Didn't see anything about returning/old players getting all their time and progression back, didn't see anything about weapon crafting being brought back so we don't have to pay for weapons or gamble for them in loot boxes, didn't see anything about the major things thats upset so many of us being fixed, and giving us rewards (which from what i've seen isn't even gonna boost anyone far) isn't a way of "fixing" stuff, so in general the devs say they've heard us, but in reality they clearly don't care as much as they want to make us believe.
Anyone else not get any of the promised 500 peerless stones with today’s update? I had all weapons powered surged before the awakening update and I got 0 from the new update.
500 peerless is not enough. why do i need to grind xp again unless it's a brand new weapon. grind for the weapon talents are already pain in the ass. btw before this there were new crafting material for tonics or is it nee? seriously!
I think the biggest issue right now aside from how weapons are obtained is the cell system, it basically forces you to only play with one build and that is it. It is very annoying having to re-cell my armors each time I want to use a different build for another weapon. For example if I have a wound build and a stagger build but they share of of the armor pieces I have to re-cell my armor each time I change build, feels like a waste of time and an annoyance more than anything. They really gotta fix cells maybe make it that you can customize each class loadout independently and the cells only break once u change them in that specific class loadout.
that exact feature is something they are talking about actually freezing cells to loadouts and only breaking them if the loadout itself changes. that may actually happen according to the devs so well see
Awesome I think that would be a good medium. Something else that they should look into is endurance. Maybe make it that you can start sprinting at 10 endurance instead of 20 and for the first second of sprinting endurance is not consumed, I think this would be a feature everyone would love.

The only real fix for all the changes they made is reverting back to the systems that were actually good and rewarding that werent broken and didnt need fixing. It wont get better because it already had "issues" before and now its worse so explain how it'll actually get better when they clearly arent committed to doing what actually needs to be done and are just going for bandaid fixes to the current broken systems that need to be completely changed to truly be "fixed"
I am utterly disgusted with the changes to how perks and armour works, so much so I have absolutely 0 intentions of touching the game until it is changed. I have no words to describe how awful it feels. This isn't mentioning the weapon changes. I cannot fathom how they even got the green light to remove weapon crafting. That is such an awful idea I don't think I could have come up with it in 10 lifetimes. It almost seems like it was sabotage. This was the possibly worst update to happen to any game in history. I was excited heading into it, but I have never been more disappointed in all my life with a game. I don't understand how they think they're going to fix it
well this patch tmw is a great start. as for weapon changes im ok with it. before we had hundreds of unused boring weapons everyone used the same shit. now we have weapons that are actually unique and usefull and different in every way. and more will continue releaseing with every update. so im not worried. to each is own though. if u dont like the game simply dont play it. anyone who takes the times to trash on anyone whos still enjoying the game for what it is currently is wrong. cuz plenty of us are still having a blast. :)

@@Glitchiz How is it better? Every weapon is locked with two or three elements. If someone wants to use strikers against anything that's not weak to Terra or Radiant, well, they're out of luck. Sure, they'll release some, but how long will it take for every weapon to have one of each element? They'll need to add 23 weapons.
@@gabycashy5 with the right build the weapon element has barely any notice during combat. an opposing weapon element gives only +1 power rating. u can take down any behemoth with any element it just helps slightly if its the opposite type
Another great update Glitchiz! I stand by my opinions; Much of the community needs to grow up. I have criticism towards some aspects of awakening yes, but there is so much to enjoy, and change was needed. Thanks for your thoughts and informed opinions as always.
I disagree severely. The awakening is some good changes with a an avalanche of bad decisions like the new levelling system for weapons that need an insane amount of xp which they are "fixing" but the system should never have been this bad to begin with. Or how do you defend all the weapons they deleted? There existed so many ones with unique abilities and now we have at best 3 in each class which doesn't even cover the 6 elemental types. Of the 3 we have 2 are even locked behind a special currency that is impossible to acquire the needed amount of unless you already hade an account or you cough up the money needed to buy the rest. Then we have the escalations which are basically now redundant as the cool factor of them was the weapons with legendary abilities which now don't exist anymore.

More weapons will come and eventually fill out every element. they wished they could have had more rdy but it takes a long time. if youve never done ACTUAL game development like myself or any of the devs working on dauntless you wouldn't have any clue the work it takes to make them.
Back in the day players were complaining about the fact that they couldn t choose a crown for each build, they fixed that, some aspects are better now and new players can experience the legendary abilities the weapons had, so that s a good thing in my opinion, if ur already a good player then the new hunt system shouldn t be that bad… even tho i still get one shotted with my weapons and armour max upgraded (i m a console player)
3 of us haven't been on the game much since Awakening. Mostly due to lots of instability, crashes, kick outs, worsening lag and rubber banding. Not to mention pop up screens that freeze your slayer (couldn't get rid of pop up). We're waiting to see if its worth continuing to play. We use the switch.
Content creators for Dauntless smoke the finest of copeium. The compensation is not going to bring back the players. You and the devs keep trying to gaslight people with "I never used every weapon anyway" or "you never really had choice". By that logic Dauntless should be shut down because it takes up space for real AAA garbage on every platform. The devs should quit because they only have Dauntless and no one plays Dauntless anyway.

@@Glitchiz every weapon set had a unique effect. by progressing through the game you eventually unlock the legendary ability that matches the element and apply the unique set effects to that "1" weapon. in which it makes that "1" weapon fit into thousands of builds. it sounds like you've never played before. there are only a handful of weapons and builds are restricted to armor and 1 ,if you're lucky 2, "unique" weapons that are just reskined versions of what we already had. and you have to pay to get them back... you might have brain damage or stuck in an abusive relationship. N'wah
@@jaeger3905 bro wtf are u talking about the only weapons that had built in specials were the escalation weapons & or legendaries at the time. the "ability" your talking about is the elemental build up effect that every single weapon in the game had... any terra weapon had a chance to eventually proc healing orb, every blaze weapon eventually could trigger burn etc... thats not a special ability per weapon... that was an inate side effect of the weapons element. I've been playing dauntless since launch stop trolling bro. Ur clearly the only one here that doesn't know what their talkin about.
@@jaeger3905 unless ur talking about the secondary effect for using it as a bond... u dont get any of the weapons side buffs if it was a bond just the perks. if ur talking about the side perk of each weapon when using it by itself then ok. but the point im making is everyone used the escalation weapons so u never saw the benefits of using those secondary bond weapons. it only worked if the lower quality weapon was the ACTUAL weapon u were using there was never a "on activate" ability. those were automatic. think we were refering to two different things so i apologize. i was referign to an "active" special ability.

I mean I will say a couple things, even with the free platinum in the pass, you still actually never made enough free platinum to buy the elite pass on its own. It was always around half even with the elite pass Platinum added on to it, and I feel like just 200 is a slap in the face. However something I will actually give Awakening credit for is the cells, okay I guess not "credit" per se but I don't think it was as bad as people were making it out to be, the cells getting destroyed whenever you unequipped them was entirely inconsequential when just by playing the game casually you will likely accumulate hundreds of each cell, and even with the new cells I barely played this update and already have like 30 of each
I mean, this is a step in the right direction, I guess. My main issue is how they've completely watered down builds. The grind increased & yet the builds are more limited than ever. Until the build system is re-addressed, I've no motivation to grind. It's good to see they're willing to listen to the complaints, but I fear it might be too late. They're going to be focused on walking back changes rather than adding content now. With the new Monster Hunter game dropping in less than 2 months, Dauntless isn't going to be getting much attention. They've fumbled their opportunity.

@ with the system right now, skills do nothing until the specific investment is reached. And the skills gain nothing beyond that investment breakpoint. This completely removes ‘min-maxing’, which is a crucial part to build diversity & overall enjoyment imo.
People complain a lot about this free to play game. If you don’t want to play it anymore then don’t play it anymore. You didn’t buy it so I think you’ll be ok. I put thousands of hours into this game, I didn’t like half the changes they made with the update, but you know what? I’m still playing this free to play game because it’s free to play and that’s good enough for me.
and even if it takes another year for the full roster of weapons across all elements to be finished the end result will be a 10x better version of dauntless than what old dauntless ever was.
This fixes nothing. If this was the first letter we got? Maybe. This is typical corporate "we're sorry" crap with some freebies to try and pacify. I've seen this dozens of times. Dont be pacified. Fight for what you want. Dont let them get away with ruining Dauntless.

The fact that your cell is locked to the armor pice you equiped it on is so irritating. This makes it so you can't use the same pice of armor on 2 different builds beacause you would constantly have to change out your cells. And since unequipping cells destroys them I just use different pices of armor on every build. And that can be very limiting.
I would describe awakening as the work of a sloppy butcher. Many parts of the game have been hacked of and completely removed from the game to try and resell it to new and old players alike. Some new systems are in place that are a welcome change but without the systems which don't exist anymore I don't see the point. I love for example what they have done with the elemental debuffs, all elements having them and how some have changed is nice but with at best each class having 3 weapons of different elements out of 6 elements what's the point. I could use another weapon to abuse the elemental weakness of a behemoth but why can't I use the weapon I like the most? This is of course under the pretence that you can afford the "legendary" weapons which cost a 100 arbitrary coins that free too plays literally can't afford since the game doesn't allow you to get a 100 through grinding. Unless you already had an account with exotics or are willing to open your wallet you are stuck with 1 weapon of each element. For reasons like that I can't see this game becoming "better", the only direction it can go is being less shit which still means that it's shit. I would argue this even for someone who haven't seen how the game was before. The experience now is fun because the combat is still quite good (even though the servers are garbage) but the progression is as shallow as a puddle because of the systems removed and the systems that have taken their place.
we are literaly getting a ton more weapon tokens for free as part of seasonal events, first of which being frostfall which should be starting today... they said that in there post. it was poorly communicated but they intend to add a bunch more sources of weapon tokens to help with the exact problem people have with not being able to "afford" them flat out.
@@Glitchiz That's all well and good but the fact that initially there was no way for you to get the needed amount and no information of how this would or could change is terrible. Them "fixing" it with free tokens feels like an afterthought that should never have been needed, the system should have been more forgiving especially when the majority of weapons are locked behind this system. Also my original point still stands that the amount of weapons is laughable even with the ones from the store. The ones we have are robbed of the customisability that the older ones had despite the intentions being to make them more complex.

sure they heard us and then they decided that 300k rams and 5k combat merits was good enough to replace 5 years of progress lost you cant even complete 1 line of upgrade with that amount of rams and the new cell system sucks its way too limiting with the builds
The problems are just too fundamental to the entire overhaul to just fix, this has been in development for so long that undoing it all is most likely going to take just as long, this game has progressively gotten LESS fun with every update, it all started with escalation and reached a tipping point with hunting grounds replacing pursuits for me which is when i quit, in fact the only reason i returned was because I had heard pursuits would be returning just to find out the 100 players still playing, to the surprise of no one actually LIKE it, and whatdya know instead realizing hey maybe lets not listen to that feedback cause catering to this crowd essentially killed the game for once when listening was actually the worst choice they actually did and didn't return pursuits as planned, I honestly refuse to play until it is fully reimplemented instead of just legend hunts.
Only the Peerless Aetherite is any good. They should have given us some weapon tokens so we can actually try to buy one or two new weapons, considering how annoying and tedious it is to get them. Especially for all the returning players they STOLE weapons from in the first place. Without that, this isn't good news at all.
I didn't hear about them until they launched on Steam. They had me at Monster Hunter knockoff. They lost me at P2W but will randomly steal/negate purchases. I won't be touching it.

They make all their money off cosmetics just like fortnite I bought fortnite's version of platinum once and never again. And last i checked fornite is huge, and i have never heard that their free to play game is hurting for money.
they are also a massive conglomerate that makes hundreds of millions of dollars from there game design unreal engine... dauntless is made by a team at least for design of like 5-10 people... u can't compare them at all...
They didn't go hard on the monetization until they were sold to forte though, they came in with less than stellar reviews about their practices. I'm open to seeing what they'll do but it's feeling very much like they wanted to wring out as much cash as they could and decided to backtrack when we called them out for predatory practices like selling atherite for money

I would describe awakening as the work of a sloppy butcher. Many parts of the game have been hacked of and completely removed from the game to try and resell it to new and old players alike. Some new systems are in place that are a welcome change but without the systems which don't exist anymore I don't see the point. I love for example what they have done with the elemental debuffs, all elements having them and how some have changed is nice but with at best each class having 3 weapons of different elements out of 6 elements what's the point. I could use another weapon to abuse the elemental weakness of a behemoth but why can't I use the weapon I like the most? This is of course under the pretence that you can afford the "legendary" weapons which cost a 100 arbitrary coins that free too plays literally can't afford since the game doesn't allow you to get a 100 through grinding. Unless you already had an account with exotics or are willing to open your wallet you are stuck with 1 weapon of each element.
For reasons like that I can't see this game becoming "better", the only direction it can go is being less shit which still means that it's shit. I would argue this even for someone who haven't seen how the game was before. The experience now is fun because the combat is still quite good (even though the servers are garbage) but the progression is as shallow as a puddle because of the systems removed and the systems that have taken their place.
we are literaly getting a ton more weapon tokens for free as part of seasonal events, first of which being frostfall which should be starting today... they said that in there post. it was poorly communicated but they intend to add a bunch more sources of weapon tokens to help with the exact problem people have with not being able to "afford" them flat out.
@@Glitchiz That's all well and good but the fact that initially there was no way for you to get the needed amount and no information of how this would or could change is terrible. Them "fixing" it with free tokens feels like an afterthought that should never have been needed, the system should have been more forgiving especially when the majority of weapons are locked behind this system.
Also my original point still stands that the amount of weapons is laughable even with the ones from the store. The ones we have are robbed of the customisability that the older ones had despite the intentions being to make them more complex.
@@AbnormalDude well thats what happens when there only two people on the team making weapons.. they would have loved to have more at launch but its a very small team. i know of at least three others already in development. so they will fill out soon enough

sure they heard us and then they decided that 300k rams and 5k combat merits was good enough to replace 5 years of progress lost you cant even complete 1 line of upgrade with that amount of rams and the new cell system sucks its way too limiting with the builds
The problems are just too fundamental to the entire overhaul to just fix, this has been in development for so long that undoing it all is most likely going to take just as long, this game has progressively gotten LESS fun with every update, it all started with escalation and reached a tipping point with hunting grounds replacing pursuits for me which is when i quit, in fact the only reason i returned was because I had heard pursuits would be returning just to find out the 100 players still playing, to the surprise of no one actually LIKE it, and whatdya know instead realizing hey maybe lets not listen to that feedback cause catering to this crowd essentially killed the game for once when listening was actually the worst choice they actually did and didn't return pursuits as planned, I honestly refuse to play until it is fully reimplemented instead of just legend hunts.
Only the Peerless Aetherite is any good. They should have given us some weapon tokens so we can actually try to buy one or two new weapons, considering how annoying and tedious it is to get them.
Especially for all the returning players they STOLE weapons from in the first place.
Without that, this isn't good news at all.

I didn't hear about them until they launched on Steam. They had me at Monster Hunter knockoff. They lost me at P2W but will randomly steal/negate purchases. I won't be touching it.
isnt it 100 per weapon to unlock? people are going to unlock a couple and then when they release some more casual players wont have any left and will either pay or quit
They make all their money off cosmetics just like fortnite I bought fortnite's version of platinum once and never again. And last i checked fornite is huge, and i have never heard that their free to play game is hurting for money.
they are also a massive conglomerate that makes hundreds of millions of dollars from there game design unreal engine... dauntless is made by a team at least for design of like 5-10 people... u can't compare them at all...
They didn't go hard on the monetization until they were sold to forte though, they came in with less than stellar reviews about their practices.
I'm open to seeing what they'll do but it's feeling very much like they wanted to wring out as much cash as they could and decided to backtrack when we called them out for predatory practices like selling atherite for money
