Villeneuve directed “Dune” from a screenplay by Jon Spaihts and Villeneuve and Eric Roth based on the novel of the same name written by Frank Herbert. Villeneuve also produced the film with Mary Parent, Cale Boyter and Joe Caracciolo, Jr. The executive producers are Tanya Lapointe, Joshua Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Jon Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert.

This is the third remake of this moovie though. First movie was made in 1984.second was a trilogy of 3 made in 2000 with another trilogy made is 2003 which continues the first trilogy. As for my self i didnt saw the previous ones just this one.i jusy found out about the other 2 by mystake when i was serching for second part of this 1.
For those who wanna know the first trilogy is called Frank herberts dune and second Frank herberts children of dune

@Jay's whiteboard I’m a huge SyFy fan. But am I the only one not falling for the hype over this film. It was ok, but I won’t say “Amazing”!! Before the movie was released, they had already condition people with “The Visual Effects are some of the best”. And so people program to think that way. I thought the visual effects were just Ok. I’ve seen better.

I understand everyone on wanting to “continue the monster verse “, but this is wrong place to do it imo. It’s DUNE!!! It shouldn’t be overshadowed by anything. Let’s push for “part 2” or a trilogy that includes DUNE Messiah 🤷

Doesn't need to be a trilogy. Part 1 and 2 can cleanly wrap up the first book, just leave it there. Anything else they want to handle they can do as a miniseries on HBO
C M well you could the 2 parter for Dune and then do Dune Messiah then Children of Dune obviously if they are good enough and profitable enough

Lool for dune 1984 or better look for Frank Herberts dune and frank herberts childre of dune. Its the same mobie as this one the Frank herberts is 6 episodes i suppose its the full adaptation of the books
You can literally just start reading the book where the first movie left off, about halfway through, and it'll make perfect sense

I loved the cinematic approach it had fantastic i had chills with all those sounds 🔥
Stellan Skarsgård (Baron Harkonnen), Josh Brolin (Gurney Halleck), Dave Bautista (Raban), David Dastmalchian (Piter De Vries) Oscar Isaac (Leto Atreides) & Zendaya (Chani) all appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), playing Dr. Selvig, Thanos, Drax, Kurt Marc Spector/Moon Knight and MJ respectively. Brolin also played Cable in Deadpool 2 (2018), which is based on Marvel property but not in the MCU.
Honestly I love this movie so much I bought the books. I can't wait to read them.

Another case of trailers not doing the actual film justice; they make it look like some kind of John Carter of Mars spectacle… But the film itself is quite a different experience.

Cinematic masterpiece. The film give time to build the universe and the characters in it. The movie has that epic feel to it with the shooting and pacing of the movies. The performances are top notch with Timothée Chalamet, Ocsar Isaac, and Rebecca Ferguson, and as standouts and Zendaya, Jason Mamoa, Batista, Stellan Skarsgård, Josh Brolin, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Javier Bardem, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster giving stellar support performances. Possible the best movie made in not only this century but possibly the last 50 years.
This movie is over hyped. I was not sold on it. The visual effects were ok, but I’ve seen other SyFy movies with better CGI visual effects. There was to much unnecessary dramatic dialogue. To much primitive sword fighting in a world where super power weapons exist. To much messages in daydreaming. And why are they still using the 1970s Bee-hive missile launchers in the far future. This movie is totally over hyped like many others, that have since faded away.

I don’t know. Joker was pretty bad ass too. But this movie was GREAT! Not in a flippant manner of speaking but great in its grandeur.
This films celebrates what a film should be. The script writing and directing is phenomenal. Its what everything i wanted a star wars film to be.
No forced, jokes if any at all. No wild celebrations after escaping death, no i think i am better than you. No agenda forced down your throat.
Just pure cinema, and tells its story with passion and purpose. Its beautiful.

Actually didn't pay attention to the trailer before seeing the movie. And must say doesn't do justice. Such dark vibe sci fi with amazing visuals, photography and music.
Now the trailer shows the girl in the dreams as if she had a big part when she actually only appears for 5 minutes towards the end. The mom has a bigger part and she is barely shown in trailer.
And one surprise is that movie is subtitled as "part one" as it starts, but not in trailer or anywhere else.

Awesome film… strange that they didn’t develop Dr. Yueh’s Imperial Conditioning…. They did in ‘84 Dune… arguably crucial to the story and how evil, devious and persuasive the Harkonnens were to break the Atreides doctors imperial oath… maybe will be developed in part 2 as a flashback

This part is just the introduction. No big battle between Batista or the big boss. All movie is about the boy running around or who he is .
