    I'm in awe over the accuracy of this gun. Just a tiny movement and the shell will land 100 yards from it's target. But somehow someone figured out how to make sure this gun always hits within 10 yards of it's target.

      It will do so if those m982 Excalibur rounds are used. with "normal" unguided artillery rounds it just has a cep of 50-200m .. like most artillery...

      Especially with MRSI firing capabilities those 50 to 200m are pretty good.

    Hearing that from a distance is still loud. And if you are close enough, and the artillery is firing over you, you can hear the round flying through the air over your head. Really did happen at Iron Focus, I think. I think it was Iron Focus. If ya know ya know🤷. Fun times lol

    Its amazing that today's artillery: computer aided, using GPS, high tech, freakish lethality of the shell, absolute accuracy to within yards of the target... and yet, a soldier "fires" the gun by pulling on a rope/lanyard, like in 1800s era! Love it!

    I still am boggled that the Gustav Cannon was essentially this but scaled up to a ridiculous degree. A cannon capable of taking a city. If only it could move beyond its tracks.

      You've got the section chief, gunner, #1 man... Then there are others who are putting fuzes on the shells, clearing the breach, and they rotate out.

    There's a lot of good weapons built over the years but one of my favorite is the catyusha rocket system accuracy wasn't the best but it didn't need to be it's a very feared weapon for a reason

    Howitzers are something fierce. They were shooting close compared to how far they could reach out to. With the proper clear path, you'd barely hear the round coming in, and it could punch through a tank.

    Serious question: do artillery pieces need to be this big? Surely having a smaller piece would require less crew to work and easier to move around. These seem like they would take hours in to set up and would be easy targets to take potshots at and disable before setup
