    I love the Piedmontese Breed of cattle have been using them since 1994. I love the meat, would not ever go back to eating anything else. Sorry to read that you sold the bulls and went to crossing your cows with a different breed. I live in Missouri and always have several animals to choose from if you ever want to get another Pied bull. Thanks for sharing the video.

    In the uk we prefer a bit more fat on our beef. We find the flavour improves with a nice covering. Nice video though. This farmer is obviously vary caring towards his animals. Thanks for sharing.

      Thanks Steve, I've gone back to Black Angus bulls. I used Pedmontese bulls for years but the market has changed and people in the U. S. now seem to want Angus beef. I still take very good care of them.
      Thanks for your comment

      is there a reason you don't use Piedmontese anymore?

    • @G3RIVER

      The price dropped for Piedmontese cross cattle so I went back to black angus.

    I'm in SC. Is it possible for me to visit the farm to view the bulls and some of their calves? We have a small Hereford x Red angus herd and we may want to try a Piedmontese . Our existing bull is a Trask Hereford.

      @@shaynelammas9413 The reason I stopped was the cost. I was doing this for Laura's Lean Beef to be sold as organic grass fed beef. I'm currently using Black Angus bulls.

  • @G3RIVER

    The bulls were sold at auction. I don't know who bought them. You could possible get some information about Piedmontese bulls from the people I bought them from. It was Richard and Linda Sharpe in Corryton, TN. phone # 800-686-9619 or 800-370-7804

    Big boys! What a beautiful breed. Might I ask, what are the birth weights from the calves that were sired by these two?

    • @G3RIVER
      @G3RIVER  7 років тому

      The average birth weight was about 75 lbs. and the calves grew rapidly.

    How old are they? and How would you compare these bulls with Belgian blue bull which is claimed to grow from 60 kg at birth to 600 kg in just two years and to 750 kg in three years? I want to raise calf for meat but i dont want to raise them for two years per calf. What do you recommend? Thanks.

    • @G3RIVER
      @G3RIVER  7 років тому +2

      These bulls were 3 years old. I don't know anything about Belgian Blue. I sold calves from these bulls at 11 months old and they would average 700 lbs.

    How often did you have to pull calves? These were some bruisers bulls!

    • @G3RIVER
      @G3RIVER  9 років тому +1

      I only use 2 year heifers or cows that have already had calves. If you put them with young heifers you will have a problem, to answer your question we don't have to pull many calves with this system.

    Sounds like these are the opposite of Waygu beef which is super fatty and sells for a huge amount per lb. Why have beef that is so low in fat?

  • @shaynelammas9413
    @shaynelammas9413 2 роки тому

    You Said you are using Black Angus bull l would also use a Polled Hereford bull but Swap the Black Angus for a Red Angus Bull because the Red Angus is more heat tolerant than the black Angus if not better too tho Mr Connor . We also have Limousins but the brown type not black tho

  • @G3RIVER
    @G3RIVER  12 років тому

    The calves have a low birth weight 50 to 75 Lbs. Just like any other calves you might have one that will be larger. I would not recommend putting them with young first time heifers. I like to use 2 year old heifers. I would say the growth rate is about the same as a good black angus. They clam they grow faster, but I don't think so.

      I sold these bulls last year. They were beautiful animals and I miss having them around. Everyone wants to know about them and all I can say is I'm glad for my experience with them. But it is all about making money and over here Black Angus seems to be the way to go.

    It sad to think that humans would be one of the easiest animals to prey on if it wasnt for our intellect
    we would be a the literal BOTTOM of the food chain.
    Edit: im not trying to say those cows want to eat us but i without a gun we stand no chance even against an average size cow or a large pig or even a pony
