As an 82 yr. old missionary living in Cambodia, I am blessed to listen to this today. I am so grateful for my Mennonite heritage. Even better than never growing gold, soon I will see JESUS!!
My Mother was the most beautiful person in the whole world and would sing this while cooking supper on a wood burning stove, drawing water from a well or hauling hay on a horse drawn wagon. What a wonderful memory
John Martin, I have very similar memories of the farm where I grew up in upstate South Carolina. My parents taught us to love the Bible and these grand old hymns!
The evenings were warm and misty when my Mother and Father sat on the porch and sang this "one of my favorites" when the work was done for the day. I was always so close to heaven that I could feel the angels comforting me from a long day's work. I love Jesus
My dear grandmother was a Mennonite and I remember her and my dad, along with all his siblings, singing this song many times. When she finally reached the tender age of 101 she finally stepped over into that wonderful land where she too shall never grow old!!!! Oh how I treasure this song!! Thanks so much for sharing it with all of us!!!

I was in Grabill Indiana last winter, ate dinner at a home restaurant. As the kids came in from school we sat and talked. The kids sang this song to me as I sang songs to them. We had a blessed time. I want to go see them again! I think that will be a road trip in the not so near distant future!

the new testament bible says sing with your heart and understanding (1cor 14:15,James 5:13) it did not say sing with your guitar and drums it just proves musical instruments dont belong inside the church
