Operating a parish costs money. Catholics give approximately 1.1% of their household income, and protestants give 4.4% of their household income. Church attendance is down. Additionally less and less young people 1) claim membership in any church, or are 2) having their children baptized. Secularization of the culture creates question, doubts, and disbelief in God. Older catholics are moving to the sunbelt; while their children (if they go to church) have moved into suburban areas. These are some of the factors. The Church needs evangelization, to evangelize, and the practice of stewardship.

Church history over the centuries teaches us: Periods of great Faith are followed be periods of great building, which are followed by periods of great decline and unbelief.
I attended a traditional Latin mass for the first time recently. Let me describe what I saw. The place was packed, standing room only, The line went out the door and onto the lawn. There were young families there, children, babies. If we want to save our future, our parishes; we need to return to the past. Vatican II gave the faithful something none of us asked for. I was born well after Vatican II. All I have ever known was the Novus Ordo. Oh my word, my eyes were open that day. The Mass is not meant to be a community, collaborative affair or chit chat. The Novus Ordo has separated the Faithful from the true purpose of the Mass...Worshiping God! The Priest isn't the guy running the show...He's not the emcee. He is In Persona Christi. The Novus Ordo has intentionally destroyed this roll. What has happened as a result is a loss of faith. We have replaced the Mass with a play or a reenactment of a meal. It is not a meal. It is a sacrifice. Stepping away from that has caused its true meaning to be lost. Unfortunately, if we adopt this Synodal secularist garbage, we will cease to be Catholic. We will cease to be the Church founded by Jesus himself, but rathe a pseudo-protestant Mockery. The path forward is a return to the past. I challenge every Catholic reading this to attend a Traditional Latin Mass...Just One Time. You will see the difference and you will see what was taken from us. You will know why Novus Ordo churches are emptying out. That church I mentioned earlier, well, they need to expand. So, they bought a large, abandoned former Catholic church from a protestant denomination that purchased it from the diocese. Soon, after some maintenance, and remodeling, it will once again serve a growing Catholic parish. The Old way. The way it was meant to.
I am old enough to remember the “Old” Mass in “holy” Ireland. I remember people standing at the back, or even on the steps of the Church, chatting, some smoking and one or two even playing cards. They entered at the last second and were out fo there as fast as they could. Faith is what matters not some “magic” language that will make everything better.
No one said things were perfect hundreds of years ago or closer to our time. But Christendom and up to recent times spread the Faith. I love Tradition. Bring back the reverence and stop protestant style worship and speech. Bring the Faith back, which we see in actual research outcomes of those attending the TLM.

@@alfonstabz9741Gotta disagree, the church building is part of our history, how many sacrificed to build the church which sustained the faithful. The hierarchy in thier contempt for the laity, cannot be trusted in financial matters, look at the billion dollar settlement in Los Angeles, 12 years ago they had an almost equal size one. They don't have a grasp of how bad it is because they are not paying it from their personal funds, same with the buildings it is not thier home so sell it, close it, the Buffalo diocese sold a large church to the Muslims, never considered a sale to a TLM group.
@@alfonstabz9741 actually I think they met in people’s homes, but the place switched every time because of the persecution. It probably wasn’t until a couple hundred years later that they actually had a church building to go to.
@@alfonstabz9741The context doesn’t make any sense. Why would any bishop want to DECREASE the amount of parishes? We should be expanding, building new ones in addition to maintaining the old ones. This is the natural result of declining attendance and ultimately Faith. The Novus Ordo has killed that sense of local spirit into this weird new modern corporate age
Here in Cincinnati, we have grouped parishes into “Families”. My church, Saint Catharine of Sienna, is in the Family of the Most Holy Eucharist. On at least one level, musically, the result is tremendous! We have a combined choir of singers from the five parishes. The music that it produces, under the direction of Dr. David Castillo, ranges from magnificent to sublime! If you live in Cincinnati, I invite you to come to the Faure Requiem Mass that the choir is singing on November 8 at 7 PM at Saint Martin Church. The singers are working hard to rehearse for it. Based on what I heard last night at the All Saints Day - First Friday Mass, it will be very, very beautiful!
Church attendance is not in decline among Traditional Catholics. The empty churches should be given to the Society of St Pius X, and they would soon be full again.

Stop thinking the Church was just fine before the NO you're out of touch, and respect the Ecumenical Council.

This is not completely about the lack of the faithful, IT is more about the falling numbers of seminarians to the priesthood; Tell your bishop's to reach out to Africa and to South America for Priests and seminarians.
While Parishes are merging in the US & UK,,,,here in Africa, it's a total opposite...like in our local St. Joseph Parish, in the last 3yrs the parish has split and given birth to 3 fully fledged parishes.....yet still the parish with 4 sunday masses still struggle to fully serve a bulged population. In short,, believers should not be worried about the reduced mission in the west,,,,, while it is setting in the US its risen in Africa, when it will eventually set in Africa, it will rise somewhere else. Nowadays I see a lot of Indian missionaries,,,& Chinese are slowly coming on board..... Imagine!! God Himself sustains His church,,& the church is here to stay.,,, Worry not, for once a soldier of Christ always a soldier.
They always close the beautiful historic churches, and merge the parish with a more modern one. Thats something I’ve noticed. I wish it was the other way around, so these beautiful churches can be preserved.
The church I was baptized in became a Family Dollar store. I'm not joking. Family Dollar didn't even bother to take the steeple down....A Family Dollar. How sad is that?
We went through and are continuing to consolidate churches and parishioners in the archdiocese here in Connecticut and it’s been quite a success thanks to our church leadership and devoted, faithful parishioners.
there is a great need in the church to evangelize to its own lukewarm members and others...but then some of our bishops & priests lack that vision, faith & courage. so sad
What will be done with the beautiful historic buildings? So are people going to have to travel further to attend Mass? Is St Francis Xavier easily accessible to out of state visitors?
@@ohwhataday7171 Stop sowing discord among brothers. If you were as smart as you think you were, then you'd know that Novus Ordo increased mass attendance and conversion rates in countries that aren't English-speaking ones.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 In the last days there will be many troubles, because people will love themselves, love money, brag, and be proud. They will say evil things against others and will not obey their parents or be thankful or be the kind of people God wants.
We need to be each other’s church. This world is so cruel right now. We need to be inclusive instead of exclusive. We need to practice our faith as well- NOT just Sunday.
The Archdiocese of Baltimore unfortunately did very little leg work on where geographically churches are and who was going to the churches. It has left a bitter feelings and it has not helped that the closure timeline was moved from May of 2025 to December of 2024. It also does not help matters, at least visually, that the bankruptcy has coincided with the closures. There was very little warning prior to May of 2024 of what was going to happen and very little relayed to those who are in pews every weekend. We need to pray to God and Mary for our clergy and the state of the church that things get much better, not just because of now, but always.
That is the sign of the end is near. The earthly church buildings are neglected/demolished. Please know that that is the sign of the end, the second coming is near!

IT is more about the falling numbers of seminarians to the priesthood;
Tell your bishop's to reach out to Africa and to South America for Priests and seminarians.
Lord Jesus strengthen your church leaders without them we have no mass
Be strong, the church will overcome the changes. Bring in the younger generation.
We remember you in our prayers ❤
Imagine!!
God Himself sustains His church,,& the church is here to stay.,,,
Worry not, for once a soldier of Christ always a soldier.
Good luck convincing the Tridentine crowd of that. They don't like informatioon that doesn't affirm their feelings.
The prayers of generations of saints have gone up to the heavens from these places. Please don't sell them to other religions.
Especially Muslims
@@jamesmwenda5427 Muslims are God's children as well.
They always close the beautiful historic churches, and merge the parish with a more modern one. Thats something I’ve noticed. I wish it was the other way around, so these beautiful churches can be preserved.
It is a sad news for all Catholics around the world.
Wow! What a great blessing to the country.
Sad what has happened after Vatican II. 😪
How sad. Where are our Catholics? What has become of our faith. Its heartbreaking
The real sad thing is what happens to these beautiful old church buildings.
The church I was baptized in became a Family Dollar store. I'm not joking. Family Dollar didn't even bother to take the steeple down....A Family Dollar. How sad is that?
@ That’s really pathetic .
@@ernestaupperlee1755 Specifically, where did this happen?
Some have been turned into bars. Dining halls and restaurants
Trusting God is not only going to church , is how u Trust him and thank him
Catholics should conduct door to door ministry to revive church attendance. go to houses. invite people back to attend church participate.
After that they are going to hear the Pope or priest saying it doesn't. What you believe , just wait your turn to go to heaven
@@whatisthetruth.8793 it doesn't what?
@@whatisthetruth.8793 Why do you insist upon sowing discord among brothers?

We went through and are continuing to consolidate churches and parishioners in the archdiocese here in Connecticut and it’s been quite a success thanks to our church leadership and devoted, faithful parishioners.
For God 1000years are like 1 day and 1000years are like 1 day..like the qarter moon to full Moon...Church will shine again.
Here's some creative thinking for Archbishop Lori, bring back the Latin Mass and you will see attendance grow. Put Christ back into the Mass.
I'm sad to know this as a catholic.
there is a great need in the church to evangelize to its own lukewarm members and others...but then some of our bishops & priests lack that vision, faith & courage. so sad
What will be done with the beautiful historic buildings? So are people going to have to travel further to attend Mass? Is St Francis Xavier easily accessible to out of state visitors?
People dont go to Mass, yet they blame priests and bishops.
TLM brings in families. Novus Ordo is so Protestant-like and turns families away to parish mikes away.
@@ohwhataday7171 Stop sowing discord among brothers. If you were as smart as you think you were, then you'd know that Novus Ordo increased mass attendance and conversion rates in countries that aren't English-speaking ones.
Acknowledge; Strong Faith and Believe IN JESUS NAME 🙏🏻✨✨✨🌍❤️
2 Timothy 3:1-5 In the last days there will be many troubles, because people will love themselves, love money, brag, and be proud. They will say evil things against others and will not obey their parents or be thankful or be the kind of people God wants.
Glad you quote verses of the bible Some so called Christians never read the bible
We need to be each other’s church. This world is so cruel right now. We need to be inclusive instead of exclusive. We need to practice our faith as well- NOT just Sunday.
The people are the church the buildings are not as important than people hearts and souls that follow christ.
True
😢 God speed to help one another to protect it.
Read Dr. Taylor Marshal's "Infiltration" to realise Why your Catholic Churches are, closing.
The shepherds are not behaving like shepherds.
Dr. Marshal is friends with Jack Posobiec, who propagated the pizzagate hoax. Not to mention he gladly licks Trump's boots.
That is the sign of the end is near. The earthly church buildings are neglected/demolished. Please know that that is the sign of the end, the second coming is near!
Careful, mortals who try to predict the End Times have a track record on being wrong.
It's called the rapture of the church

Heartbreaking! My baptismal church is one of the Baltimore City churches that is closing
Pray they brings back them the Latin mass and the C hunch will thrive!! 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏
That's expected in the life of an organization. You have to adopt changes to grow stronger. God Bless St Anne Diocese.. MD ❤❤
Please without compromising the teachings of the catholic church changes should be made for these challenging times. We must work together with the direction of the holy spirit.
Partiality right Follow the directions of the Holy Spirit Also pray for discernment and test everything you hear from the pulpit if it is in accordance with the word of God the bible
Priests have a duty to evangelize and grow the faith and not be bound to the rectory.
The lay people need to step up
Parishioners are also supposed to evangelize. How many of them have fulfilled that duty?
Not only Priest Do Evangelisation but Every one of us must take Part in Evangelisation. We pray Our catholic s.

Prophecy being fulfilled ,many shall loose their faith before the Master Jesus Christ arrives .
Don’t put your faith in your catholic Roman church, but put your faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Faith without work is like a tree without fruits, do good works and worship because work is worship!
It’s because of the lost of money going to all those lawsuits. Have a better way of vetting who can become ordained.
The true church of Jesus Christ will never close or fail, but a church who trust on the world and human understanding will fail in the long run
Oh my God!
No alarm. Return with humble and concrite to Our Good God. He is merciful and forgiving. There is no closure in heaven. Why worry, God is with His Church, and He will never abandon it, period.
Hope it works out for the community!!!
It means member of the church is educated
The churches are closing due to the bad Pastors who say that people do not need to convert into the Catholic Church ⛪️. There are some Pastors that dos not preach the True Gospel of Jesus Christ. Let’s pray for our pastors 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
"You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor figs from thistles, are they?" The 'spirit of Vatican II' with it's liturgy abuses has resulted in an absolute cratering of the faith.
Absolutely! Hence my original comment. Come to a TLM Mass.
@@ernestaupperlee1755 Stop being a damn shill. The more you shill, the more clearly wrong you are.
Right, because Vatican I has no abuses on its record. 🙄By the way, that "liturgy abuse" actually increased conversion rates in countries that aren't English-speaking ones.
