4:14 "mnt" is short of "maantee", which means "highway". In the UK, this type of steet would be typically called a "'road" (or "rd" for short): Paldiski Road.

Thanks for that explanation Al Ex. I assumed it was something like that. We wish we understood more Estonian. 😊 ~ Lee

    Nice vid!
7:41 you were so close to my flat. :) 5-storey building with yellow balconys.
That coastal path from Stroomi beach to the Rocca al Mare is great, i often cycle there.
    Rocca al Mare
The beautiful name of the district is Italian for ‘a rock by the sea’ and was given to a namesake summer mansion in the area two centuries ago. Today, this district is home to the Estonian Open Air Museum.
Saku Kuld is my favorite beer too. (Kuld means Gold in English)
Saku Kuld is the finest brew of Estonia’s oldest brewery. It is the cream of the crop when it comes to
beers. It is a masterpiece that entwines two centuries of brewing traditions with the latest technology.

Wow... it's so cool that we were so close to your flat! We're interested in everything, not just the tourist areas :))
Thank you for sharing this great information about Rocca al Mar and Saku Kuld. We always love to get local insights and info, so we appreciate you taking the time to comment. I have to say that Upside down Alexander is still one of my favourite beers! ~ Mandy

Hello again! I just saw a notification about your comment on our Exploring Braga video, but I think the UA-cam bots might have hidden it as you reference another UA-cam channel. Would you be able to maybe reword your comment and try to post it again, as I completely agreed with you! Cheers! ~ Mandy

Oooh, these youtube nazibots really piss me off. I said that its sad that your Estonia videos get so much less views than Portugal ones, which are great 👍 by the way. I tried to recommend one british couple tube c who spent almost 6 months in Estonia when pandemic started. they have great videos. T I D E K N O T T R A V E L L E R S

@@etunimisukunimi1981 Thanks for that. Isn't it crazy that you can say nazibot and piss me off with no repercussions... but suggest another channel and your comment is wiped out! Thanks for the recommendation... I'll check them out ! Mandy

@@etunimisukunimi1981 Oh, and I agree that it's sad that our Portugal videos get more views than our Estonia ones... but our Pirita Beach video has done way better than my Lagos Algarve beach video! It's never predictable! ~ Mandy

I have to admit it was pretty funny to watch that video as an Estonian, but I loved every second of it! 😅 You should definitely come back and visit Kopli, Noblessner and Nõmme!

Tallinn is a fascinating city, and well worth a visit. We loved the contrast between the old wooden buildings and the purpose built Soviet estate! ~ Mandy

Hahhha... the beach is definitely Lee's happy place - he loves being by the water :)) Sitting at Baltijamma Turg and having a beer in the late afternoon sun surrounded by locals was one of my favourite things to do in Tallinn. It was a brilliant experience and just so mellow! ~ Mandy

9:26 funny you should say "...and bottles" as you are panning across a place called "Pudel", which translates from Estonian as a "Bottle" ;-)
Fun fact: this place is owned by a brit, who previously had a place called "Drink" in the old town but left it to his ex wife after divorce.
Btw, the "Drink" did not survive over the Covid lockdown. The "Pudel" did!

    • @FrugalTravellers
      @FrugalTravellers  3 роки тому

WOW 😳. This is brilliant. I didn't know Pudel meant bottle.
All these places in Telliskivi seemed to be doing really well. It's such a popular place.
The Brit did well to move out there! Thanks for the info. 😊👍~Lee

But there’s places called pirita, nõmme and kopli too i personally haven’t been in kopli long time but it should be repaired now kopli was this place where you didn’t want to go back in the day because there were drug addicted people and gangsters

I don't know.. I quite like Brutalist architecture. It's everywhere... Lee's hometown in the UK has so many concrete Brutalist monstrosities, as does parts of Auckland but I like them and the murals. Thank you though for sharing your opinion as it's good to hear from others.

@@FrugalTravellers ... totaly inhumane !... nearest thing to it is the army were they cut your hair short and all look the same !... still, there is a reason for it in the army!... just need to see what Estonians have built for centuries and you will undertand easyly that those constructions were brutality imposed from the outside, by the soviets... any person with some common sense understands that.
