I cannot thank you enough for your explanation, it was so smooth, so clear and very straight forward. YOU SAVED MY LIFE! (desgin student) Thank you again. You gained a new subscriber : )
Thank you so much for making this tutorial! I've worked with this effect before and could never get it to look 100% how i envisioned, and your tutorial really helped get me there! :) thank you
amazing video! really helped. but for the part after 06:36 i think we can achieve the same results by just adding another paper layer over the top most current layer, add a clipping mask and set the layer on "multiply" and then decrease the opacity to maybe 83% ? and we will get similar results. of course it wont be as much detailed and nicer than the method you told but it is less complex :)
Is there a way to automate the sharp edge cutout selection? Like an Action or something to select the object and automatically expand the selection to the desired cut out effect?
is there any way to save it as a template to do it for many pictures without redoing all the step? i just need the png paper cut with no background. Thank you for your great video
I am trying to create a black pineapple with letters filling the pineapple with a quote but having the letters transparent because I'm looking to put it on t-shirts and I want to use different coloured shirts and colour matching the text to each t-shirt is proving to be difficult. The letters need to be individually placed so that they fit; they are not in a straight line. Because of this, I need to see the text and the pineapple all at the same time, which I don't know how to do in PS, since I'm sure it would require layers, and possibly even a layer for each letter (hello, my worst nightmare). Is what I'm trying to accomplish even possible? And if so, could you do a tutorial video on how the heck it could be done?
As for the not in a straight line part, if the letters are all upright 90 degrees (not different angles/slants) then you can easily change their size/position using one text layer, then apply the knockout effect to the text layer. But if they aren't, you would probably be best served to do each letter on its own layer, then apply the knockout effect to each one to see through to the colour of each shirt. Let me know which it is and I will maybe try to do a quick tutorial that shows how to do it...
@@thisguydoesphotoshop thank you for your response! Yes they are all at different angles, too! 😬 If I do them on different layers, is there a way to see all the layers at once to make sure the placement is right? I need to see them all at once to make sure I’m getting them in the right places. If not, that option won’t work either. 😭 I wish I could attach a photo of the graphic that I have now so you could get a visual of what I’m trying to do. It’s harder to explain without being able to show you the original graphic. Sigh. The image the letters are on is solid black, too. Is that an issue? Because when I’ve tried this even on a straight line. As I was testing it out, the letters don’t show up at all because the background is black, as are the letters. Perhaps if I did the letters in the colour of each shirt you could see the outline of them then? This is a trickier feat than I thought it would be! PS I have also posted I’m the Adobe PS forums but waiting to get a response there.
Truly impressed by how soothing and simply you explained it

I'm not sure I fully understand what you need, but does this video achieve the effect you want? ua-cam.com/video/-cSb0J7o16M/v-deo.html
