Nice one, this is a feature I've never tried. Also, cute little tunes you got going. I'm going for grime/2-step garage, this machine really shines in those genres.
@@RonCavagnaro Ah, cool. My main pc with Reason isn't rigged at the moment, but my plan is to send MIDI commands from there to start it, then run it through a mixer with hardware effects and EQ and record it in tempo for possible further editing. Hardpanning the L/R and 3/4 outputs gives you 4 mono separate outs too which is useful if you want, say, the kick, snare and bass recorded on separate tracks.
It's pretty cut and dry I think: pattern sets is for setting single patterns or chains live so you can switch "improvised" whereas song mode arranges a specific order and timing for a linear song.
Great video, but please answer me something. Why every time that I push the button ¨play¨a song start to run instead of the things that I want to save in the patterns or what I want to play live and record on the fly? thanks!!
Nice vid, didn't know you could chain them. I rarely use pattern set since I don't play live and use song mode instead. One question: can you still tweak stuff like the filter cutoff or fx parameters or even mute/unmute parts while in pattern set mode? (Shift+pattern set)
Louis-Philippe Guilbert ahh yes I think. this was exactly what I realized I had not tried after posting the video but when you change patterns it won't save the settings, unless you save the pattern. This can be great for experimentation!
All this years I used to spin this round to change patterns in live! All this years! And now, when I start to think about selling device, you told me that there was an easier way... I'm disappointed.
Thanks for watching! Check out ALL of my EMX1 Tutorials in this playlist!!! ua-cam.com/play/PLQvVnhG7o2ySrXVxxalKrZSHn3PZ-i8kS.html
Thanks! I went back and watched again and had overlooked the part wherein you taught that. Thank you!!!
@@betsyjayne638 oh sorry I didn't get time to answer it!
Awesome, keep the electribe tutorials coming. Thanks for all your effort
Dude you just saved me an hour of trial and error - thanks for the excellent content :)
Very glad to help it's a great gear
here i am almost done with an 8 track liveset. so glad i don't have to hit pattern and spin the dial anymore haha. this is so much nicer.
Such a cool feature. Thanks for the clear overview
Wow, finally realized that a properly configured Pattern Set Chain is how you prototype a song structure
How do you switch pattern Bar Quantized not end of pattern?
Awesome tips I had no idea how to use that feature
Glad to help I love emx1
How do you save a pattern set for use later on?

thanks! I currently only use deluge to control my emx1 now but only the drums., But really, emx1 is awesome sounding!

@@KimStennabbCaesar yes very cool way of using it! I hope you watch the other emx1 videos I've made they are full of useful ideas!
@@RonCavagnaro Yeah, I've glanced through them all, not much that I didn't already know. But for sure very useful for others!
@@KimStennabbCaesar well awesome thanks for watching and commenting!
Really helpful video, as always! :)
Thanks! What is the use case for pattern mode over song mode? Just watched your vids for both and I’m wondering what the difference is for application

@@RonCavagnaro thank you! I’m digging the channel.
@@dustykent5259 thanks! I plan to make way more videos even on emx1! In the process of moving stuff so stay tuned
when i set my patterns, i turn off the korg and turn back on and my patterns are gone.
@@saphtrack do you save it first?
how many bars can a pattern be? is it limited to 4 like the ES2?
8
@@RonCavagnaro nice. Why would they downgrade it for the ES2 tho? Makes no sense?
@@vznquest no idea, but I got an emx1 after e2 and never looked back
any way to switch pattern without playing out the whole pattern?? i find this feature very cumbersome
Not sure but why not just make shorter patterns for those parts and assign it out to each set that you want.
Press the backwards key, (the one left of Rec button)

all the default patterns sound like anime openings
