2:29 Just to avoid misunderstanding, Hybe didn't save Pledis nor Seventeen. Seventeen was the one who saved Pledis Entertainment from Bankruptcy. They started from the bottom and gained great success and a produce a lot of money on their own, and in Korea, they are considered as the top 3 boygroups. Hybe's deal with Pledis was just a new thing in recent years, so they didn't have a hand in saving Pledis or making Seventeen popular, Seventeen's members themselves did ^^
2:27 not exactly. Seventeen came from a bankrupt agency, but they made a great effort to make it big even before Hybe adquired the company. They were sitting beside EXO and BTS even a year after debuting, and that was before Hybe. Their talents is what made them what they are today, it wasn't because of Hybe.
I've watched these guides multiple times, but watching new people get to know them is such an honor and fun to do HAHHAHAHA thank you so much for watching! I hope to see more seventeen!!
55:43 "maknae" is a korean word that basically means "youngest" so the maknae line means they are the youngest of the group, and Dino is the youngest of all of the members. This is not exclusive to svt though, every group has a maknae line, and a maknae, which is the youngest member.
2:27 No, I want to tell you that Seventeen has been helping and pushing them all the way from their debut until now. Seventeen debuted when the agency was in bankruptcy. They are very popular in Korea and Japan. As for Inter, they may not be very well known, but I want to say that they are really popular all along. In Korea and Japan, it is at the top of the K-pop scene.Never dropped from second, third or fourth since debut. And of course, before Hype was affiliated with Pledis. The company president once said that "Seventeen saved Pledis", which is why their fans have always tried to contradict this information.Because those who have been with them since the beginning will know how hard they tried and how the camp treated them not as well as they should have been.
Seventeen is the true self producing group. They produce songs, create choreography, create content, designing, directing and do many seventeen stuffs by themself. Every member take part in making seventeen brands. Not only they are known for their performance as The Most Synchronized Group as a 13 member but also one of the funniest groups (their show called Going Seventeen very popular among korean and kpop fans, one of the best kpop idol content and have already made as weekly release content). They also were one of the groups that have the best bonding and friendship. They have very diverse discography bcs they always want to show new side of themselves as a group. This is a good guide but it still not enough to show how talented they were. They already a hit even since debut. People know them bcs of their outstanding performance although their concept very simple back then. They even wore casual outfit when performing and don't have their own earpiece due to their company financial. Even from their mv, the difference between Adore U (debut song mv, that look like class presentation video) and Mansae (first comeback after debut, better mv production) was obvious. They earn their fame by their own effort. They have been self-producing since predebut. Some introductions. Hope you dont mind. Btw thank you for seventeen reactions😉Hoping for more.
thank you for checking out seventeen wooo 💓 correct me if i’m wrong but: - mingyu is a good cook but he’s just really clumsy that’s why seungkwan accused him of constantly spilling stuff hahaha - seventeen didn’t organise a musical, it’s only dk who got casted for xcalibur as king arthur 🥳 - seungkwan, vernon and dino are in the “maknae” line because they are the youngest (‘98 and ‘99) and maknae in korean is used refer to the youngest person in a grp (i didn’t really catch it but i think u realised at the end!) anyways, thanks for reacting to and loving seventeen 🫶can’t wait for more!
2:30 ahhhh noooo seventeen was popular way before Hybe ! Seventeen/Pledis wasn’t saved by Hybe, Seventeen gained popularity by their own hard work… especially Seungkwan! When they were rookies Seungkwan would promote Seventeen by going on many variety shows…😢 Not your fault it’s a common mistake but I feel so sad when people think Hybe gave them money/saved them 😞 they got their titles by themselves as the contract with Hybe is pretty recent
I kind of wish the maker of the guide would’ve added clips of Woozi producing too because Woozi is Svt’s producer and has produced songs for other idols as well😞
yes, I watched kpop/k-ent for more than 20 years. Seungkwan was the first idol I know, that went to the different TV staffs to try to get appearances on shows, for themshelves.
@44:58 The8's martial art is chinese martial art, it's just the video didn't show some clips for that martial art but he learned it when he was at a very young age
Perun thanks for this content. And I think you have a tender heart. 🥰 You said 'awwe' at all the right parts. I'm glad you got to know SVT a bit better. They really are a comfort place for many carats. And so excellent across a wide range of talents.
1:42 Carat is from their song Shining Diamond. Basically Seventeen is considered like a diamond, it's a song that really describe them. They're from in the blink of bankrupt company (diamond in the rough) & through hardships they shines the brightest 2:29 Pledis is top 5 most profitable company even before acquisition, consideration that they're almost bankrupt before debuting svt, and only has 2 active groups that time. Competing to big 3 and big hit (#3 that time). Seventeen success is seventeen alone 😁 Just want that to clarify
The word "maknae" means youngest , Seventeen's "maknae line" has seungkwan , vernon and dino , dino is actually a year younger than seungkwan and vernon that makes him(dino) the maknae(youngest)
you can make baby carat misunderstand. even before being acquired by hybe, they had sold 1 million album copies and an ode (2019) was nominated as album of the year
Thank you for reacting! Although the video is over an hour, the creator really just added "points" to know Seventeen so there's still a lot of things that might be confusing. For example: - Mingyu is called a chef because he cooks a lot for them. He's really good at cooking that even the South Korean chef Baek Jeongwon knows he is good at it. 😊 However, Jun and DK also cooks a lot for Seventeen. - DK auditioned for the musical Excalibur and got in as King Arthur, it wasn't a musical by Seventeen. It looks really good, but sadly they don't have the full play online. Fortunately, there are official clips of the play on youtube so you can watch it! - Jeonghan is called angel because of his birthdate, 10-04. In Korean, it sounds the same as "angel/cheonsa." Tho yes he is also thoughtful and kind. 😅 I won't explain the hybe thing anymkre since many Carats have already explained it. Still, many of these info you'll start to understand once you start watching them more. :) After all, there are 13 people lol it's pretty hard to get to know them all at once. 🤣
Thank you for reacting to SVT! ❤ Also (2:29) Back in then (2015) they were well known and popular group in the audience even if they were rookies, they got to win the “rookie of the year” award that you know is difficult to achieve (because there’s a lot of new groups every year and not everyone gets seen by the peeps haha) so yeap, they made their own way to success and in order of that I’m so proud of them because of that, since 2015. So for the beginning they own a lot to PLEDIS but for the future and their hard work they own themselves a lot, not anyone else. I’m saying this because a lot of “people” use sometimes this as an excuse saying things like “they own ALL to where they are now”, and it’s like “nope ehh... what? Look how much they have been in the industry hahaha what are you saying”
1:43 Carat is the fandom name because Seventeen is associated with diamonds and it's even part of their logo. So "carats", as in how many carats a diamond has. It makes sense, it's s not as odd as kpop fandom names can sometimes come 😂
I love how you took time learning all of their names, thank you so much, we appreciate it! Seventeen has been my home for 4 years and will always be, and also I recommend you watching their own variety "Going Seventeen," it's really fun.
hoshi actually doesn't like to drink at all, but he was on that drinking show as part of the HOT promotional activities, and he had to drink according to a game, but he got confused, so Youngji, the host, was "scolding" him for trying to drink when he didn't have to b/c he told her he has a very low tolerance in advance, so she was worried :D also yes, Going Seventeen is an excellent show even if you don't follow SVT's music. prime quality comedy.
Actually PLEDIS was doing alright financially before Hybe came up to them. SEVENTEEN made it so. Their Japanese song are amazing, and as a jp carat I cannot appreciate it enough. Please check out those jp songs as well if you have time:)
Just a heads up, Hybe did not give them money coz Pledis is bankupt..... they built a building from Pledis' old basement (where they use to practice during predebut) like literally... Hybe acquired them coz they saw the potential and Hybe know for sure they can milk SEVENTEEN and their fans and can get more money with them in their hands. They are already successful million sellers with sold out world tours, internationally famous, and even is a well established a favorite group in Japan even before debuting there, and they did all of these even before they were acquired by Hybe. Hybe might have given them little help but all the success and recognition is solely theirs and Carats.
"HYBE saw the potential of SEVENTEEN, it did not create it. The group can congratulate itself for being the reason of its success." - This was published by one of media sites in Paris
Another thing WOOZI is their MAIN PRODUCER. He produces and created all of their songs since predebut (with the assistance of BUMZU - a Pledis soloist artist and also a genius producer, their predebut voice coach) except for some songs produced by other members like Vernon. He was awarded during AAA 2021 as BEST PRODUCER and is the youngest to have ever received such award.
a note for you.. svt alr popular before join HYBE, svt save their company which is Pledis and that’s before join hybe too.. soooo what u said is completely wrong, but it’s okay you just started to learn~
Hype or Big Hit absolutely have nothing to do with Seventeen's sucess... They are just jumping on the bandwagon of Seventeen's sucess by taking over Pledis... Seventeen is their own sucess story through their own hard work... All credits goes to Seventeen and Pledis and no one else... Period.
I honestly like the super long 2022 guide better because there are more details in there compared to this one, like this one doesn't mention how hoshi choreographs for the team and things like that.
Maknae means the youngest. That's why Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino are on the maknae line during the age line because they are the youngest. Seungkwan & Vernon were born in 1998 while Dino in 1999.
Yees! No matter how long it is it's all worth it! Thank you for reacting to this! Btw, MAKNAE means youngest. Since the three are the youngest of the group that's why they are called the MAKNAE line tho DINO is the real MAKNAE since he's 1 year younger than the two.
Alsoooo~ they are known as these titles since their Rookie days: - SYNCHRONIZATION KINGS - SELF-PRODUCING IDOL GROUP (The only group who's been recognized as one that no one else can argue) - THEATER KIDS OF KPOP and later on is also known as: - PERFORMANCE POWERHOUSE OF KPOP - VARIETY SHOW KINGS
As a chef myself y can confirm Mingyu cooks like a pro 👌 (those clips are kinda sus but if you watch this GOSE ep where the have to cook for Joshua, you can see mingyu’s great)
There are so many clips of his excellent cooking skills. It doesn't make sense to show him spilling food unless they explain that he's known for being clumsy.
Maknae basically means the youngest. So when you hear the phrase maknae you used in a K-pop group it means the youngest member. In the case of SVT the Maknae line is the youngest members but the actual maknae is Dino cause he’s the youngest member. It’s like I.N is the Maknae of Skz and the Maknae line is skz is well the 4 youngest members. There is also the word Hyung is boy groups which means older brother….. it’s considered informal to call someone older that you their name without hyung. Hyung is a word you wouldn’t just use with everyone tho, generally when you are close with someone or they actually are your older brother. So if you ever see Hyung line it means oldest members and Maknae means youngest
Oh, Mingyu can cook for real. I mean lately there are a couple others who can, like DK, Jun, or even Joshua, but Mingyu is the best one among them. It's just that he's naturally so clumsy that whatever he does sometimes ends up looking sloppy. Still the end result is what matters. 😁
Maknae line = The youngest line, there're different ages between Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino ( Kwan and Vernon are 98z, while Dino is '99). That's why they can't being specifically year born line
"Maknae" means youngest, and because there are only two members born in '98 and one member born in '99, it would be weird calling them "98 line" and "99 line" of Seventeen. So all three are grouped together and called maknae (youngest) line.
Seventeen is one of rear groups which went through all stages to become a who they are now. They really become success from nothing to world star. They don't have good resources, chances to perform like other artists like others big agency idol. They make their way till now by their hardworking and talents.
Because they create game content. So they are trying to find a license that might be easy to handle. Or try as little as possible not to include the brand.
It's really annoying having people assumed that Hybe saved Seventeen when in fact, their popularity is not because of their agency. They saved Pledis from bankruptcy. They managed to become famous due to their own efforts despite having a lack of budget. They self-produced their own music because they have the talented producer Woozi, they choreographed their dancing because they have Hoshi together with the performance team like Dino, and even promote themselves. Seungkwan used his entertainment talent to promote Seventeen to the different variety shows. He talked to many people and managed to promote their group. Aside from being singers or idols in particular, they are also comedians that's why even people who did not like k-pop became fans of Seventeen. They have two fandoms, Carats for those who followed them for their music and Cubix for those who watched their variety show 'Going Seventeen'. Hybe didn't really help out that much for Seventeen's success today. Instead I would say that they acquired Pledis because of Seventeen. They want to have Seventeen.
Hybe acquired Pledis so that they can take profit from Seventeen popularity not becoz to save Pledis. Pledis already become one of the big cmpany before Hybe acquired them.

Very well said!

Yup even the ceo of pledis acknowledge that seventeen saved pledis

Exactly! Seventeen is already popular even before they were acquired by Hybe~
Yeah they were already pretty big before Hybe! Seventeen brought Pledis out of potential bankruptcy themselves.
I've watched these guides multiple times, but watching new people get to know them is such an honor and fun to do HAHHAHAHA thank you so much for watching! I hope to see more seventeen!!

100% agree. nice name btw
i can totally relate. i've watched that super looong guide you know for 10 times at least hahaha
I thought i was the only one 😀😂
@@hajnalaur1198 It's fun wasting time for seventeen HAHAHAH

I'm 30 minutes in omg I can't believe I stayed this long watching a reaction video 😂
finally! ive been waiting for this!!! you're my new favorite reactor here
boy started with three songs then fell down the rabbit hole hahaha
Just a heads up, Hybe did not give them money coz Pledis is bankupt..... they built a building from Pledis' old basement (where they use to practice during predebut) like literally... 11:22 Yes, Going Seventeen is their variety show!
I saw that guide about 8 times and I saw them all complete because it never hurts to love seventeen
Jun face is covered even in reaction video. 😂😂😂😂
Fandom name "CARAT" from seventeen song SHINING DIAMOND, the lirics said SEVENTEEN CARAT
Yees! No matter how long it is it's all worth it! Thank you for reacting to this! Btw, MAKNAE means youngest. Since the three are the youngest of the group that's why they are called the MAKNAE line tho DINO is the real MAKNAE since he's 1 year younger than the two.

- SYNCHRONIZATION KINGS
- SELF-PRODUCING IDOL GROUP (The only group who's been recognized as one that no one else can argue)
- THEATER KIDS OF KPOP
and later on is also known as:
- PERFORMANCE POWERHOUSE OF KPOP
- VARIETY SHOW KINGS
Maknae is the youngest so maknae line is the youngest line of members

True!!
"maknae" is a term used to indicate the younger one/ones in a group
Maknae basically means the youngest. So when you hear the phrase maknae you used in a K-pop group it means the youngest member. In the case of SVT the Maknae line is the youngest members but the actual maknae is Dino cause he’s the youngest member. Thank u very much!
Also, Mingyu and DK / Dokyeom has fear of heights that's why they had a hard time jumping even if the height where they'll jump isn't that high. 😊
Maknae line = The youngest line, there're different ages between Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino ( Kwan and Vernon are 98z, while Dino is '99). That's why they can't being specifically year born line
Woozi also plays piano and clarinet!!
"Maknae" means youngest, and because there are only two members born in '98 and one member born in '99, it would be weird calling them "98 line" and "99 line" of Seventeen. So all three are grouped together and called maknae (youngest) line.
33:41 LMFAO Wonwoo plays other games too he’s good at games in general… like any games from overwatch to tekken
maknae (korean word) = youngest line
Seventeen also produce their music and cheoreography, so talented!!!!!!!!
about the8, i thought they included videos of him with the nunchucks. If you look it up on UA-cam you'll find it. He is very good with them.
Seventeen is one of rear groups which went through all stages to become a who they are now. They really become success from nothing to world star. They don't have good resources, chances to perform like other artists like others big agency idol. They make their way till now by their hardworking and talents.
By the way you should to react Going seventeen(Variety show by seventeen on their youtube chanel)
Because they create game content. So they are trying to find a license that might be easy to handle. Or try as little as possible not to include the brand.
Before debut they are 17members and then lost 4 boys. So, 13 members +3unit + 1team = SEVENTEEN

funnily enough BSS are coming back in Feb!
BooSeokSoon is the group's GAG TRIO since pre-debut days up to now. They're like the funniest trio.
If you want to watch the Halloween like segment where there is pennywise, you can search Going Seventeen The Tag #1 or #2 ♥️
