Dear Uthermal here are the most common 4v4 builds: 1)Nexus first into skytoss no early game units, adepts are too expensive XD 2) 1 base swarm host nydus, who needs an expo! 3) convince your entire team to rush 4) Mass BC or Mass Thor, but you can only move out once you have at least 10. 5)cannon rush 6) Nydus Hydra and DT drop also get an honorable mention. It's pretty hard to play a 4v4 and not see one of these. Please have a Mass nuke game in 4v4 one of these days and disrupt the meta! ❤
Yea do some coordinated things with viewers even. Have everyone mass expand instantly behind cannons and DTs. It has a lot of variety and many more people to get reactions from in game.
I like the idea of your nuke spam in random locations in a 4v4 Game. Will it hit an enemy base or an army whether enemy or ally or will it miss completely. Nobody knows and everyone will have to worry when they here nuclear launch detected😂

All i did 2010-2012 was to play random 4v4 and ended up at like #7 on eu ladder (most players who were high up there were lamers who forged groups of 3 people which still meant they were eligible for random 4v4 and had unbeatable strats planned that a fully random 4 team would struggle to win against). I really liked it cause you could do mixed builds with your team that worked well together, for example I spent many games perfecting a colossus+range rush and if the team defended them it would totally crush
Usually someone asks “rush?” or declares a rush with an attack timing like rush 330. But it is usually chaos. 1. AFK teammates at start 2. Teammate who gets attacked first and takes damage leaves early 3. Team killer trolls
There are def 4v4 builds. I only play 4v4s for many years. It’s fun and there’s some sense to all the chaos. Currently playing in the Master league. There are a lot of units that’s really hard to make it work because maps are big and multiple races means easier ways to counter. Also for your first game, you’re meant to share those bases with your allies. Bases are definitely more limited than 1v1s.
I think the strat is building 100 supply of zerglings and rally them in the enemy base, so in reality it just comes down to whoever StarCraft crashes last wins
yes 4v4s have builds, you have to coordinate more than 2v2s. you can do a bunch of stuff, delayed mass reaper, or cannon rush into funneling some player. many games either ends in the early game, with huge aggression or a turtle type because it takes so long to go across the map. CC first almost always unless the maps is terrible for it. another strat is to cannon contain and bon-cloud to opponent's bases first and lock them in on only their main and natural, then you starve them out.
in 4v4 we would make our best player keep us alive (basically play normally) and then the rest of us just do whatever we want one game one of us massed widowmines, I made nothing but zlots, the other protoss made sky toss and then the best player made marine / tank
that is a good strategy, Usually a 1 -2 Protos or Terran are closing the hatches and build defenses against the initial rush and the others playing greedy to tech up as fast as possible. Got a bit more difficult on the newer maps - they have more ramps.
There's nothing more fun than mid level 4v4 (ie platinum and diamond). The chaos, the variety of strategies you see, the fact that pretty much anything is good if you can macro, there's always something unexpected. When you get into master level its still a lot of fun but you have to be prepared for rushes or rush yourself to survive the early game and usually it doesn't get past the early game.
The "Support Terran" challenge I suggested would have been so good here, esp with 2 zerg teammates and one was rushing mutas! I implore you to consider it.

Oh my, the Zerg used blinding cloud on window memes at 12:45 and baited his allies' BC's in! For those who don't know, widow mine shots are spell damage and ignore blinding cloud completely.
As a masters 4v4 it tends to devolve into large T3 unit clumps. One player will mass viking and another mass carrier. people rush straight for mass thors. fast expanding is very common. That or its a rush attack scenario where they all target 1-2 players on the enemy team.
4v4 is the goat of strategy. i normally freestyle and it suits my curiosity- one of my builds was carrier, colossus with 10 gate dt - lots of players builds are optimized, like a 2 void rush is quite popular.
You can download a key remapper and bind your capslock key to another key that isn't normally useful for anything. Then in the SC2 UI, bind that to what caps is used for now.
Uthermal knows the hungarian food gulash(gulyás), well dutch and west eu ppl usually like when they are in Hungary. In 4v4 1 or 2 ppl, most likely ppl in the middle just focus on BC/Carriers, nothing else, most likely carriers because they are the absolute A-move monstrocities.
4v4 is really fun bc even though im usually a 1v1 player its super chill how you dont have to counter the other person’s strat and can just do your own thing
The second game made me think maybe it would be possible in some context to make only probes and cannons at all. It would be so fun to see someone with like 12 bases, maxed on probes just chugging cannons. It's probably far too weak of a strategy to work in any scenario lol but I had to comment after seeing such absurdity in my head

I just unbound it - which is a bit of a hassle since it isn't user friendly/offered as an option within windows, as far as I know... Got tired of pushing it and I rarely use it anyway. I'll keep shift pressed when I do need it.
Hello uThermal. I may have a new challenge idea for you. Since the new patches seems to allow having high amount of minerals, it may be possible to get very easily 250-300 supply with Zerg. So the challenge could be max out fast and save some money to get 250-300 supply, where you try to build 250-300 supply in a grandmaster game. May it is a try worth. GL HF :)
Do more 4v4 please. This was more enjoyable. Changing the game through mods and rule sets feels like it wears out on entertainment value quickly because it can't be as easily replicated in game by your audience. Your content is best because you make every day SC2 gameplay relatable and entertaining. Good job! :)
I’ve been playing 4v4 Diamond for a while now. It’s basically a monobattle: T builds either Thors or BCs, P builds either Carriers or Tempests. As a Zerg, I struggle a lot as I don’t have a single strong catch-all unit. If the enemy has at least something on the ground I go for Ultras. Otherwise, ling + corruptors is basically the only option. I’ve tried Infestors or Vipers but it’s really hard for me to control them properly. Some Zergs go for Nydus which I think is cool.

One of your mates usually has something else and not all of your enemies are going to the tanky units. There are plenty of late games you see in 4v4 with bio, blink stalker, ling flood, For instance when I loose my carrier /tempest against Thor I usually transition into chargelots, DT. and go for a base trade. The maps are big and Thor are slow.
Please Do a Protoss 4v4 where you mass sentries, and send squads of them with each of your allies' armies. Just endless forcefields, shields and holograms
it's prob cuz im a platnum noob, but you mentioned not keybinding your warpgates at 31:57. Can't you just use 'W' to select all of your gates? (unless you re-bound it)

I mean there’s probably definitely strategies for race matchup 4v4s in there. 4 Zerg and 4 Protoss? Rush two voidrays and idk if a spore crawler and a queen could even get a kill kinda thing
It's something to watch for, especially if there are Two or more players in the same clan opposing, I first started getting mass Queens in wol because 5 ray rush.
Maybe those are stupid questions...lost gateways - don't you have "select all warp-gates" hotkey mapped? "I don't have DTs on rapid fire" - can't you simply select a DT (or any other unit) and shift+rapid fire hotkey warp it in?
Hi Thermy! I just saw a video showing that SCVs on auto-repair will repair other mechanical units that share cargo space with them in a medivac. I have never once seen this utilized except in that video I learned it from, and even there, I think it was unintentional. Can you please use this in an upcoming episode? 💚

You can also right click your medivacs to zerg allies. Roach-medivac attack.
