- When most people think of jazz, the name that comes to mind first is Miles Davis. Despite being such an important figure in the jazz world, he was able to keep innovating throughout his entire career. In this video, I look at how jazz lends itself to innovation, and how his records like Kind of Blue, In a Silent Way and You're Under Arrest are examples of his innovation.
If picking three Miles records to show innovation, I'd pick: Birth of the Cool - foundational for cool jazz; Kind of Blue - foundational for modal jazz; and Bitches Brew - foundational for jazz fusion.
In a Silent Way is my favorite, but it only is about ankle deep in fusion. Enjoyed the video.
I feel like a lot of people who don't even know jazz know So What. That feels like that is a standout song.
My guy was also really cool has hell!
Naw that more likely for a song like "Take the A Train."
So what is the most popular song on Kind of Blues...but it hasn't really tapped into pop culture. Obviously this is my personal opinion.
This channel worth more views …good work mate

Great work
Thank you!
Great analysis. I think Coltrane was just as innovative too, just in a VERY different way. Would love to hear your thoughts.
Miles Davis, tastefully melodic and lets the notes breathe, Coltrane 160 notes per second hardly taking a breath
Good good good!!!
I think so what stands out
