Goodbye Conrail, Porter, Indiana, August 22, 1998

Norfolk Southern and CSX took administrative control of Conrail on August 22, 1998. Me and my friend Brian decided to use that as an excuse to watch one last day of Conrail operations at Porter, Indiana. Porter has always had an interesting mix of trains from Conrail, CSX, Canadian Pacific, Amtrak and VIA Rail Canada. Run through power from several other railroads are also common as they deliver trains to Conrail's large yard in Elkhart, Indiana. I hope you enjoy these vintage views of Conrail operations.
