I think this is it. Nothing stays lost forever if there's someone out there exhaustingly looking for it for many many years. It took them 73 years to locate Titanic, and that was a HUGE object, and they did it with technology that is now 40 years old. If this is her plane it makes sense that the evolution of technology allowed a vigilant person who is passionate about Amelia Earhart to finally locate her much smaller plane. Eventually someone will find Malaysia Air 370 on the ocean floor too.

See now it depends on what they used to scan the ocean floor, cause a big funky lookin' solid rock is gonna bounce those waves back differently from a metal plane with a bunch of man made components inside.
She most likely ditched, probably safely landed the plane on water, and then waited around on the sinking plane for rescue or for it to go under, whichever came first; and we all know which one did. Her body was probably down there near it for a while, but it is now lost to time. It'll be interesting to find out when they get a manned submersible down there.

She continued to send radio messages for days after the plane would have run out of fuel, had it continued flying. People heard those messages but were not taken seriously at the time. Unless high tides washed the plane off the beach into deep water, I doubt this is her plane. Time will tell.
It will be interesting to see the location of the supposed plane wreckage relative to Nikumaroro, and whether it could have drifted and sunk after having been washed off the reef.

I can't wait to see what answers the cameras come back with. How amazing would it be to live to see this mystery solved and potentially bring two people home to their families. It would be great to see the hatch open and the potential for them to have escaped and survived. Its possible that she glided it down and left it mostly intact.

Sonar shows a possible fuzzy plane. In no way is it definitive as to what type, or even if it's not an outcropping or other shipwreck.

Looking at the swept back wings in the silhouette makes me believe that what has been found is a Japanese fighter plane.
One thing is odd about that image, the swept wings, can't seem to get past that!
