A Hidden Gem in Samar, Philippines!

- Epi 361 - I sure wasn't ready for a typhoon upon arrival, but this is typhoon alley and a new typhoon season is upon us. Just as we arrived, a developing tropical storm forced us to change our plans, making an earlier than planned visit to one of Samar's hidden gems. The "Maslog Cold Spring" is located along the Gandara-Matuguinao road, 20 kilometers east of Gandara in Samar. This pool-like spring is supplied by fresh crystal-clear cool blue-green water running from a cave and into the river, and it begs to be dipped in. I can hear it calling from my house!
Once a geographically isolated and disadvantage area (GIDA), it would take 4-6 hours to reach this spot by boat. Today, by good road, it takes less than 30 minutes from Gandara proper. Assorted Refreshments are available (Vendors).
DAY USE:
Entrance fee: P30 per person
Large hut rental: P500
Opening hours: 7AM to 6PM daily
Assorted refreshments available.

Not a treasure hunter per se, I do seek out a good adventure here and there. I did meet a guy just the other day from the U.S., who lives in Northern Samar who actually does hunt treasures, and is 'permitted' by authorities to do so in his area. I'm waiting on him to actually find something. Thanks for coming along!
