It was fascinating watching you assemble multiple pics of glasses into a background, because I’d want to use each individually to hold things or turn them upside down into bodies…. But ha ha, then your brain went the same way!🤪
HAH! I was trying to NOT make them bodies...like, "Can I do something *really* unexpected with these?" But sometimes the answer is "no, just go with what you know!" 😂
So much fun!! I'm about to be out of pocket (not filming or creating) for a good week or two... UGGGGGH!! So, I'm living vicariously through you and your paper people...... 🥰
OH noes! Well I have something else up my sleeve for next week! So I gotchu! Then you can return the favor when I am traveling around this spring and can't create or record, myself! TFW! 💜
Awww! Glad you like it! I wish I had found something like this when I was starting. So hopefully it helps folks to get started or at least see things a bit differently! TFW! 💜
What an entertaining, informative, instructional video. This series inspires one to focus the eye, the mind to create alternative visions. Now let’s begin. P.S. I would suggest catalogs such as LL Bean for heads, bodies and borders. The stacked clothing sliced, diced and punched could become colorful, textual borders. Shoes could be seating or popping out the human figures. The craft knife is a tool that I might use more for detail and as you did opening items such as a fish popping out of a bathtub. Well done series. The next video is eagerly anticipated.
Thank you so much! I actually did a video where I put small Tim Holtz vintage people on modern chairs, and in that video I staged someone in a shoe! 😆 But when you said a fish popping out of a bathtub I thought "What about a small person popping out of a very large shoe?" 🤔 Love the cross-pollination that happens in this creative community! TFW! 💜
Yes! Dyan's sheets are just her magazine collages! It's so fun, it really makes your brain learn how to look at so many things differently! I hope you give it a try! TFW! 💜
I now have boxes and boxes of stuff I’ve harvested from magazines over the past two years. In retrospect, I should have just marked pages within a magazine for potential use (I likely discarded the remnants of magazines that might have been useful!). I thought I had an organizational system of sorting things into categories, but my plastic bags are full and it boggles my mind to try to sift through them!
I think my next “first step” should be to sift through my collection of backgrounds and slap them down into a journal! Stop viewing anything as “precious”!!
Yes! Agreed! What helps me is if I find myself being precious about something, I make myself use it. That's my first rule of creating because I can hold on to things for DECADES (literally) waiting on the "right" time. There is no right time, it doesn't exist! Just use it up! It's ok!
You may enjoy what I have in store for next week, then! I am about to tackle my *very small* collection from when I first started and was cutting up mags when I got them--before I realized that is not a good way for me to store magazine images. TFW! 💜
Oh it's fun! I gave away all of my supplies after not using them for years and years, but sometimes I miss it and want those supplies back! 😂 I'm ok, I have plenty of hobbies, though! TFW! 💜
The little hat on the monkey! Too cute!
Omg that monkey! 😍 😂 TFW! 💜
I am loving the Halloween one!!!!
Yes! It turned out so well! Also, who doesn't just love fall/halloween!?

Fun pages. I haven't watched Tara in awhile, but I do get her newsletter. She's a hoot! Can't wait to see the doodles. Have a beautiful day. xo
Oh I love her videos, I rewatch them sometimes. I get her newsletter too! I hope you have a beautiful day and TFW! 💜
I want to start playing. It's been a busy week though. I've got ideas for journals and have some already made that I can use.
I have been watching gluebook vids to prep myself for starting one. I think i have an idea. More projects are great, right? 😂 💜
This is such a fun series!

Really enjoying your process. I have not done magazine collage. Only doll collaged with dyans sheets. I just might have to give this a try!
