They are not trying to force Watchtower to accept them back, they are protesting against all the forms of lies, deception and manipulation that Jehovah's Witnesses are subject to in most cases from birth, or when they are emotionally vulnerable. The fact that they are protesting doesn't necessarily mean they rejected God (Yahweh, or if you want to erroneously use the name, Jehovah), or that they are disloyal. It's Watchtower who are not in line with God. They are not protesting because they want to have sex or anything like that. They are protesting against harmful and oppressive practices enforced by the Watchtower organization. In so many cases they are baptized as children who are (practically never) not made fully aware of the extremely cruel and inhumane consequences that can befell them if they later change their minds and want to leave the organization, disassociate, or if they make a mistake and are kicked out, disfellowshipped, or that they would forced to choose between their own death or death of a family member and a life-saving blood transfusions, or that they will be forced to stay trapped married to an abusive partner who physically beats them, never free to remarry unless their spouse commits adultery or themselves commit adultery - risking being shunned by all their JW friends and family. They are protesting for their human rights of being able to leave an organization free of coercion - Watchtower gives no such freedom, but instead they (WT) punish people who leave the organization with one of the most inhumane treatments anyone can receive, which is being stranded from their family and friends, family members who in many cases long for the opportunity to reunite with them, but would never do so in fear of being themselves shunned by the rest of the congregation. There are cases in which young ones are kicked out from their home, force to live in the streets and beg for shelter and food. There is truly no comparison, in regards to the despicable practice of shunning, between J Witnesses/Watchtower and most of other mainstream religions... All organized religions have their problems, but it's harmful and destructive cults, high-control groups, who are the most guilty of using shunning as a way to force people to remain trapped inside, to make people fear leaving the group, even if no longer want to be part of it. About the child abuse issue, of course that Watchtower is continually being more and more exposed as what they truly are: an organization that enables child abuse, and are bleeding millions of dollars in court settlements, through which victims of abuse receive at least part of their rightful compensation. But here they are protesting for all the cases of child abuse the Watchtower is hiding and refusing to report to the police, they are protesting to make them change their policies that facilitate child abuse at a massive global scale, the "two witness rule", based on an erroneous interpretation, that leaves children unprotected and child abuse unpunished. Honestly compare the bible with Watchtower teachings, and see for yourself how much they twist and manipulate it to their favor.
