Unveiling of Alan Freed monument in Cleveland

  • The ashes of legendary disc jockey and creator of the term Rock and Roll Alan Freed were laid to rest in a ceremony at Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland. A ceremony was held and a monument was unveiled. Legendary disc jockey and rock historian Norm N. Nite called the Freed family to the covered monument and they unveiled it. Little Steven Van Zandt and others posed with the new monument to the Father of Rock and Roll. www.clevelandpeople.com/

    Alan Freed....without him, the Platters, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Fats Domino , Jerry Lee Lewis , would have gone largely unknown
    His importance cannot be overstated. You deserve to still be in the Hall of Fame, it wouldn’t have existed without you

    What a beautiful monument!! Alan Freed.. Definitely an influence on me being a DJ. Playing them Real Oldies ...
    Well, Sad to say , Barry White was not the piano player on Jessie Belvin's song, Goodnight My Love..
    Barry White in a 1995 interview has denied playing on this song..
