Have you ever tried ESO? It is an mmorpg, but you play most of the stuff solo (if you want). The story quests are among the best out there in a game imho.

It's not a great mmo at all and it's not the best single player experience. It's just not recommendable to be honest. Combat was very bland.
I never understood why u would play an mmo by yourself. It's the point of an mmo to interact with others, no?

@@SimonRobeyns I had quite the opposite experience, I thought the combat was an accidental masterpiece. The developers are braindead and did not mean to make their combat good they meant it to be bland trash but currently in eso you can combo up to around 300 actions per minute (excluding movement presses) That means as an average player starting out you will probably average around 60 apm, which as you near max level and join a guild or watch some youtube videos on light attack weaving you might raise it to 120 apm, then you start getting into pvp and learn some more interesting and unique but far more difficult to learn/train combos and you can raise your apm to 180, with it topping out at in my opinion around 300 but that's completely unfeasible for a normal pvp junkie to ever reach, you'd need a whole lotta money and esports involved if you wanna attract Jaedong types and see those numbers get hit without macros.
The combat has the most skill expression and creative dynamism in how you can react and respond on a second by second basis to your environment, enemies and yourself via a fun and engaging combo system with a skill ceiling so high that if you truly put in enough effort then you can genuinely kill a whole guild by yourself (Given many failed attempts and almost perfect play by you with many mistakes on the zergs behalf) is in my opinion the best combat of any mmo ever, and I really hope to one day see a design and development team take inspiration from it and try make a combat system with this much depth on purpose not by accident and not spend the entire game history using every other mechanic and system in their game as a prop to dumb the game down to try lower the skill gap the masterstroke combat produced.
Would absolutely not recommend anyone play eso tho, Zenimax have no respect whatsoever for their customers. Just wanted to share an opposing perspective on the combat you might find interesting as not a lot of people ever thought about it past attack weaving and stopped at 120 apm. Also a lot of people are very Victorian in philosophy (Form over function) so purely see creativity or dynamism as a flashy graphical animation and not about the ability to carve their own expression in the way they interface with the medium (Which is not possible in a 1998, 1 GCD fits all combat system).
@@jacobbatchelor7877 Interesting take, but for me the animations and just the choppy elder scrolls kinda combat didn't work for me in the MMO format. I also really hated the world pvp in general. I couldn't stand the map. Maybe I just picked the wrong class but i tried the rogue first which felt horrible, like slashing at a sack of potatoes till the health bar is finally down and this paladin type with light-shit. Couldnt stand it :D glad you had fun with it.

I've had a lot more fun with this one than I expected to. The quests are really good and well written. The choices you make usually have a large impact on the story

Super cool game - loved basically everything about it, until I played with a friend. Multiplayer is horrible at the moment, hopefully it will be better, but why they chose the solution with "pick up friend", no way to complete quests together and basically no quest sharing is a mystery. It's a great "single player mmo" - but as a group of friends, it has to do better. Hopefully things will change, cause this is a pretty solid game.
yeah game sounds amazing and i was about to gather up my friends for that. but the multiplayer is a dealbreaker. dont want to play this alone and as a group it doesnt make sense like this.
you are wrong here, if you take on job with a group then you can complete it together but you return the quest separately, but main story missions you cant really do together or you can but will have separate instances. but later you need friends to do bosses right ;)

Just started playing it and I taught "eh this isn't for me but lets finish the tutorial at least". Then I played it 8 hour straight. I dont even like the combat system at all but the quests and progression somehow gives me that good vibes that classic wow gave me back in the days. Back when devs cared about writing a good story and progressing through the game wasnt a speedrun but an adventure.
For a text based story im absolutely hooked on the dialog.
The fact that quest progess is host-saved is a good thing. First off it allows you to replay them, secondly, you can avoid speedrunners ruining your lore reading attempts, and secondly, noone else do the choices for you. Having shared quest progress would just create chaos.
There are other games that support sharing quests without having those problems. Most of what you describe are issues with shared-world questing, not with shared-rewards *instanced* quests (because with those you can choose the people you go through them with, or do them solo if you want). That is actually, I believe, what he was disappointed at not having, and I would tend to agree it seems like a poor design choice, since the quests are already instanced anyway.
If I and a friend choose to both go through the same part of the same quest as a team, but she gets the quest rewards/progression and I don't, for doing the same work, that just seems kinda lame.. Hopefully they'll realize and fix that bit in the future.
Games been a lot of fun. Later game boss dungeon you actually detach from most groups and you all solo trash mobs to get to boss faster then regroup for boss fight. Team play has been a lot more interesting than I first thought.

1:39 slight correct at this point. Character creation is nothing to go crazy over, but actual customization is far more in-depth. It's just mostly locked behind a premium currency, as one would expect.
Ik it's f2p, but the full skin sets are 3500 platinum each, which is ~$91, which is actually insane, especially since several are the same thing, but recolored.
But yeah, the gameplay is good.

I don't think I have seen one person using any of the skins so far. It looks like people are reserving that sorta thing until endgame. So far, the monetary aspect has been minimal; I played free for 4-5 days, and bought premium because the game was that good. Amazing quests, and surprisingly, combat is fun. I was waiting for Lost Ark to open up, but this game has got me hooked.

I grew up playing The Realm Online. Which is the oldest running MMO in the world. The main server is still up from I think 1995? It was a sierra game 2d with turn based combat. Seeing a modern turn based mmo brings back memories.
i like it because of it's maturity level. reminds me a little of age of conan back when that was popular. women with tits out walking around. violence and gore. none of that censored advertiser friendly crap the mainstream games usually do. and yeah, turn based is a breath of fresh air. you win battles based on your wit, not your reflexes
I've been really enjoying it. The questing is a lot more interesting than I'm used to as a mmorpg player and even just seeing that there are other people around makes a big difference in how alive the world feels. The party system and the cash shop are not great and in my eyes the sole reason why they did not put the game on Steam yet.
This game looks fantastic. I would've never known about it if it weren't for this video; I've never heard of it before but it RIGHT up my alley!

Mr. Andy lets be real here, you were never going to try this game. You just wanted a chance to mention Final Fantasy 14 so you could strut about and peacock as if that game is superior and doesn't have boosts, store mounts, pets, sexy outfits, and the like all for sale. The only reason Square Enix doesn't sell gill is because it's not as valuable of a currency as gold is in other games. This was great design on their part but you better believe if it were not that way they would be selling it. FF14 has a diverse set of currency which is good but to act like they are some moral authority is silly, naive, and dishonest if you ask me.

Right on time, been curious about this one and I trust your feedback fully.
Fair review of the game. I played free for around 4-5 days, liked the questing a lot and grew to like the combat after a rocky start. Not a huge fan of the pvp aspect but it hasn't intruded overmuch so far. I ended up getting 90 days of premium time and know I won't regret that choice. In a sea of big budget MMO's, this one is a gem. Edit: I'd like to add that most quests in other games were skip-fests, where you read a couple of lines of text, and the rest was 'yada yada yada' skip please; this one actually makes you want to read what's going on. The game has some very well-written quests.

I will echo that this game has been a lot more fun than I was expecting. The art style and darker themed quest lines were the reason I gave it a try, but I think I will be playing this game for longer than I thought.

Hey Kira Just checked and I don't see a review for Disciples Liberation. Its a single player turn-based isometric RPG game and is bloody amazing. I think you and many of your viewers would love this game. Its not cheap on Steam but worth every cent. Hope you check it out.

Kira, you ever fuck with VR? I just started a new VR mmo called Zenith. Literally got lost in it. The social aspect of vr games makes it so fun. It also seems like the population and reception of the game is very good so far.

I don't have time to play as much as I used to, so if I dont see it on a real youtube channel (im not counting the shills), then I don't bother, no time to waste. Why couldn't they make it so that joining combat in party worked like in Dofus/Wakfu? Every player exist independently in the world while on party, and when a player interacts with a monster, the other players have a timer, when they can join the fight or not.

I've only played a couple of hours, so far, but I've enjoyed it. I will say, don't be overwhelmed by the combat system. IMO, the tutorial doesn't explain it very well, but once it dawns on you what they mean, it's really pretty simple (tough to use in combat, though). It's definitely an "easy to learn, tough to master" situation.
It might be worth noting that they've been running this game very successfully for 10 yr. in Poland under the name, "Pride of Taern." This version replaces that and has some changes, but the combat and economy are the same.

I think I got into the beta for this game from your channel, I really like it other then the server problems at launch have had no problems with it . Found a fun game yesterday you might like or maybe have seen already Vampire Survivors it's $3 CAD on steam right now and I already have spent 16 hours playing it so well worth the money. take care and thnx for the content ;-)
I'd give the game a shot if it weren't for the multiplayer quest issue, being required to do every quest in the game two times when I want to play with my friend is such a hassle. Other than that the game looks cool and unique for the mmorpg genre

I really enjoyed the game but decided to quit it because of how extreme the moderators are, got muted for a whole week because i only said fuck, attempted to reason with mods and admins but they saw no issue with the judgment even though they understood and agreed that what i did wasn't anything serious but they had to enforce regulations.
Kira please look into this extreme moderation issue every old player seems to be familiar and no chalant with this.

I find quite acceptable the model of Free to Play with monthly premium, It's similar to having a free demo, but better. The ability to buy stuff is a lot worse
I'm actually impressed by the visuals and the turn based combat, different for an mmorpg even if this straddles the line of said genre.

Separate progress in party play is actually a big switch off for my group. It does look like a great game however. It's just, going back to play the same quest 2-4 times falls under the category of chores. Especially if it's a quest that is a requirement for other/better/multiplayer content.
It does however look like it has room to change, not that I know anything about that.

Kinda wish they just made it a pure crpg, maybe one with multiplayer (like Neverwinter Nights, say), and that it wasn’t free to play.
Crpgs are appreciated again, what with things like the Pathfinder games or masterpieces like Disco Elysium.

Nice game to explore and play slowly. Play it like a CRPG and youll have a blast. Great storyline and characters, the devs are based and arent your average "WOMEN GOOD MEN BAD, CENSOR EVERYTHING OFFENSIVE" western crap we often get in fantasy nowadays.

Broken ranks is an old game that's been reworked actually.
given the dev said that they are going to make the mobile client, it would be fun sp mobile game and I'm going to wait for that.
Seems like an MMO that should have been a SP game. The MMO part gives the vibe that its tacked on just for the monetization (even if it wasn't the case).
Heard the cash shop is to pay special attention to. A mobile port is coming too
Until you mentioned the trading cash-shop currency for gold thing, I thought that maybe they had a monetization model I might be able to live with. I'm generally fine with buying cosmetics and non-game-altering stuff for cash if people want to do that, and while the subscription gives in-game benefits, if it's a simple on-or-off optional subscription model (which can't be stacked, etc), then at least the benefits don't depend on how much money you pump into the game, everybody gets the same benefits, as long as they can afford the same base subscription price (which was a quite reasonable subscription price, IMHO).
But of course, they had to find some way to screw it up so it's actually still pay-to-win just like everything else in the end. Sigh...
If there’s no pvp why does it matter? I agree it’s a shit model, but it doesn’t seem like a deal breaker for me for this game specifically
@@wilkic2 Well, it wasn't clear to me whether this game actually has PvP or not, but even if it doesn't, it can depend a lot on the details of the rest of the game, too. If you're stuck grinding away at tedious crap while everyone around you just buys their way to uber gear, levels up immediately, and skips all of that to leave you behind to go have fun, it can still feel decidedly unfair, and sour the gaming experience.
It may not technically be "pay to win" but it can still be "pay to not suck", which is often just as bad, or worse...
Mind you, I haven't played the game (yet), so it's hard to say whether it actually is a problem in this case, but the mere fact that it's an option suggests there's likely going to be aspects of the game that are less fun than they could be, just to make that "feature" something people will want to take advantage of.

bag slots bound to Subscription are the only thing that is game breaker for me in any FTP game.
Major problem with the game is once you hit level 30 there is no quest for 10 levels yes for 10 levels you are expected to grind, and the grind is extremely tedious you do the same repeatable task for about 2-3 days straight off cd and you farm bosses for synergy items so you can merge and... lose them or get them upgraded, but than you need to merge the merged item to merge into the merged item, it's extremely tedious gearing process. I'm number 4 on my realm and I'm running with mostly level 20 items because I just can't get enough luck for enough gear to merge and the merge fails so it feels like you are wasting your time, once you reach level 30 do yourself a favor and just stop, the only reason to play right now is to get quick plat from people by selling synergy gear. Which is a shame because I was actually digging the story, but having the grind wall just mid way was extremely jarring for me.
Dunno man, I am looking at the ingame list of quests, daily quests, tasks, dungeons, bosses and "open world" mini bosses...while its not as packed as previous levels, theres still easily over a dozen between 30 and 40
@@jakubblaha4904 Most of the quest indicated there have branching paths, basically meaning if you took a choice in the main story the other quest are blocked off, you can't do them as they require to have made a different choice during the main story, daily quest rewards are pointless you get less exp than killing 1 or 2 random encounters which take less than 3 min, the most efficient exp grind right now is to help people with Zatondemon "Magic tricks" quest and get a free 12-16k exp, do bandit task only because it gives 16k exp, other task barely give you 5-6k exp and it takes way longer. And honestly at this point I quit the game as I can't grind anymore I got burned out, I took a week off work to play with my brother and we both just realized after we returned to work, that we can't sustain playing this game, if we play 4 hours a day in the evening we will be grinding for a few months till we get a new story quest and at that point I don't remember what the story was, heck I don't remember what the story is now because I been killing bears for the past 4 days and don't want to play anymore. The task are plentiful sure, but they are pointless as the exp you get scales based on your level, so doing the same level 28 group quest (the only groups quest for now) is going to be your main goal, you can say you have different task to farm, but when they give a fraction of the exp, it's just not worth doing other task at all.

Clearly those devs are no saints on one hand, on the other they themselves wont change a corrupted market. Imho it deserves some recognition you werent forced to read some dogsht script. To me those devs look like decent people who had their hand forced into indecency by the current reality. Again, no excuses - just subjective opinion. Thank you for this vid!
