I did a deathworld marathon run not too long ago. Getting off of burner miners when you can because they are a lot more polluting than regular miners (and, of course, rushing for green modules to drop power and pollution helps a lot). Getting to Furnaces with green is also another big jump in reducing your pollution cloud. Definitely wish you best of luck in the new run. Looks like a nice starting area.
Now thinking of it, "furnaces + green" sounds like a perfect recipe. Uses zero coal directly, uses less power (their bill is off the scale usually), AND less pollution without reducing smelting speed. That should help your base stay off their sensors. BTW, the "engineer vs. death world" setting sounds a lot like "Starship Troopers, but with a cause."
I like the voice over format, it's fun to hear you make jabs at past you. It also nice to have the information about setup, mods, engagement, shilling spread throughout the video. Might also help with retention as folks might be less inclined to skip the beginning & ends of the videos that are normally filled with the obligatory 'do the thing' talk.
Yes - I know Nilaus said he'd do this for the first 3/4 videos, but I actually think he should consider this for all of them. It's more fun to listen to him do commentary on himself while also having the freedom to talk about other things when there are less interesting things going on within the game itself. I also think it gives him the ability not to get lost in his train of thought as he normally would during a game (as Nilaus said, it's distracting trying to think about building your base & having to do commentary at the same time).
100% agree. A "Like & subscribe" at the beginning is a big no-go for me (except at the 1st episode, but still not the best start). "SHOW them why they should like/sub, and only after that, TELL them." Ideally, that stuff is only in the 2nd half of any video -- preferably as a gentle reminder: "If you don't like something about the video, tell me in the comments. If you do, please consider a thumbs up or subscribing." That'll get many viewers to think about the video, and some will go "Well, I didn't really dislike anything, might as well like/sub..."
I’m so pumped to see a new series without so many mods! Will definitely be watching out for this. Even inspired me to start my own death world! Have fun

Seriously yes. Deathworld, but with half of the biter routes closed by water, a lot of trees to absorb pollution and generous minerals patches. Nilaus could do better I think.
Well, this should be interesting. As much as Nilaus knows about Factorio and as good as he is, I would have to say he didn't do himself any favors with this type of scenario, but that is what will make it interesting. Goodluck!
He made a few powerful changes: more resources are always nice, and the moisture slider is VERY powerful. Sure, more moisture means more obstacles and fewer coal rocks, but also more lush green instead of desert (the former absorbs far more pollution), more trees (absorbs even more), and more wood (which is a huge plus, since it's at the very least some additional fuel). The only "bad" choice is the absence of cliffs, for they make good chokepoints, and unlike the biters, you can develop tools to overcome them where they're too much of a hindrance.
I've been watching for a long time, and I'm really excited for this series. The last death world I saw you do was the train mega base, so I'm interested to see this with the redone biters!

I was sure it was there, but checked since you mentioned it. You are correct that it was missing. I have added it now to the blueprint linked in the Jump Start base tutorial: pastebin.com/nRRejBU3
could you give a hint in stream how many rockets you have to launch? (after a short look on your patreon page, around 400) I like the concept, though I have taken a slower approach in my vanilla deathworld game. I used a slower low polution start till i could ramp up with red ammo defenses. on the other hand, it would have taken twice as long getting to that point.
True, but his objective wasn't rushing a single rocket and call it GG izi. I haven't seen how long the list ist, but depending on the patreon number he's going to stay a while and deathworld biters are still evolving faster. He also needs to expand to secure more resources , so it's not cozy corner hugging only I hope.
This was so thrilling, which is not an adjective normally applied to this channel.

oh, so u can disable cliffs.....nice to know ;P
I realize it's small and easy to recreate but the tiny jump start base you use at 14:26 isn't in the blueprint book from your Masterclass series.
I was sure it was there, but checked since you mentioned it. You are correct that it was missing. I have added it now to the blueprint linked in the Jump Start base tutorial: pastebin.com/nRRejBU3
So you don't clear an area before putting down a furnace. ?
could you give a hint in stream how many rockets you have to launch? (after a short look on your patreon page, around 400)
I like the concept, though I have taken a slower approach in my vanilla deathworld game. I used a slower low polution start till i could ramp up with red ammo defenses. on the other hand, it would have taken twice as long getting to that point.
What do you think about make city block with walls like concept to this playthought?
Goes Deathworld - Chooses an easy map with lots of water and like 3 chokepoints blocking off 75% access to his area. Lol.
Fresh start, nice. See, a comment! Not so hard...
2:06 KOS would like to speak with you...
I doubt that very much...
@@Nilaus why?

yes, this is latest version of Experimental. I highly recommend always being on latest for Factorio
Yes, they just released all new icons, plus a redesign of the mining drill. A beacon redesign is coming out in the next week or two.
