between the declutter trend and the retirement/downsize trend plus the increased likelihood of approval by SO's, high end all in one systems are going to grow in popularity and quality.
Yes sir!
Thanks!
Glad to have you! The AMBEO is going to be the better overall option.
Thank you
The first problem you have with it being wake up in middle is actually a solution. It reminds you to turn the switch off.
The Mu So will be easier for my wife to manage also…
Thoughts?
Thanks for the comment. Do you still like yours? I'm thinking of picking one up mainly to use as a TV soundbar and to enjoy some music from time to time 👌
At the risk of sounding ridiculous - can one connect two Muso 2s to a single source to replicate a stereo sound?
Why is it ridiculous? Perfect question. I also wanted to know if it can connect to two non-Apple-Airplay2 speakers for stereo effects in a room
No
Naim Mu So 2 or Ambeo for music? Which one is louder?
What is the cabinet that you had this sitting on
You'll find all the links & info in the description box just below the video's title. (Living Room)
although i'm a naim fan (and user) the gripe with naim's wireless speakers is that they don't do stereo pairing, and that's a deal breaker for me!
I've got that same Winogrand book, so good!
Easy choice - the Ambeo.
Perhaps it is time to get all in one smart speaker. It is 2020 after all. :)
Question is though which would rather live with, a all in one unit like this or a powered speakers like The Fives?
That is a question, and a topic for another video we have coming right around the corner...
Andrew Robinson 👌🏻
Beautiful but sort of sucked. Lip sync issues and highly placement dependent. Beo Soundstage was better and fit for my needs.
Andrew. You're the best.
Most of people will not be able to hear a difference... mas for voices and accoustic guitars, for example, it makes a diference... The Mu-so Qb 2 over Wifi is phenomenal...! Thanks in advance for your help!
