  • Making my own sabar is as important to me as playing them. I stretch the skins "faire le foor" using the traditional method, with "pegs" and "mes" (webbing). I take great care in making my sabars as beautiful as I can. There are many steps, but once the drum is finished, it has a rich sound that can be tuned to be exactly as I want it. This particular sabar, known as a "mbeng mbeng," plays a vital role in maintaining the base rhythm or "mbalax" in the music. Through each creation, my energy enters the drum, adding a unique essence and depth to its sound.
All of my percussion are made for my own performances. I do not sell sabar or skin them for others.
