after patch this fight became my top 5. Cross slash, flashbang and slideshow were huge problems and now that it’s all out of the way, the boss itself is instant S tier. I was afraid they’d lower his damage too much but in testing I didn’t see that much of a difference. I will say, he feels somewhat slower but only in comparing, I feel like it wasn’t that necessary for the first phase but second phase is absolutely perfect now I wouldn’t call it a nerf cuz what they changed is visual clutter and performance issues. The only actual nerf is cross slash and I’ve yet to see anyone who liked pre patch cross slash. Aside from cross slash it’s just fixes
This nerf barely makes him easy. I fought him a week ago and my god, it feels like the nerf barely did anything. When u watch people fight him in videos, he looks slower cos of the punish windows but by no means does it feel like that when u actually fight him. And honestly, I love that. Tho I do still dislike some of the changes.
He improved a lot imo, his cross slash was my biggest complaint and now it’s one of my favorite moves to dodge in his fight. I still think the camera is too close which makes it hard to see his swords, especially when you’re facing his back or side. Overall I’d give him maybe an S-/A+, he’s not quite up there with my absolute favorite humanoid fights but they made it much more enjoyable imo
Dude, after fighting him prenerf so much, fighting him post patch feels like fighting in slow motion. Not complaining btw, I hated this fight and he deserved everything he got
I find it funny how people are still dodging primarily to the left/his right. We have some heavy programming to change in order to optimize the new version. As someone who has done too many “Let Me Solos”, I love how the Omen attack is now a safe punish as well as how the “send you flying combo” can be punished by a solid hit instead of a quick/after roll attack. I swear. As the only human in the universe who was able to dodge Cross-slash, I much more appreciate the extended punish windows over the position roll of crosslash.
I feel like a lot of people are missing the fact that this fight has always had a fair amount of recovery time between his moves. I was fitting 2 R2s from a greatsword between 80% of his moves even before his patch. I dont necessarily think he's slower. I don't think bloodflame should have the recovery it does because I think it's cool as a mix-up. Other than that, good changes.
I remember how during the no hit run and without an interface before the patch, this bastard would close the distance in a second and constantly chase you like a maniac. And now it's like he's afraid of you.
Eyy thanks so much!!! I’m gonna do a community post soon! I really appreciate it and it was so much fun having people interact more and more and seeing this little community grow
I beat this boss before the patch, and I thought it was one of the best bosses in video games, with the patch I'm sure the fight will be more enjoyable. It seems that your skill has improved. gg
God I'm so excited to fight him in this new patch. His first phase was PERFECT, but the second was just so overwhelming in a way that felt more annoying than challenging.
I have to try this updated version yet (only defeated him pre-patch), but based on what I am seeing here, he seems to be much better now. The cross slash being patched is what this fight needed the most. I also read that they reduced some un-necessary particle effects (and it seems the case during his giant light AOE attack), which improved readability and frame rate by a good margin. I am unsure about the damage nerf; its not a negative thing since it only affects difficulty and not game-desing itself; Radanh becomes more accessible now, especially for players who fought him with a bad build (defense-wise) and for people who didn't understand how useful defensive talismans were during the trial and error process of this fight. I am neutral (more towards positive), with him being less aggressive since it improves readability and allows the player to enjoy more the visual spectacle that this boss has. If all my impressions are correct, I can for sure say that he can become a potential High-A tier fight (pre-patch I would have rated him as Low-B at most). Him being easier should not affect enjoyability, at least for me; as a decently experienced player, the pre-patch version was a good challenge for the DLC finale, but I prefer an easier (but better) version of him over his pre-patch iteration. Quality > difficulty
Your fight was excellent! How do you find this Radahn, is it a bit disappointing or are you more on the side of the newcomers who will discover this version to suffer less?
Thank you! I personally enjoyed the fight a bit more, the cross attack is really fun to dodge now. I’m glad I had my first experience and memories with the extreme pre nerf challenge tho. I guess new players will still suffer a lot, of course most people online find him „way“ easier now but they also managed to beat or even master him before the patch, so of course that’s the case. Still, I don’t think they needed to change this much What do u think?
@@Veloketh Personally, the old Radahn left its mark on me and with time the new one will remind me of his old version and that makes me a little sad.. I already see this feeling through many Players. There are positives and negatives, that's the problem. I can already see my brother rubbing his hands with a big smile at this version, he who suffered so much on the first version.
@@_iRBiS yeah that’s the thing, they changed a lot more than people expected so there’s gonna be great changes and questionable ones. Maybe they’ll actually take some of it back like with starscourge?
Mechanically, the boss appears to be far superior now. I enjoyed the dance with the pre-patch version once I learned the moveset, and I felt an overwhelming sense of accomplishment upon my victory, but I had to reference a no-hit guide to reach that point of familiarity due to the visual clutter, which spoke incredibly poorly of the fight’s design. The cross slash nerf also allows for appropriate freedom of movement for the player rather than being locked into one default position if not using a parry, deflect, or shield build. I still rank it outside of the top echelon of bosses due to the lore/story reveal being underwhelming and will complain about no Godwyn until the end of time.
I havent fought him yet with the nerfs, but what i now really want is more hp for phase 1 60% hp transition is just way too early. You cant even hear his whole ost. One bleed proc and a heavy can get you through it lol Imo they should lower the transition hp to 20% and then have him heal to 50% for phase 2. My first experience fighting him was on NG+4 Lmao that was an experience, but even then his phase 1 felt way too short.
I’m prepared to get absolutely deep fried here but what did they do to my boy, he’s now Now Pussy Consort Radahn, they really didn’t need to nerf him THAT hard, like the frame lag and ofc the cross slash was all they really needed to fix since that’s actually undodgeable unless you roll at like frame perfect timing. Straight up removing hit boxes and getting rid of follow ups for other moves is going far too far imo, makes the boss a shit ton easier and greatly decreases the intimidation aspect of the fight imo
If u actually fight him post nerf, you'd actually know that he's barely that easy. He's slightly easier cos he has bigger punish windows and a better cross slash, but that's it. If this version was the og version, u wouldn't be crying about it.
mfs complaining about godwyn not being the final boss forgetting his spirit's ass was the deadest form of dead to have ever died (I wish it was godwyn)
Idk, I feel the same way about this patch as I did about the Balteus patch. A lot of "intensity" of the fight has been toned down too much. With Balteus and Radahn pre-patch you really feel like you're getting through it by the skin of your teeth. Things like dodging the light rain AOE feel too forgiving now (I used to have to run immediately and jump at the end to get out of range). Only change I can agree on was cross-slash (even then, I think the hate for this attack was a bit much, I liked that it made me usually use blocking or deflect-tear strats). Also, I liked the after-image effects better pre-patch.
Fair, I would’ve been fine with just the cross slash nerf tbh. I’m still disappointed by the AC6 nerfs, at least I got to experience them pre nerf back then. Beating Balteus was one of the most rewarding things I’ve done in a game
@@Veloketh I'm glad I have my 1.0 AC6 physical edition if I ever want to replay those fights at their peak. The missiles in Balteus were so intense and fun to barely dodge (at least Arquebus Balteus towards the end remained untouched, but I still prefer the original over it). The spider boss also got nerfed and made too easy. Always get Fromsoft physical editions. The Elden Ring 1.0 is especially entertaining with how different it is (Godfrey has two healthbars, Malenia has an additional waterfowl-like move where she hops on one leg, etc).

This nerf kind of leaves me confused because what was fromsofts true vision for this boss if they nerfed him like 3 months after the dlc release. The cross slash nerf pretty much changes this entire fight, which is kind of crazy (but understandable).
@Tau_Aquila With how cross slash used to be, you used to have to consistently stick to Radahns right leg so you could consistently dodge it. Now you're free to position yourself wherever. Not that I have an issue with that at all, but it's just very different.
I think they waited until casuals would go away and actual valid complaints would persist so they’d be sure that these are problems that need addressing. Cross slash, visual clarity and performance issues were valid complaints, they persisted 3 months and they are now sure they need addressing
I think it’s great, the cross attack is really enjoyable to dodge now and allows for more movement freedom. I didn’t mind the flashy lights in phase 2 and his damage tho, I think the camera is still the bigger issue since you spend so much time looking up to him while his swords are often out of frame. Overall very positive tho, wbu?
@@Veloketh This patch is good his attacks are more visible and makes phase 2 even prettier, I'm also happy with the speed reduction of the cross attack even if I'm used to the old radahn now I feel like I'm fighting him in slow motion lol but overall it's still an S tier this fight.

God dammit stop talking about godwyn please, it would be just a fanservice move and the worst idea for elden ring lore. Radahn in terms of lore has waaay more sense (and yes of course miyazaki did not describe in the base game the relation between radahn and miquella, that's a narrative error)
@@lucaprisciano5146 Godwyn would not be "fanservice", it would be narratively more consistent with the base game than Radahn, as you yourself just admitted in your comment. If there's any boss that's a fanservice move, it is Radahn. Sorry dude but this comment makes zero sense
@@lucaprisciano5146 radahn can be seen as fanservice too, people always talked about prime radahn (fanservice isn’t inherently bad btw). Like come on don’t tell me it wouldn’t be absolute cinema to fight the prince of death at the foot of the shadow tree or sth as a re-animated puppet king to Miquella. His souls can stay dead if you think it would break the lore (which I don’t think). They could’ve just used Godwyn’s body or surrogates, the entire lore about meshing bodies and souls is so muddied anyways since radahns soul in mohg‘s body just looks like young radahn apparently??? Also Mohgwyn = Mohg + Godwyn, I rest my case
@@Veloketh Yeaah radahn is fanservice, so much that everyone hated the choice of him being rhe final boss 'cause he was "reused" and everyone just wanted godwyn. My critique was referring to godwyn himself, who is often desired, not some puppet with his body (and people always complain, if a puppet was used surely a part of the fanbase would have said: who's this? Why cant i have my real godwyn? As it happened for Gael in tue ringed city)
Can I be honest? Good riddance. A boss relying on visual clutter and one frame trap move isn't a cool challenge, it's just annoying Messmer, Bayle, Midra, Rellana and the Dancing Lion are far better
I'm one of the seemingly few people who fully enjoyed how this fight was originally (okay the cross slash was always bs, everything else was fine tho), but if the majority of people are not enjoying it then it makes sense for them to patch it. At the very least, fixing fps issues is something we can all appreciate lol.
I‘d say you’re not alone here, I’ve seen quite a few opinions like yours here and I think most people didn’t really have issues with his moves outside of cross slash. I might do a poll tomorrow and see how many people are happy with the patch
@@Veloketh would definitely be curious to know the results of that. In my personal, humble opinion I like the cross slash change, very needed change. But besides the massive AOE light attacks, alot of the spectacle of phase 2 has been watered down alot from the patch. That upsets me alot.
yeah my biggest visual issue was never the light effects but mostly Miquella’s hair and the really close camera which makes it hard to see him start an attack since his swords are out of frame
I think most people are fine with the cross slash patch but didn’t want him to be nerfed too much in aggression and damage output (like arguably starscourge was)
@@best_mate456 most people do I imagine. But I often prefer a kind of difficulty that others call unfair while I just tell myself I have a skill issue. Not sure if that’s healthy but let’s just agree to disagree xD
Really great fight! The patch nerfed him significantly, I’ll be honest, while it did fix the 1-2 double slash attack & added a couple of extra openings after attacks like Bloodflame attack & the quick X slash attack, and I fully commend them for listening to the community. However, I feel like they went too far with the nerfs, now the fight feels like it’s in slow motion, some normal attacks have been slowed down which I don’t see the point in that since you’ll only roll them. - The ground slam part of the big attack before he takes off & throws those purple rocks at you, the slam hitbox has been removed which was unnecessary, I loved how it worked before, you just had space it out by walking backwards a bit then roll forward. - The follow-ups after the clones combo starter come out delayed which makes it look janky & gamey, I loved that aggression & speed he had before this nerf. - Light effects, my beloved light effects, they downgraded that so much now but I can understand that, I just loved them, it’s very much a subjective thing. - The nuclear explosion he loves doing when phase 2 starts has also been nerfed, it was completely OK back then. There’s a mod out there that restores Radahn Prenerf & keeps the 1-2 double slash attack like the nerfed one, it just came out yesterday I think, care to try it out? ❤️🎉
Are any of his attacks actually slower outside of cross slash? I did notice the new window after Bloodflame and the short hesitation after the clone opening (which can make you think it’s safe to attack even tho he will usually follow it up). Lots of people seem to share this slow motion feeling, I didn’t really get it but it has also been a while since I fought pre nerf radahn. Is his flashy attack where he goes sideways and forward with a clone a tad slower as well? I liked the light effects before, but if it fixed FPS issues for other players, I’m happy with it. Not sure about the damage nerf, some people say it’s not much but then why even decrease it in the first place Also thanks! Sadly I’m not on PC so I can’t try out any mods :/
@@Veloketh Yes I think there are certain normal attacks feel slower like the one where he does his overhead & then the 2 hit attack (the small combo that doesn’t give you an opening). The flashy sideways attack I think it’s the same speed, I’m almost sure it’s the same. Yeah the light effects changes are OK, it helped a lot of people see what’s going on & FPS ran better. Oh I bet you’re playing on PS5, pretty cool still. ❤️
@@Veloketh Pre patch he could immediately follow up with a regular attack string after most clones and blood slash (while still barely visible due to the light). This made it so intense and killed me unspeakably often. You had to immediately react and it made hesitation defeat. Also sped up the fight. That’s why I loved it.
@@schadowsshade7870 I see, I only really realized it with blood slash, the one where he jumps up and comes down 4 times can still be followed up by multiple combos I think. I like the hesitation is defeat approach but most of the time I just hesitated because I couldn’t see his swords/arms through Miquella’s hair lmao
The cross slash needed a nerf 100%. I dont think the aggression was needed to be neutered though, it actually feels pretty hype once you get used to his aggression
On the one hand, the nerfs are almost certainly healthy for the game. At the same time, I do feel like something has been lost. FS went all out with pre-nerf Radahn, trying to make something that clearly topped Malenia. And they achieved it. He was hard in ways I never even thought a FS boss could be hard. The nerfs more or less bring Radahn in line with what you expect from their top end (or maybe even a little under it). He is probably a better and more fun fight now. But something is off about these nerfs. Pre-patch, it really did feel like we were challenging a god-like foe. Now he's just a generically powerful opponent (mechanically speaking). I'm not trying to gate keep. I truly believe this is a change that is in the game's/playerbase's best interest. I'm just lamenting what I see as the loss of something that stood out in a particularly (however painful and frustrating) remarkable way.
I understand nerfing that move that caused people to lose their minds but in doing so he's completely ruined right because he's less aggressive, much slower and does less damage as well which is unjustifiable and ridiculous giving that he's the final boss to an already difficult DLC and the beauty about Radahn that he was scary and intense but now he's not the same and all because the constant barking from the cry babies
I think the X move nerf was needed, the extreme and constant left strafing just to avoid that one attack was too limiting for a fight with already tight positioning imo. I didn’t really need the damage nerf tho
Wth are you waffling about? The fight is objectively better now. It's not good game design to have a boss's difficulty be dictated by the fact that he has a literal frame trap move that requires ridiculously precise positioning and even then isn't consistently avoidable.

I wouldn’t call it a nerf cuz what they changed is visual clutter and performance issues. The only actual nerf is cross slash and I’ve yet to see anyone who liked pre patch cross slash. Aside from cross slash it’s just fixes
All the people complaining about the patch making him easier would have had nothing to say if this was how he was on realise so shut it
I never thought people would argue about PCR being too easy lmao what timeline are we in
This nerf barely makes him easy. I fought him a week ago and my god, it feels like the nerf barely did anything. When u watch people fight him in videos, he looks slower cos of the punish windows but by no means does it feel like that when u actually fight him. And honestly, I love that. Tho I do still dislike some of the changes.
How much has Consort Radahn improved in your eyes now? And where would you rank him in ER and Souls in general?
He improved a lot imo, his cross slash was my biggest complaint and now it’s one of my favorite moves to dodge in his fight. I still think the camera is too close which makes it hard to see his swords, especially when you’re facing his back or side. Overall I’d give him maybe an S-/A+, he’s not quite up there with my absolute favorite humanoid fights but they made it much more enjoyable imo
He is the worst not bc his fight but how the idea of him being here is stupid , i prefer the old one tho

Dude, after fighting him prenerf so much, fighting him post patch feels like fighting in slow motion. Not complaining btw, I hated this fight and he deserved everything he got
Lmao
Skill issue
I definitely remember some reviewers saying there wouldn’t be enough recovery time to punish with bigger weapons lmao
@@Veloketh everything seems fast the first time you fight a boss, tbh

I beat this boss before the patch, and I thought it was one of the best bosses in video games, with the patch I'm sure the fight will be more enjoyable. It seems that your skill has improved. gg
thanks! I did enjoy it more, but it was also easier to no hit now since you don’t need to fear his cross slash anymore. Still challenging tho
God I'm so excited to fight him in this new patch. His first phase was PERFECT, but the second was just so overwhelming in a way that felt more annoying than challenging.
as a huge hater, I tried it and dear god he instantly climbed out of F-tier to my personal top 5 ever
Follow up attack after clones so slow now i might as well go prepare some tea and still have time to dodge when i'm back.
I lowkey liked his fighting style better before the patch. Now hes so much slower with his combo's Im glad that I fought him before the patch

Still, I don’t think they needed to change this much
What do u think?
@@Veloketh Personally, the old Radahn left its mark on me and with time the new one will remind me of his old version and that makes me a little sad.. I already see this feeling through many Players.

@@Veloketh True, but I'm still a little salty. This guy was a nightmare to fight pre-patch...
Godwyn squad
I havent fought him yet with the nerfs, but what i now really want is more hp for phase 1
60% hp transition is just way too early. You cant even hear his whole ost. One bleed proc and a heavy can get you through it lol
Imo they should lower the transition hp to 20% and then have him heal to 50% for phase 2.
My first experience fighting him was on NG+4 Lmao that was an experience, but even then his phase 1 felt way too short.
Lettttss gooo
POG!!
We need Malenia, consort of Miquella now.

This nerf kind of leaves me confused because what was fromsofts true vision for this boss if they nerfed him like 3 months after the dlc release. The cross slash nerf pretty much changes this entire fight, which is kind of crazy (but understandable).
Idk what you're talking about the fight is basically the exact same with slight frame increases to attack a little more
@Tau_Aquila With how cross slash used to be, you used to have to consistently stick to Radahns right leg so you could consistently dodge it. Now you're free to position yourself wherever. Not that I have an issue with that at all, but it's just very different.
Only the cross slash needed a changed
And maybe visuals lightning effets (that didnt bother me personaly)
This was a bit of an over nerf
the cross slash was definitely not intended, this is how fromsoft probably wanted the fight to be
I think they waited until casuals would go away and actual valid complaints would persist so they’d be sure that these are problems that need addressing. Cross slash, visual clarity and performance issues were valid complaints, they persisted 3 months and they are now sure they need addressing
what do you think about this patch ?
I think it’s great, the cross attack is really enjoyable to dodge now and allows for more movement freedom. I didn’t mind the flashy lights in phase 2 and his damage tho, I think the camera is still the bigger issue since you spend so much time looking up to him while his swords are often out of frame. Overall very positive tho, wbu?

Not sure about the damage nerf, some people say it’s not much but then why even decrease it in the first place
Also thanks! Sadly I’m not on PC so I can’t try out any mods :/
