I’m autistic and I also used to work at Goodwill industries. There wasn’t anyone at the one I worked at who had DS but there were a pretty huge amount of people there from employment prep programs for people with disabilities and some were autistic including me. I was just there for a 3 month work integrated learning though, I didn’t get hired on unfortunately. There wasn’t enough business there to hire me on to a paid position.

Having cameras doesn't mean you can monitor everything. There are also blind spots that most employees know of. Most days cameras are simply a deterrent or a method of proving an accusation true or false.

We were all at a pool once in the 90’s with my cousins church and the preachers son had Down’s syndrome, he sat on my cousin who was twice his size in the pool as a joke and almost killed him. He said it was terrifying. 😩. Most ppl with DS are too peaceful tho to actually act out any kind of violence in a fight though.

Yes we DO need certain special treatment and require more help, but being called “different” or “special it’s like twisting the knife. He worked at different company and he knew how to discriminate towards a person that had a Intellectual disability. He Is purposely made fun of John and had enough with his crap. I saw what he was doing to my friend and he didn't expect me to stand up to him. I was picked on most of my life and sadly John passed away in 2016 at age 56 years old.
