Leave it to the Americans to destroy the greatest liner ever built Normandie

Yep….that was one dumb thing those few overzealous military officers did. But the French….leave it to them to surrender and have 3/4 of the population drop to their knees to suck Hitler’s evil pecker the second they actually have to fight. Then leave it to the Americans to see the Brits and their Allies on the brink of losing their nations to the Germans and immediately commit their natural resources and vastly superior manufacturing infrastructure and methods to provide the British and her Allies (including the French….before they surrendered…like always) with the machinery and materials needed to fight a 20th century war. Everything from standard military fare like: Trucks, Jeeps, Tanks, aircraft, ENGINES for those aircraft (yep…Packard tooled up and built the RR Merlin engine to perfection….they actually had tighter tolerances than even Rolls Royce, the ones who designed the engine!!) and a good percentage of the ships needed for the Allies’ decimated merchant fleet….see “Liberty Ships” for more. Then even after all the “Lend-Leasing” we did to help out, things kept escalating anyway. And when the time finally came that the USA couldn’t justify keeping out of the fight any longer because A) the fight came to us in Pearl Harbor, and B) the Axis powers were bombing England so hard and killing so many innocents that the British would have been wiped out until those left waived the white flag before long. Churchill would not have surrendered willingly and much of the country stood behind him and would rather die than be subjugated by Nazi Germany. So what happens….”LEAVE IT TO The AMERICANS”…to put pride on the back burner and head to Europe first to deal with the larger threat to us and our friends that are in trouble. Leave it to the Americans to CRUSH Italy into submission before jointly planning the greatest Military operation of all time with the Brits and putting it into operation on D-Day.
Leave it to the Americans is right. We have all kinds here….from the inept and stupid, installed in positions of power based on their family’s status that they did nothing ti build (like those who destroyed SS Normandie) to the eccentric but principled genius, one of the best tacticians to have ever lived in modern times and yet also a man who’s “code” is so much a part of his personality that he’ll follow it even to his own detriment (Gen. George S. Patton….
