I think I have become a Maison Fauve addict. I have a few of their patterns now and want more. The fit is great on me, which I find is not always the case with other pattern companies.

I love your presentation style! I am in the US but was born in Norwich, England. Have not been back despite my mom being British. I am so envious of the British sewing community. My dream is to go to England and do a tour of the fabric stores. Of course meet some of my extended family as well! Being 65 my grandparents are no longer living but I do have aunts,uncles and cousins there.

I too would love to see a series of 5 jackets dresses, blouses, tops, shorts, etc. I love watching your vlogs; your enthusiasm is so infectious! I will finally be ableto getback to sewing, hopefully, thisweek. Just after I started sewing again, after a decade of not sewing, I went and upgraded my machine and just started learning how to use thenew one properly, I found out I had a 33" solid DVT from my crotch tomy ankle in my left leg vein and I was out of commission for almost 7 months but it has finally all dissolved and I got the all clear to start my hobby again. I have so many patterns and beautiful fabrics I hardly know where to start. Spring (in the USA). Is certainly a great season to get back at it again. I love your makes and I'm very inspired by all the wonderful garments and conversations about them that you provide! Happy sewing Cara!

Hi Cara, I'm very much enjoying watching the progress of your Maison Fauve wardrobe and trying not to buy every pattern or fabric that you mention! I bought the Swimstyle Patterns Cosy Bundle which includes the Karla set and eventually found the A4 pdf pattern in the instructions download. There are endless possibilities for your 5 series - dresses, trousers, different nationalities of designers, patterns for certain types of fabric etc. This is going to cost me a fortune, isn't it! 😁

I love the dress fabric but will you be lining it? I’m really looking forward to seeing your Thea trousers. Please get lots of photos. I made them recently and was so scared before I started as I have never made fitted trousers. I made a toile and the fit was great apart from needing to increase the waist darts on the back legs. Such a lovely design and I’ll definitely be making again. Fingers crossed for good weather.

On the Maison Fauve Instagram site Emile has made a dress in similar fabric and you can't really see v much, but also they have a v simple slip dress pattern, designed for such situations, so I could make that in the matching cotton voile. Exciting, I can't wait! I'll definitely be taking lots of photos of my trousers and outfit and the event itself, really looking forward to it

Only my second collar too 😬 I just couldn’t get the buttonholes done on the breast pockets though (forgot to do them before I sewed the front pieces together) I’ll try to do the buttonholes on the front tomorrow 🤞🏼 If that doesn’t work it’ll have to be snaps instead 🤷🏼♀️😂 Hope you’re having a great weekend 💞💞

Hi Cara, I'm new to sewing but would like to attempt the Maison Fauve trousers you've made previously (wide leg black. Sorry, I can't remember the name)....I've never made trousers!!! Firstly, would you recommend them for a beginner and secondly what material do you recommend for trousers. Advice please 😊
Hi, the Brooklyn Trousers are an excellent choice. Yes they are beginner friendly, just take them in stages. I'd recommend watching the sew along on their UA-cam channel before you begin, it shows all the techniques you'll need. It's very thorough, you'll just need to change the captions to English. A gabberdine fabric would be a great choice or a cotton drill or twill. Something around 240 in weight. The Maison Fauve website also sells fabric, if you choose not to buy from there look at the composition of the fabric and choose something based on their style of fabric. Their fabrics are amazing, I'd recommend them anytime

Makes sense, I don't think I did button holes on one of mine as the fabric is so thick, I stitched them closed, the button is just for show ☺️

Firstly, would you recommend them for a beginner and secondly what material do you recommend for trousers. Advice please 😊
Hi, the Brooklyn Trousers are an excellent choice. Yes they are beginner friendly, just take them in stages. I'd recommend watching the sew along on their UA-cam channel before you begin, it shows all the techniques you'll need. It's very thorough, you'll just need to change the captions to English. A gabberdine fabric would be a great choice or a cotton drill or twill. Something around 240 in weight. The Maison Fauve website also sells fabric, if you choose not to buy from there look at the composition of the fabric and choose something based on their style of fabric. Their fabrics are amazing, I'd recommend them anytime
