There is no road access into Juneau, so alot of locals have boats. If you are going later in season, whale watch tours are just as good, sometimes better because migration starts, in Victoria and half the price. You would see pods of whales, jumping everywhere, being playful and surrounding seal for bulking up for long journey. (I live here) Victoria has planes that search for pods and radio to tour where to go. We pull cash out in the casino from our obc. You can also have your grauities pd with obc. You can let ice cream melt in fridge, than add a shot of liqueur😊
Awesome video! Of all the Alaska vlogs I’ve watched (and I’ve watched a few 😊) yours is the first that showed Juneau at night. Loved it! I’ll be there 9/22/24 and will have to check out The Hanger. Those tacos looked yummy. Where did you find the ice cream on the ship? I’ll have OBC to spend. 😉
Hi! Thanks for sharing your Alaskan cruise experience with us. It is definitely on my bucket list. I will be going on my first ever cruise in November with Royal on Adventure of the Seas. I'm so glad for your channel because it has helped tremendously with the preparation and packing. I feel pretty confident as a first time cruiser! Thank you!!
Loved Juneau! Cool town with amazing scenery. Don't feel bad about the whale watching. I did my whale watching excursion in Victoria and we only had a couple of sightings the whole time we were out there but we did see a ton of seals and sea lions and awesome views of course. Great tip on the local eating place. The food looked great. I'll have to check it out on the next trip up there. Thanks for sharing!
Hi!! I’m really enjoying your Alaska videos. When we went to Alaska on the Ovation, the Fish & Chips was a Johnny Rockets and it was removed when the ship was based in China. ⚓️
I've NOT been impressed with JRs on the last few ships. ☹️ The price keeps going up, and food is smaller and less quality. Sounds like Fish & Ships was a good change!!
@@AllThingsWagner I totally agree with you on Johnny Rockets! It used to be great years ago onboard but not anymore, but it’s actually better for breakfast on the Oasis class ships if you haven’t tried their breakfast do it, we love eating breakfast there a few times while onboard.
We’re looking at booking a trip on the ovation in Asia next year. Just wondering, how long did it take for you to disembark at the different ports (not the end of your trip)??
Very quickly, however, AK port times and excursion times are more varied than other locations. Not sure how it would be if everyone was trying to get off the ship at once.
@@AllThingsWagner thank you so much for replying 🥰 that’s really good to know, we’re hoping to do Japan to Singapore next October so was curious! Thank you again!
I’m so sorry you didn’t see more whales….when I’ve gone on whale cruises they were everywhere. I live here in Juneau and thought you did a great job showing off this place. Loved your Skagway vlogs as well. 0:01
Thanks so much! I know it’s hit or miss, but I guess I expected the professionals to know where and how to find them. 🤷♀️ I’m so jealous you live there! We’re considering retiring in AK we loved it so much. ❤️
The company was Juneau Tours. The excursion was named Juneau Whale Watch Tour. I think they have some good reviews. Not sure what happened the day we went. 🫤
I have to say, Royal's buffet is looking mighty sad. I would love for you guys to try a Celebrity cruise! I think you will be pleasantly surprised that the cost may even be less than Royal's.
Juneau Whale Watch. They have some good reviews online, so I don’t know if it was just a bad day. However, other people who were on whale watch tours that same day said they saw lots of whales, so it seemed to me like this company did not know where to go. 🤷♀️
I’m honestly more hopeful to see sea lions than whales… (we booked the whale watch that includes a stop on Sentinel Island, so the lighthouse will be nice too.)
We did see more sea lions on the islands then we saw whales in the ocean. Our cruise as you know was in September of last year. Many of the whales had moved south
If you think Juneau is “ real Alaska “, you have no clue! Lived in Alaska the past 45 years all over this state! Seeing Alaska by a cruise ship is not seeing Alaska! Real simple!😳🤣😂
Great video! Loving your Alaska adventures! Watching in the morning and the breakfast buffet is making me so hungry!
😂🤣🍩☕️
Beautiful scenery.
Truly amazing!

Thanks for the tips!!! 👍🏼 We always pre-pay our grats, but pulling it out in cash is good to know. We ended spending it all. Lol!
Unrelated to your comment except that you mentioned local,, but what is the easiest way to get from the ferry terminal to downtown?
@@emilynordt153 city bus or taxi. We have hopped on the free crew van...just ask.
Great a Seattle transplant trying to talk Alaskan! Nothing new!😳🤣😂🤪

Thanks! I think the ice cream is on the pool deck.

Thanks for watching, Mike! We’re already booked for August, so we’ll do a few things differently next time.

@@AllThingsWagner The Equinox is quite nice, we did a 10 night Southern Caribbean. Glad you will make it back to Alaska too!!
What month did you go
September 2023.

It was beautiful!! Never been wealthy enough to travel overseas. I’m sure there are many beautiful places around the world.
