Like most people, I was introduced to Yanni's music when his "Yanni - In Concert ( Live At The Acropolis 1993 )" came out on DVD. To this day it is one of my favorites that I still watch and listen too. He he had multiple hits from that concert. It's also very entertaining, as you can tell when you see the crowd in the videos. I highly recommend the whole concert DVD or select any of the songs from that live concert. It's a music masterpiece!

I haven't listened to Yanni for quite a number of years. Now I wonder why! He's where rock crashes into the symphony orchestra, and magic is the result.

I got to see him live back in the '90s. Was an amazing sound experience.

A complete mix from the Mediterranean environment, new age and electronic rhythms, very effective. Yanni has always known how to reach those he was addressing.

Since you like Yanni; try Øystein Sevaag. Different, more meditative but beautiful

Yanni is pure genius!! I had not seen this before and WOW does it feature some awesome talent! You nailed the two comments I was going to make to you; he makes a concerted effort to highlight his musicians and is NOT an attention hog. As much as you love the bass, I suggest for your own viewing in studio "The Rain Must Fall" live at El Morro castle. You won't be disappointed!

yanni is a genius. One song of his that is close to my heart is ''Santorini'', i used to wake up to that song during the summer because my father always put it on, damn i miss those days.
He wrote that song when he was very very young, maybe below 12 can't remember.

This concert was filmed in Las Vegas. I got to see the same show as part of that tour in Calgary Alberta. It was absolutely incredible. Second row, center stage. I was in awe. My wife......she likes rap. I digress.

He chooses his artists from around the world. Many in this piece are from South America, the vocalist from South Florida, SOOOOOO much to see.
Wow! Have you ever stepped into a lively, loving and creativity filled ocean. Enjoy it ... there is a whole bunch! I've studied him since he broke away from Chameleon. Take specific care to watch Marching Season, the one from "Live from the Acropolis". This was one of his early tours.
Many call him "New Age", but he is not respondent to that. Doesn't like being put in "boxes" and required to do a certain thing. HE DOESN'T. Nearly all of it is written by him, some when he was a child ... "Niki Nana", in Greece. Another masterpiece that sometimes includes a didgeridoo played by an Australian. NO end to the talent here. Some have passed away since the tours you will see, ... he, lovingly, keeps moving forward. Do not miss the Tribute concert, in whole. It took two years for planning to get the government to allow the concert in front of the Taj Mahal, building the stages (covering the swampy land around the production area so that instruments could be moved in). He carries 200 keyboards with him. See Ming Freeman ... his lead keyboardist.
You're in for it, my friend.

not a lemon in the bunch.
they are all smiling the way Leonid and Friends do. the admiration that they all have for each other makes it as moving as it is. that sublime joy is what really transports me when i listen to this level of talent.
i would love to experience this live.
