But you know what ! Someone like me who trashed my back while working and studying to be a nurse,never able to return to my first choice changed professions to banking which surprisingly I loved also . Worked at new profession for 1 1/2 years till back couldn’t take it anymore. These new work environments would have kept someone like me working instead of medically retired. Which I would have preferred. My children would have known a different mom than the depressed at times pray ful lost mom they had after I was done with the blessing of homeschooling the three of them I’m still looking for my place . These need to be produced by the way I was 31 when I retired.
This is a wonderful sentiment, but I have been watching the development of chairs with amazing mobility capabilities since I became a quad over 5 years ago. So far, I have yet to find an actual chair that is both available and affordable. My van alone, and it did not include any kind of driver control, just the ramp system and modifications, cost more for the equipment and install than the entire brand new vehicle. Very little in terms of subsidies and/or Medicare participation, so even if a chair makes it out of prototype stage the cost is prohibitive. Put simply... it sucks. Maybe someone out there has had some positive experience and I would sincerely love to hear about it.
