Your Autobahn reviews are great, for me they show how good the cars work as a daily. And Alpinas are made for it. What I would like to see, and no one does it, is the acceleration WITHOUT any launch controls. Besides the 100-200, that’s the interesting number… For example the m440i with the mild hybrid makes it a perfect daily, for me, powerful and instant take off, even in comfort with active start stop. Then there are other cars, performing better in S+ … but till 5k rpm they feel like 180hp and their take off without lc needs seconds till they react.
Top speed is quite good, S engine in an Alpina is very cool, just hope it will be reliable. Only thing I would change is exhaust and engine noise in cabin, I think Alpinas should be more quiet.

Been waiting for b4 video. -great job. My only criticism, was the Video was from a super high vantage point ( are you 220cm???) could not see lined of the car properly. But thanks for this great video - amazing daily!
Ive been saying for over half a decade now that the ZF8 is one of the best transmissions ever made and it took until BMW actually put it into the new M3 and M4 for people to finally catch on.
If you've driven a new M3 though, you'll know that it is potentially the weak point in those cars. It may be that some different software might help but it really doesn't work in an M car. Great in everything else though.
@@Simmsited236 I haven't driven an M3 but basically every single person on the planet has agreed that it's much much better than the old DCT. On the F gen M cars the DCT was not just a weak point but also prone to failure. The ZF shifts just as fast as the DCT, is softer (except for the Sport shifts those are brutal) and can also take way more torque than the DCT. It might not have as much soul if thats what you want to call it but it is definitely better than the DCT in every way.
@Datoda i suppose that it is subjective, but I've heard a lot of people say the opposite. Having owned both, the shifts are definitely, unequivocally slower than a dct but it helps make the G80 a better daily. For me, the zf, great as it is, isn't a focused sports car gearbox
@@Simmsited236 As I said it might be slightly slower but it's almost as quick as the DCT. Im looking at POV videos of F and G gen M accelerations and it's barely a noticeable difference. What I did see though was that some people just drove in Comfort or had the transmission specifically in Comfort and it obviously doesn't shift as quick in the normal modes as it does in Sport/Track. Also it shifts quicker when fully accelerating as opposed to not fully accelerating. If you dont floor it it won't shift as fast as it can, I dont think that was a thing in the DCT.
Love Alpina I have a 2007 B5 . It frustrates me though as you can't purchase Alpinas in New Zealand . I had to import mine from Japan. I can buy a new Alpina in Australia but then have to pay luxury car tax etc so would cost me 400-500 thousand to ship it to NZ . Please can you contact the head of Alpina and plead our case here in NZ we want a dealership please . Hell I can buy a brand new Aston Martin here why not an Alpina .

A 4-series GC with an S58. This is indeed an M4 for adults. Balanced, matured people, who have the money but don't care for the show.
