    YES! I always remembered his set up for that frontside flip over Carlsbad. Filming sure has come a long way since then.
    Awesome content man, I love when people pick up on little details like that.

    I was battling to kickflip over a bench, and a friend who is sponsored and way better than me suggested putting more of my front foot on. It worked. Immediately.

    I don't leave my toes hangin off, but sometimes i kickflip putting my front foot like an ollie so i can get it higher (i started doing it because of a trick tip from Mike Mo Cavaldi)

    I have a pretty typical setup on a kickflip, but my friend and I both set up our heelflips more like an ollie without our toe hanging off the board. It helps to get more of an accurate flip and it can help to pop it higher.

    i put my toes right up to the edge usually but then again i also tend to ride bigger boards. works great for getting air under you when it flips.

    when I used to skate as the time past I found my front foot getting closer and closer to the toe edge of my deck. I also found it made my kickflip higher.

  • @mrdirtyyellow
    @mrdirtyyellow 7 років тому

    yeah you just lift your flicking foot up more than flicking out. personally i like it this way cause it gives me more control and stability when catching the board since i literally flick the board and raise my leg up instead of out. it gives it more height which can be a pain if you don't jump high enough to give the board room to fully rotate

  • @SteezyVlogs

  • @onyxtheomega9046

    For this specific set up it's all about the type of pop you do. When you pop [HARD] straight down and jump straight up with your knees equidistant almost like you're jumping back into a tall chair or even over one. The flick isn't done on the toe, it's done using the bottom edge of your shoe, not the suede canvas.
    Great for adding height and saves the shoes in the long run

  • @Souran123
    @Souran123 7 років тому

    I noticed this, too. Perplexed by this, I even asked DM'd him on instagram asking him why he sets up his feet like this. He basically said it helps him. But for the mass majority of the people, I would say don't do this. If you want to have more pop and more height, it's all about delaying your flick and really getting a good flick on your Ollie. Luan probably has the best flick out there.. Notice how Luan usually delays his tricks because they're so high?

    • @chimyshark
      @chimyshark 7 років тому

      maybe they're able to delay it because it takes longer to get their foot off and flick when they place their foot in the awkward position. I think that makes sense, because when beginners are learning kickflips, you put your front toe way off near the side and you get a fast flick and low pop.

      it's not that strange and it's not late flipping it's just more friction... when I want a tweaked KF I do something like that it's like moving your foot back to get a higher ollie... I can also heelflip in kickflip position...

    • @Souran123
      @Souran123 7 років тому

      I.C. karting I don't agree at all. Look at lizard king's kickflip. I got a pic with him in my instagram btw @eliweaver He has such a high kickflip and he says he just sets up his foot like an ollie. Setting up your feet like this isn't necessarily good. in order to get a higher kickflip, you should just set up your foot like an Ollie.
