As a Leeds fan I have to say that some of my all time favourite players were in this Villa side,Mortimar,Tony Morley,Cowens, golden boy Shaw. What a team and atmosphere it was at Villa Park.If I wasn’t a Leeds fan I would have been a Villa fan no doubt about it.Always had a soft spot for Villa even still. It’s saddens me to see the animosity that as developed between a section of fans from both clubs over the last few years but I and loads more Leeds fans have nothing but respect for you’re club and supporters.you’re a massive club with amazing history and support.Villa park is my favourite away ground in the country, we’ll it used to be when it was all standing behind the goal in the away end, All the best lads.
hi martin im from birmingham but have lived in south yorkshire for the last 32 years i bumped in to gary shaw ! i heard his accent got talking to him ! hes only a rep for the brewery in leeds small world when he didnt have his head on ! he was day dreamer but god when he was on it ! such a great player for villa also his watering hole was the bel air golf club along with a lot off other players !! stood at the bar giving it large always had a flock off women around him great days lol regards

Watched this several times now, always brings a lump to my throat, and tears to my eyes! I was 13 when we Won The European Cup, its emotional! We won when on The Champions were allowed in it! Before the Millions n Billions came into game and created false money clubs! We won on a level playing field, against a great Bayern Munich with great players! But not as Great as the Villa Lions! Awesome memories, I was in the City Centre crowd when The Trophy came home.... truly a magical experience! Utter Joy!👏🏆👍🙏

I had all their pics cut out from Shoot magazine and pasted all over my room in Malaysia. Mum was so mad at me Shaw, Withe, Morley, Cowans, Geddes, Mortime, Bremner,r, Swain, McNaught, Evans, Spink, Rimmer...memory not upto par. Used to fantasize as a kid, how I could play like Cowans ( my hero when was 12).Mimic his style.
Good for you! It was Tony Morley for me as a hero, even though I was a striker. I watched the European Cup final on TV and was in the crowd in Birmingham when Villa paraded the trophy. Incredible time!

And a class act from Gerrard, insisting that today's players give the boys from '82 a guard of honour instead of other way round, as was originally planned.

I was in the North stand during their lap of honour and had the pleasure of explaining to my 7 year old that….” those old lads on the field, well, when they were young, they brought the European Cup back to Villa Park!” So proud of those players, I was choking back the tears, as the theme tune from The unmade silent movie, echoed around Villa Park
Absolutely magnificent. The players were so stoked at their reception. A tinge of sadness though - every time you see Gary Shaw you ponder how his career would’ve been without injury. Ok he got a Championship medal and EC medal, but perhaps if fate was kinder he may have played for England in Mexico 86…who knows UTV from Australia
Gary Shaw really should have gone to the World Cup in Spain in 82 but for some reason wasn't selected....and of course it was a lack of goals that cost England in the end.
For what this club has achieved and all its history, we must stand up and harness everything we have got and beat Man City. It is to send a message. A message of what a proper club with proper history represents. A message that this club is going to be a force again! So come on, Villans!
