The concept of rushing through New York with the Rock n Roller Coaster type ride system is great, and I wish they'd redo DLP's Flight Force with this idea; instead of some hard-to-follow Kree battle, just have Tony send us around on his new "group suit" (the actual coaster train) to test it out on a flight around new york city - and of course there can be near-misses and gags inside. We don't necessarily have to be saving the day to have a great time!

I know there is a lot of speculation about the coaster being Spider-Man themed but, that just seems off. First, it appears the coaster will mostly travel through vegetation landscaping which doesn’t feel like Spier-Man and it definitely doesn’t feel like a big city. Second, you would think Disney would want to lean into Marvel at Shanghai will a larger land like Avengers Campus. A single Marvel attraction with nowhere else to expand seems like Disney is limiting options. Finally, wouldn’t Marvel fit more thematically near Tomorrowland (not necessarily in it)?

if this avengers campus is "upstate new york", then tomorrowland could still have the city-based Avengers Tower (of Terror) someday too.

As much as I hate to say this, but I think that the Toyko Land company should come over to the US parks and see what they can do to improve and increase the attendance of the US Disney Parks. At least give some consolation to the parks over at the US.

OLC continues to demonstrate the creativity and quality of what Walt Disney wanted.
Sadly WDI’s handling in America is not what is used to be.

I'm like 95% sure the coaster will be revealed next week at D23. Haven't been to Shanghai but from what I've seen, it's severely missing another major family coaster. SDMT looks nice for smaller kids and Tron looks like a cool thrill coaster, but whatever this new coaster will be should pretty nicely fill in that gap. Good work as always!

Why did they leave out a train loop around this park? It's so huge, transportation would really help even beyond the kinetics!

I think the coaster is going to be Fast & Furious themed! (Seriously, there are FOUR different F&F movies in the Chinese Foreign Top 20! The entire thing reads like a Universal Studios park: F&F, Jurassic World, Transformers... it's odd the Beijing park isn't doing better.)
Take away Avatar, and there's not a lot of Disney to choose from on that list. Avengers (three times), Spidey and Zootopia, which now makes sense as to why they opened a Zootopia land. (Chinese people LOVE Mulan. The legend. Disney's 'Mulan'? Not so much.) So it's Avengers or Avatar, and it's obviously not Avatar because Flight of Passage is a known winner and it wouldn't be that expensive (you know they wouldn't do all the scenery). I have an issue with them using the same coaster system as Cosmic Rewind, though. It seems like they would've just said, "Okay, Vekoma, give us another one" and not this "looking for a coaster manufacturer" thing. That says to me the spinning isn't important. I wouldn't be surprised to hear Shanghai doesn't want the spinning because it's yet another thing that causes the ride to break down. Who knows? Maybe the "search" was a big ploy to get a cheaper rate from Vekoma.
Good call on the Avengers Compound, though, because it looks to me like the coaster is going to be themed to a tour of the campus. In fact, I think everyone may have the layout wrong. I think the first launch will be forwards, and not that fast. That second turn is far too tight to take quickly. So it makes sense that this be the "tour" section of the ride. You'll get audio: "To your left is something. To your right is something else." There's no exciting element in this section. Then you enter the building and then there has to be an "everything goes wrong" part. I'd guess a screen that shows the building you show getting blown up via Thanos. Maybe the explosion rockets the "tour tram" backwards - that would be really cool! Or Thanos or whatever. This can't last a long time or throughput will be a mess. Then you go through the buildings, probably viewing various Avengers in the windows, on the roofs, whatever. Similar to what they've been doing with screens on all their other rides. Then it ends with a ride around the landing pad, which I assume means the Quinjet has landed and everyone is safe, yay! You would also see the destroyed building, which is much cheaper to build than a real building!
While I'm not certain at all about the controlled spinning - it would certainly make more sense to point the cars in the direction of whatever screen they want you to look at, and HOPEFULLY away from all the coaster supports and Zootopia stuff - I'm very certain that it's the Avengers. The three Avengers movies on the box office list are all higher than Spider-Man, so why only have one Avenger? I also don't think this is going to be that thrilling. If it spins or most of it is backwards, then speed will come down. You can't see a screen if you're zooming by at 60mph (sorry, dumb American who can't do metrics). Also, after the second launch, I don't think there's 2000 feet of track - the plot of land isn't even 600 feet wide, so traveling the entire width three times doesn't get us to 2000, and we're not doing that, though it does curve around that courtyard first. So it can't go through this second half too quickly or it'll be shorter than Tron. To put it in perspective: At 60mph (Tron's speed, kinda), a half mile of track takes 30 seconds. At 30mph (closer to Seven Dwarfs), it takes a minute. A half-mile of track is 2640 feet (gawd, our measuring system sucks), so I think it's going to be more Seven Dwarfs than Tron. But with screens.
