Rozszumiały się Wierzby Płaczące but you're waiting for the Red army to "liberate" Warsaw

- The Warsaw Uprising was a major World War II operation, in the summer of 1944, by the Polish underground resistance, led by the Polish resistance Home Army, to liberate Warsaw from German occupation. The uprising was timed to coincide with the retreat of the German forces from Poland ahead of the Soviet advance. While approaching the eastern suburbs of the city, the Red Army temporarily halted combat operations, enabling the Germans to regroup and defeat the Polish resistance and to destroy the city in retaliation. The Uprising was fought for 63 days with little outside support. It was the single largest military effort taken by any European resistance movement during World War II.

Stepfather's father fought with the Polish Legion at Monte Cassino, after being released from a Siberian labour camp in 1941. Survived and moved to Canada, died in the late 80s.
Never lived to see a free Poland, think about that a lot. 🇵🇱
In westlichen Ländern heist Polen Gänselischen..
My great grandfather also served at Monte Cassino. He also survived but he died in 1996. Maybe our forefathers fought together.
My stepfather's grandpa wasn't so lucky. At least he got his own gravestone at Monte Cassino.
Hopefully Ukrainian children will see a free Ukraine
Jesus I just found these comments I'm sad now

Liberation was somehow even worse than German occupation
As a Poles I thank you for this video

My polish co-worker sings this while he's working (he's about 40, living in the Uk and has relatives that are still alive that lived during ww2). Me being a history buff I said "Ah Farewell of Slavankia, great war time song, you must think of them as liberators" he looked at me with a thousand yard stare and said "The Russians did not liberate us, they just replace Hitler with Stalin and the struggle continued till 1989. The home army were the liberators". That's when my obsession with the polish resistance fighters started. I feel honoured that an entire polish squad fought with the Royal Air Force fought with us during WW2
Polish RAF Squadrons 303 and 302. If you want you can look up a song which is called "Hymn dywizjonu 303" - they had their own anthem. Also many polish Soldiers as well as even Generals - General Stanisław Maczek among them - the famous commander of the 1th Polish Armoured Division settled down in the UK after the war after they could not return to their beloved homeland for which they fought. Many of them settled own in Scotland, particulary Edinburgh where there is also a statue of the famous bear Wojtek who fought at Monte Cassino, but many soldiers and officers continued their live in England and the US also. Cześć i Chwała Bohaterom!

As a Texan, an American, and a fierce advocate for independence, the impossible resilience of the Polish people and nation absolutely inspire me. This is a nation that has been invaded and betrayed by her neighbors for CENTURIES, and yet her people and her culture remain to this day, and stronger than ever. May Poland remain indomitable until the end of time.

Almost gotta commend Stalin for the big brain move. Let the Germans bleed resources putting down the uprising, and deplete the Poles so they can’t resist against you, knowing the Allie’s won’t do anything. I’d be impressed if it weren’t so heinous and the results devastating and catastrophic for the people of Poland. God bless them for surviving this madness

yup, compared to Americans, who waited til 1944 to join the war, Stalin is the true monster.

It's funny that you upload it today. It's my grandmothers 77th birthday. She was fleeing from warsaw with her mother after the uprising when she was just few months old. She always told me that her mother used to feed her scraped carrot beacuse she didnt have energy to produce milk. They used to live on Wola district which was place of the infamous Wola massacare. It's interesting that you used the fragments of speech of the President of the Republic of Poland from the beginning of the war with Nazi Germany, but it makes more sense than I thought, because the war with them did not end in 1944

Imma try to translate it, and even tho my english is pretty shit, i can try. (Also, some of the lyrics may be diffrent beacuse some of the words dont even have an english counterpart):
Crying willows made a noise
The girl cried out loud
From the tears she brought up her shining eyes
For the bitter soldier's life fate
For the bitter soldier's life fate
Dont send a willow to us
Sorrow which tears a heart apart
Dont cry my girl
Beacuse in the guerilla it isn't bad
They play to our dance
Cannon's and sten's noise
Death harvests like fief
But we dont know what's fear
Is it rain is it sun burn's
Everywhere a regular equal step can be heard
Its the forest infantry going to battle
On lips a song on face a happy sight
On lips a song on face a happy sight
They play to our dance
Cannon's and sten's noise
Death harvests like fief
But we dont know what's fear
They play to our dance
Cannon's and sten's noise
Death harvests like fief
But we dont know what's fear
This is the most accurate translation i can think of, i changed some parts as it would sound like nonsense to an english speaker, hope i helped :D

My grandfather's brother fought in the Uprising. He moved to Florida after the war and started a family. They visited us in Poland in the 80's, couldn't even speak Polish. Wonder where they are now, if they still remember their heritage.
Niech zyje Polska!

It’s so horrible what the Polish people had to go through. Between Germany, the Soviets and the horrific Holocaust the country never had a break. May God bless the Polish people and I am so glad they are now protected within NATO. I pray never again will Poland have to give up its sovereignty unprotected.
The Russian army was ~40 miles away from the city when they halted. Soviet artillery ceased, it was undeniable the Soviet intent.
as a pole i love this video, in a short bit it potrays a little piece of history that is often forgotten as the Warsaw Uprising, since there are two one is ignored, the warsaw ghetto uprising is the one most remembered and taught in the west while the Warsaw Uprising is often forgotten. My great grandparents fought in the uprising , both have passed but both met there and fell and love and a few years after the war my grandfather was born and he lived through the entire PRL-u times. now Poland is free and independant and im glad both my grandparents lived long enough to see it.

@@user-xe3ng6sj9o don't discuss about something that you have no idea.
@@komendantyayo pfft so you are saying poles liked soviet union and waited for its support after all horrible things done in 1939?
@@user-xe3ng6sj9o No one said Poles liked Soviets but was there any other choice? They could totally surredner to nazis or fight them while the soviet army comes to help them. What is known is that they waited for Poles to die during uprising to have less problem with them while "liberating" Warsaw.
I had a Home Army (AK) officer in my family [*]
I wouldn't say "liberate", more like "take over".
"under new management"
The title has "liberate" in quotes, showing that it is supposed to be taken sarcastically, the poster of this video knows full well it wasn't liberation.
I dont know if you take suggestions like another hero of the genre, but I wanted to suggest Warren Zevon's Jungle Work from the 80s when conflicts in Grenada and Panama were at the forefront of the news. It's a kickass song and I think it deserves your skillful mixing of combat ambiance to give it the night ops commando badassery it deserves.
I do take suggestions yeah, I'll screenshot this one, thanks mate
FEELS MAN
Feels so weird understanding what theyre saying
also the berret fits questionably, as does the 1939 radio broadcast
Nice.
I don't know if the title "waiting for the Red army to liberate Warsaw" is appropriate. Russians didn't treat Poles the same way as allied forces treated French or Belgian people. What came along with that liberation was robbery, rape and murders coused by soviets. Furthermore I am not sure how the diplomatic status looked like back then, but in 1939 USSR invaded Poland so technically it was a change of occupant rather than liberation as some say. If I am wrong let me know; I am open for discussion.
I think rape and robbery were strictly prohibited in the red army. Zhukov and Rokosovskyi (who is a pole btw) personally made sure that no war crime would be made. Those who made actions mentioned above were sentenced to death through shooting by their own battalion members
@@user-xe3ng6sj9o it doesn't matter if this was prohibited, there was nobody that could stop those red bastards from doing it.
@@user-xe3ng6sj9o you just dont know how it really was because youre not polish :)
I think that the title is correct.
At this point, the common enemy was the axis, and that’s most likely what the poles thought as well. The soviets held back, encouraging the polish partisans to rise up against the germans. This move forced the germans to waste ressources, and at the same time put down the polish partisans, so that they couldn’t rise up against the new soviet regime.
In the end they got best deal, they could get from this war.
I noticed that one the resistance fighters on the pic is using Wz.1928 a lisenced copy of M1928A2 B.A.R
