Or Sudden Shock, to get around Pact of Negation or them just paying 18 instead of 19 life. Although of course Sudden Shock is 1R, which you won't always have. Sudden Shock is hilarious but probably not actually good.
This is the sort of content that keeps me interested in Legacy. Six had a surprisingly good showing, it's such a grindy card. Great league, very fun watch.
I kept wishing you had one or two ghost quarters to take them off basics once they ran out of ones in deck. Phantom already pressures their basic count so it might be worthwhile, especially if you're replaying them off wayfarer and the likes. Eventually it's much better than wasteland
Love the video Phil! Just wanted to congratulate Wizards for making Turn 1 wins even more viable😂 I don't mind, i love a good storm deck, but i've seen and heard a lot of people are not too happy about it
I wonder if Loam would a suitable replacement in the Deeproot spot. It synergizes way better with Six as it enables you to play multiple things from your GY each turn, especially since both mill cards. It would also make the Mox Diamond you mentioned at the end of the video much better.
Hey Phil! As always love the decks and the commentary. I think there was a strictly better line at 43:36 wether they have removal or not, which was to put reclaimer and white orchid in front of the 2/3 and then reclaimer in front of the 1/2. If they don't have removal then they basically loose on the spot (throw 2 cards so that they remove 1 reclaimer? Throw hand to have 1 frog survive combat but still loose the other and get only white orchid phantom?.) If they have push + random card, then their best line is to push the reclaimer in front of the 2/3 and let the 1/2 frog die, which kills your phantom in combat. That way they would loose push + frog and would not get to draw any card, you would loose reclaimer + phantom. Game is still live there and your outcome is better I think. Your outcome (we dont know if they had removal or not) means trading phantom + card drawn x frog, which looks like a worse outcome than what would've happened in the split push had they had the removal imo? Thanks for the content!
Basically at any point they can push a reclaimer to convert their result into the other result but having drawn 1 more card and having 1 less counter on the frog that is alive, which basically is (in the worst case) a free cycle?
I think the selection of a single Lush Portico is really worthwhile here. Yes it undermines your T2 Phantom, but only if you've got no other W source in your hand on T2. The number of times you were Reclaimering or Flagstones to deckthin and hoping for a good topdeck might've turned some matches. Surveiling a permanent threat is also potential card advantage with Six
Surprised not to see a one-of Loam in the deck or any other utility lands... but I suppose there's no way you could fit a Saga package or something of the sort in this gameplan. Is the green-white creatureland worth a damn?
Likewise surprised. I was also kinda surprised to not see a singke ghost quarter or sone basic land kill, to eventually run them out of the 1 or 2 basics they may have. Or maybe a singleton copy of depths stage to fish for as a somewhat cheap combo kill.
My first ever T1 deck was land-D, back in 1999-2000ish. 4x stone rain, pillage, thermorcast, wasteland. Finishers were ernhman djinn & balduvian horde 😅
Is Gut Shot maybe a good sideboard card versus Necrodominance? Assuming they go down to 1 life each time, they can pay the 19 life, and with the draw ability on the stack, pay 2 life to ding them one and they're dead. Maybe get 2+ in hand versus when they have chancellor of the annex as well.
Not sure how much I like Thalia alongside Vexing bauble as she makes the bauble do nothing. I’m sure it’s normally fine but I’d be worried about that nonbo
At 11:34, how does his opponent cast Beseech? Necro triggers at the beginning of the end step is there a 2.nd main after the Necro trigger resolves? or could he cast Beseech at instant speed? I don't get it.
born upon a wind gives their stuff flash, so as long as they can string instant speed mana into manamorphose to make blue for born upon a wind, they can then play their stuff before moving to the cleanup step
In Round 5, Match 2, isn't it a little dangerous to run out Thalia as well as two Vexing Baubles, given thalia tax turns on Force of Vigor and similar cards. Or is it that putting pressure on the oppo and closing the game faster is the safer choice vs oops all spells?
I really liked this deck. Was gonna say though, I feel like the elves aren’t doing much since you don’t have many of the important utility lands in the deck. Maybe replace them with something else? You almost entirely used them as 3/4s, which is fine I guess.
Some people enjoy doing that to others. But yeah, I don't enjoy getting combo-killed before my first turn either. Ultimately though, this is competitive Legacy, so you need to rely on bans and not on players's good will to stop stupidity like this.
On one hand yes, on the other hand this deck needs G and WW in the early turns and already has a bunch of lands that produce 0 or 1 colors. We've seen Phil in the games occasionally not being able to cast spells. So realistically speaking you'd have to play Ghost Quarter over a spell, not a land, if you want to be able to keep casting your own spells. And I don't know if Ghost Quarter is good enough in that context. Maybe as a sideboard card? I think if they're on the ropes and you have Elvish Reclaimer active, it might be better to just get a Nantuko Monastery and murder them (keep in mind that with Moxen and Lotus Petal, some decks will eventually get out from any amount of land destruction).
You need to use flash so that you can immediately make use of the cards drawn with Necrodominance during your end step OR to combo off during your opponent's upkeep to shut off Force of Negation.
I sorta wish White Orchid Phantom were Legendary (or at least 1W). Delighted Halfling seems like a significant upgrade but obviously doesn't play well with the Phantom. /edit/ I made this comment before watching the video where Phil immediately discusses this same topic hahah
@@andrewwang7699 "how do people stand playing a FORMAT", I assume. Yeah, the turn 1 combo kill deck is pretty stupid -- and it's not even that glass cannony because it can easily play Pact of Negation maindeck. I hope Necrodominance eats a ban.
I don't agree. This is very clearly a "kill them early or lose" type or deck, hence the possibility of hardcast / recur'd Solitude isn't that good (you'll lose against an actual control deck anyway if the games go long). And in the early game, I prefer not to lose my White Orchid Phantom or Stoneforge Mystic to remove their creature (because that's what you'll often have to pitch). If this deck wasn't so early game focused,, then I'd agree.
Winning turn 1 on a mull to 3 makes me want to puke
This was just unhealthy.
Based on that, and the fact that necropotence is banned in the format, I don't see necrodominance evading the banhammer for long
LED echo has been around for years. They need exactly BBB and a necro, it’s the same chance. This is way more dangerous.
Do I like land destruction? NO! I LOVE IT! I am land destruction biggest fan.

It's actually been discussed a bit, and I think a lot of the players have been opting to go down to 2 life post board for exactly that reason.
