One of this generation's finest actors...
***** It's obvious you don't have a clue what constitutes good acting.
@@lynnturman8157 When you're talking to yourself... and nobody's at home. Alone.
Sam is probably one of the top five greatest character actors of our time. I love everything he does. He is an example of acting mastery. I love this interview and that I can hear greater insight into who he is and his work.
The most underrated actor working today. I can't fathom why Sam Rockwell is not an A+ list actor. Never been less than great in any of his movies.
Can´t believe this guy is 46 years old. He looks 30. Great actor, should be doing more movies. I love KPCS, the interviews are great, but I think they could use some post production work, like photo inserts of the people, films and plays the guests are talking about, for example.
He's not married and never had kids. That'll keep you young.
FUCK YEAH SAM ROCKWELL
Wild Bill Wharton. I bet it's hard to shake a character like that. The Green Mile, favorite movie, favorite book. He did a great job in the movie. It still gives me chills.
Two of my favourite films *Confessions of a Dangerous Mind* and *Seven Psychopaths*
Wow, just wow.
I friggin love Sam Rockwell!!!! Great interview. :)
His acting in "Three Billboards" was really impressive.
One of my favorite actor.
I'm so glad, that they talked about his dancing. Sam murders every floor.
He is one of the best actors out there and he is as cool as a motherf**ker. I could've listened to KP interviewing him all day.
Words fail me regarding my love for Sam fucking Rockwell. Great interview.
This whole video makes me want to wander around San Fransisco, to see, smell, hear and feel the area that made these two guys. I am so glad I found this channel!!! I love you Kevin Pollack, I seriously cant believe you dont have more of an audience here on youtube.
Sam is effing adorable.
Sam giving love to Snow Angels and saying it's a role he's perhaps most proud of, if you thought moon was heartbreaking then you should go out of your way to see it. Criminally underrated
Kevin are you using a potato for your audio output level?
Also how do you not talk about the film "Moon"?
MOST underrated actor EVER!
Imagine Rockwell in a Tarantino movie.
bztrd80 yeah, im also wishing for that to happen
I'm shocked it hasn't happened yet.
never happen. They hate each other
@@JimA-pp2nu What? Why? I can see it but if they worked together it would be epic.
he'd fit way better in a paul thomas anderson movie they're basically the same person
I hope he wins more awards
FINALLY SAM ROCKWELL
So great. Thank you.
Thanks for a great interview and great guest.
You guys should get some of the old Cheers cast on the show.
And Jeff Bridges - he was great on the Nerdist podcast.
Is it just me or is this episode really quiet?
One of my favorites...if I know he is in a movie, I will search it out.
I didn't hear them talk about what I consider to be one of the most underrated funny movies of all time. 'Safe Men' is seriously so under appreciated.
I fucking love this guy and the Kevin Pollak Shat Show.
OMG,I have found a treasure! I love it😘
Great interview! It was interesting to see and get to know Sam.
Wish: could you in the description to write the major questions with reference to time.
This is gold. Of course, I'm typing this on the heels of the Billie Jean/Johnny Carson/Walken impressions.
Kevin Pollak, thank you for interviewing my favorite actor. Also you were in my best friends film. "I Thought I Told You to Shut Up."
Love "Chat Show"... which is appropriate because it is not an interview. It's story telling and shared experiences that I've not seen in any other format. Thanks.
‘Box of Moonlight’ threw me. I hadn’t seen this kind of sizzle in an actor that had sincerity and funny in equal parts. It was my favorite movie that year. His talent is yet to be appreciated or maybe he’s been able to hide among us.
Earlier I was looking through my dvd's and noticed I bought Seven Psychopaths and never watched it before, I watched it and was curious who this actor was named Sam Rockwell, I wiki'd him and realized the only other thing I saw him in was TMNT from 1990, So I had to go watch that again, and now I'm watching this
good talk, good dude.
I was hoping you'd ask him about his small role in the original Ninja Turtles movie.
Love Matchstick men, 7 psychopaths, Green mile, Charlie's angels (Sam made it 99% of that movie funny), The sitter "Hilarious character", and many more .your a humble actor and very mesmerising in and outta characters 👌 just a very cool guy 😎
If you haven't seen Moon you really should check it out.
Box of Moonlight one of my faves...
Many people have asked on forums, and here and there, why SR hasn't gotten an Oscar nomination yet. Given his skills to those who have watched him carefully (Snow Angels, Jesse James, Lawn Dogs, that scene with Angelica Huston in Choke...more) people are wondering not IF but WHEN that will happen and what role might attain it. I maintain that that awards stuff just isn't very important to him. He's getting his chicken wings, got loads of money in the bank, happy in his personal life, and fulfilled artistically. And that's all he's after, really. He also seems he doesn't like too much publicity and being much more than he is now would bring some problems.
Because the Oscars are a joke. Buscemi doesn't have an Oscar nomination.
Best one yet.
Bro Rockwell is one of the funniest people 💯
Bummed you guys didn't talk about Hitchhiker's or Moon.
thats a shame.
get your own show, get Rockwell to come onto your show for almost 2 hours and ask him yourself
Justin L.T.
My God, you're right!
wank wank
Gary Oldman is My personal all time favorite. What a god damn legend!
volume is f'd on this vid... I keep turning up to hear and then down when my eardrums are nearly bleeding from mic bumps and whatnot....?
Still a big fan tho.
re: 1:00:55 is that knit cap they refer to the actual one Sam wears in MERCY (1995) ??
Christopher Walken needs to be a guest on this show! Oh, and Rockwell rocks..!
Shocker74 if
❤❤❤ Absolutely Love Sam Rockwell ❤❤❤
Yes! Moon was amazing. Three Billboards was even better.
Awesome sauce.
i am so happy knowing sam liked kingpin
Sam is awesome, let's start paying more attention
'Cops get the best dope"--- he said hahahahaha lmao
If I was forced to pick my favorite actor, no hesitation it would be Sam.
Wait...Keven Pollack has a show...imma check these out
The film SR did one scene with Matthew McConaghy or whatever his name is is GLORY DAZE!!
Imagine going to a restaurant and Sam Rockwell waits on you and then gets famous and you have a story to tell.
I heard somewhere (director's commentary?) that the addition of the dancing for Eric Knox' character in Charlie's Angels was SAM's idea. True or not? Another question for sam..... WHO IS HE IMITATING in Matchstick Men - that little aside "It's crazy, it's Wild" when talking to Frechette with Nick Cage's character (just after the bubble gum and comments they make about being parents of teen girls.)
That was him doing his Christopher Walken impression.
really? I've heard him do Walken before and I thought it was good. I didn't catch it there. THANK YOU though, I will give it another listen!
Great interview! I wanted him to say anything about Box of Moonlight... shame
Love Sam Rockwell. Shame this one was pre-recorded, no fan questions from the UA-cam subscribers...
I Love Sam Rockwell he's ffucking awesome! In my perfect world He would be my husband! :D
GAWLEE Kevin your impressions are perfect. Specially Walken. LMAO!!! OK I admit I didn't know who you were, KP, checking you out soon for sure!
Watch 'The Usual Suspects'
jabroniman OH I have seen Usual Suspects several times. Pull it out every few years. One of my all time favorite movies. And won out over Box of Moonlight with Sam Rockwell in it, at most of the film festivals that year :) But My piss poor memory LOL erased Kevin from my memory! THX checking it out again!
9:55 OUCH!!!
Sam is one of my 3 favorite actors next to Nic Cage and Michael Shannon. Was disappointed to find out he smokes. But loved the interview. Wish he would have talked about what it was like working with Nic Cage.
Kevin & Sam whats up with the beards?!! lol
Who's the tiny oliver platt on the laptop?
Some compression would even out the audio, bet rid of the tremendous volume swells that make this hard to listen to.
Nearly a 2 hour interview and no mention of Sam's first film "CLOWNHOUSE"....like wtf....was hoping to get some insight on how he felt about working on that film and all the controversy that surrounds it and the films director Victor Salva
Love seeing Sam Rockwell on the show but you said you were having David Cross....Sam was great but I hope this doesn't mean David Cross won't be on soon.... I been watching the show on hulu and now mostly on youtube the day after you tape and love it but I sent a request at least a year ago when you were asking for guest request to see you and David Cross so please tell me he will be a guest soon .....
I love how Pollak tries to 'up' his SF cred 'I was born in SF' and somehow try to reduce Rockwell's association 'you spent time Daly City and San Mateo'. One was raised in San Jose and one in San Francisco. SJ, in the South Bay, is light years from SF.
Extremely underrated sam Rockwell and Kevin Pollock.
6:37
did kev.. stopped doing this show?
Sammy❤
This felt weird. I don't know. Maybe it was just because Sams audio was so low. He didn't look comfortable at all.
MicahIphone Not even when he threw his leg and foot on the table? lol
Amazing conversation and people, but the sound mix is making this very hard to listen.
sammy my love oh yea on mo time bb
Good actor, no doubt; tho at the beginning he could've tried to put his foot on his head instead of the table. Why do they do these things?
Clearly, actors are most interesting when they're acting. as it should be...
Wings in NYC aren't all that special...or aren't worth the effort of going out of your way. you actually have to go out to the burbs actually.... but if you want the apropos atmosphere and ambiance? Old Town Bar. lots of actors/TV people actually slum there.
i love the movie the winning season and the movie the name escapes me he plays a small town pharmicist with a shrew of a wife ken howard is his father in lawin the movie and gentleman broncos
I lived in the Bay Area for two years and it still to this day drives me crazy that he says, I'm from SF. No dude, your from the Bay Area. San Jose is not SF, Oakland is not SF, North Bay, I mean c'mon you actually have conservatives there, not SF. There are so many microcosms in that region, to say I am from SF and not physically in SF is such an under handed statement.
Steve Jonas When I say I'm from the Bay Area people don't know where that is, even more so when I get more technical and say Redwood City. Unless I say San Francisco or California people don't get it. And I have been born and bread here 35 years ago.
Great episode if you can read lips.
What's the freaking deal w Kevin's gf? Trippy girl?
looks like dana carvey
Pollack is so pompous. "have you worked with double M?" what a fuckin' douche
does sam rockwell not know how that mic works he keep covering his voice with his hands under his chin then he fucking coughs at a ridiculous level, i cant sit through this
Sammy should play Jesus at some point.
I know he’s a nice guy. But you know it’s an old interview when he refers to Amy Schumer as being in good shape lol.
Oh man this show SUCKS
Sleepy stuff. The host didn't know his stuff. No 'Moon'? No 'Last Exit'? It's not about you, it's about the guest. Shut up and let the guest talk. And the female isn't adding to the picture. A female presence would be great. But not this one.
