This should have been explained to viewers! This is for older 6 speed Honda automatics. The newer 9 Speed ZF also found in some late model Pilots do not use this fluid! Honda 3.1 fluid is used on Honda ZF 9 Speeds.
Nice video. Exactly what i needed. Our transmission was surging and brought it to the dealership under the 12 month warranty and they did it for us at no charge. The surging corrected itself. I have never just changed the transmission fluid on an automatic. I now know that I have to on this car. I will probably be doing it more often. Just a note for you... If you pour the fluid with the bottle facing the other way, it will not gurgle. Another words, have the spout facing your hand. At first it doesn't seem right, but when you notice that air is allowed to get back into the bottle and the fluid doesn't chug out, you will be thankful.

The title says this video covers 2016 to 2019. I have a 2018 elite model with a 9 speed CVT transmission and I could not find a dipstick, so I went to my Honda dealer and asked about it. They told me it does not have a dipstick. It has three one time use fill plugs that have to be replaced at $40 a piece. The fluid does not get completely drained. They just add what’s needed.
@@RBTheMechanic It does have 3 fill plugs, each of which are one time use. I mentioned that in my original comment. They were very difficult to get to however and I am not going to try it.

Sounds like you have the 9 speed transmission. Those use different oil than the 6 speed. The oil also cost more in your case. I think it is the elite and touring trims that need the 3.1.
You don't check it with car running - Honda ATF levels are checked with the car turned off - just like engine oil - Hondas are unique in this way - as a Mechanic you should know this !
Me also question why the car was running when he check the ATF level. Warn engine but off is why to check the ATF level. Check it within 60-90 seconds after the engine is off.

With Honda 6 speed ATs, the engine needs to be warm but TURNED OFF to measure the ATF level.

Hi there. Don’t you need to replaced filter. Only fluids.
Yes that can be done after few fluid changes
Where is the transmission filter on this Honda Pilot? Do I need to change it too?
Here’s video in accord ua-cam.com/video/2JXmlRCh19I/v-deo.html
It might be around the same place but not sure and changing it I would replace it after like 90k miles
So , I get all that, but is the fluid checked in park? Neutral?, drive? Or off?
U can’t check these it has too off bolt u have to open that if it drips it’s good
Do you know how much is the oil if you get it from the dealer?? Thank you
It’s like close to $12 quart
Great vid. What is the size of the washer? Is it 14mm, like the engine oil crush washer?
No it’s bigger special washer u can get it from dealer
I think it's 18mm

Ok they also say remove whole suspension to remove struts? Would u follow that? When u can do it easier way
My 2017 Honda pilot has sistem transmission problem on but it’s shifting ok
Same here! Did you do this or what did you do and did it fix the problem?
That transmission dip stick location is the worst.
Plus oil filter location sucks.
Honda motor engineers should talk to body builders at some point.
Yeah nothing we can do the Travis soon down in there deep down
Do you change the filter?
The total quarts did you put on it ? Thank you
Not sure don’t have information on back of my head u might have to go through the video
3.3 qts
fluid goes in same hole as dip stick???
I show it in video
There us a fill hole with a fill plug on top of the tranny to fill the ATF fluid.
In the video he use the dip stick tube to fill tjis car...
How many miles you had on the pilot since last fluid change. The fluid looked old.
Customer bought this used so we don’t know how many it had or if it had any fluid changes before
You forgot to mention the size of the tool: 3/8 or 1/2?
3/8
Do you change the transmission filter? Or no
No customer bring only fluid
Why I cant f*cking find the filling plug/pin on my Honda Pilot 2017 Touring AWD ? 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️. Have been looking for it and can’t find it.

You have a 9 spd transmission on Touring model. This video shows a 6 speed.
Must be a 6 speed. My 9 speed fill location is different
I was told that there is no dipstick on a 9 speed transmission , therefore you cannot do the drain and fil procedure .
