Listening to these jingles and sweepers make me want to search for a wonderful, former job coach I had. Her name's Phyllis Durant. Before and after work, she would drive us around so she could turn to KRTH! Me and co-workers had lots of fun with her! In May 2004 sadly, we switched to another job coach. Since she isn't around, I just wish she lived about 5 houses down from us.
Fun fact, 3 of their cuts are sound-alikes to 3 classic packages. The cuts are from when Johnny Mann started adding in backing tracks to their cuts. The 1 before hey there lonely girl is one of them, originally did in the TM Airworks package. The other 2 are from TM’s alternative package. The demo’s on here, so you can listen for yourself. I believe they are cuts 1 and 3.
@TheRenard10, whoever you are, glad you enjoyed this video! My first K-Earth montage, as well as this video, have reached over 1000 views! I'll try to upload more airchecks from this station. Have a blessed, safe and happy holiday season!
Morgan The 80s Kid 2020 they sure did! What a difference 20 years makes! Now K earth 101 is playing songs from the late 70s up to the early 2000’s I think?
They must have reduced the playlist by quite a lot later on, because I don't remember some of these songs playing at all. In fact, nearly all of the jingles aren't familiar to me either. They must have had the station running on automatic by the time I stopped listening around 15 years ago.
They played all the great oldies back then. The greatest hits on Earth. I mean what they play today mostly 80s music is okay but it really isn't the same.
Well, Asiatic Bear, that voice you hear in-between songs is none other than Charlie Van Dyke. There used to be another Charlie who worked there at K-Earth, his name was Charlie Tuna. But this announcer is Charlie Van Dyke. Got it?
@@NoBoundariesInSight2023 Charlie Van Dyke was the program director/weekend bossjock at KGB San Diego in 1970. Didn't last long as he was whisked off in the RKO talent pool.
@@NoBoundariesInSight2023 Charlie Tuna did a stint at KCBQ San Diego for a while. He was under a non compleat clause in Los Angeles between jobs so took a job at the Q and commuted from his home in Tarzana & the KCBQ studios in Santee (San Diego). Thats about 260 miles a day round trip!
Yes, the very first song that begins this video is called "You Didn't Have to Be So Nice," recorded by the iconic 60's group "The Lovin' Spoonful." Then after the first voice-over or sweeper you'll hear a few seconds of "Bad Moon Risin'" by Creedence Clearwater Revival or CCR.
@@NoBoundariesInSight2023 I've had the jingle for You Didn't Have To Be So Nice stuck in my head for at least 20 years but I couldn't ever remember the lyrics so it couldn't figure it out! Thank you sir!
Back when KRTH was semi-decent. The repetition was high I remember, but beats today's programming by a ton!
Agreed.

Naminski that’s what I meant! Sorry about that, I was using dictation so I think it may be did not hear me correctly.🤣

My favorite KRTH legal ID was the one they used from about 2006-2013 which was an updated version of the old KHJ brass and drums ID.
That time was great. The music was really good too K Earth at it's prime until around 2014.
Playing the 60s, 70s, AND the 80s now.
Now it's 70's, 80's and 90's.
