  • www.nancycrawfo... This is the second of 2 videos exploring Mark Making - Inspired by Calligraphy, Text and Handwriting - that pairs beautifully with encaustic work, collage, or mixed media art pieces. To download a multiple page PDF that outlines the various tools that I've used in these 2 videos, along with links as to where to buy them, please visit my creativity blog at thecreativecomm... and look for the March 2016 post entitled "Inspired By Calligraphy - Mark Making Tools Inventory". I hope these resources provide you with some new ideas and inspiration that you can put to good use in expressing your ideas. Happy Creating! www.nancycrawfo...

    Thank you very much for uploading these -- I am both a calligrapher and a collage artist and I have always considered them very distinct uses of energy, never thought of using them in relation to each other -- a revelation!

    Nancy, thank you so much for creating this brilliant series on encaustic. It has to be one of the most comprehensive, detailed and inspiring "takes" available on the net. Your unique talent shows through clearly and simply and defines the beauty and fascination I have with this medium. the "With Love And Gratitude" project is a priceless idea!

    So sad to hear of Nancy's death. After quite a few years, I was returning to her videos to seek inspiration.

      Nancy has long been an inspiration. I was fortunate to have met her and taken a couple of her workshops. Her videos I now recommend to my students as I know you can trust that Nancy tested every technique and material she used before she would recommend them to her students and followers. I too, still watch and refer to her videos on a regular basis. Absolutely the best on UA-cam. With Love and Gratitude, forever in our hearts.

    Hi Nancy, I have devoured all your previous videos and you have encouraged me and inspired me greatly in my quest to learn about encaustic painting. Here in Australia it is not widely practiced and, living in a remote area, I have had no opportunity to see any encaustic works or meet any encaustic artists. I have just been teaching myself by reading and watching wonderful people like yourself on the internet. Can't thank you enough for being so generous with your gifts and your time. Karen

      +Karen Lyell Hello Karen and thank you for your comments. I'm glad that the videos have been inspiring you and your encaustic practice. I'm not sure if you are part of my blog community at www.thecreativecommitment.com but I will soon be posting some exciting news there about teaching in Australia! That might be of interest to you. Best wishes as you continue your creative work!

    Do you have a first layer or two of wax before you're writing in ink? or are you directly on the gesso? thanks.

    • @creativeexcursions
      @creativeexcursions  7 років тому

      I do both. I will often write on my substrate or the gessoed surface and then again on the wax in higher layers. Happy Creating!
