Hyundai is already a powerhouse in the ship building industry I do not doubt they can build a carrier even a super carrier given the opportunity. I guess their industrial capacity may play quite an important part is taking down prices and getting ships being build quickly. I'd got a hunch that HHI will offer their HDP-1500 OPV model to the Philippine Navy's OPV project, a year after it was selected against Austal's and ASFAT OPV designs that even offered 'transfer of technology'. HHI really knows how to play the game in the Philippines.

both are light carriers. to be a full/fleet carrier you have to be capable of takeoff and recovery at the same time. HHI layout does not allow for it. at 30000ton, it is only half the size of modern fleet carrier operated by UK and China.

I would love to see Hyundai's CVX carrier being operated in ROKN in the future. Compared to DSME's design it looks more appealing. Ski jump and drone landing dock looks essential. But one thing that I am disappointed about the current South Korean Carrier program is that the size is relatively small compared to British Queen Elizabeth II. I hope the ROKN could maximise the size of the current 30000tonnes to 70000tonnes. Also, they can consider to install CATOBAR in the carrier.

Its quite impossible for 60k Ton and above vessels could effectively sailed in this domain. Philipines, Malaysia, and Indonesia could be potential buyer. If Malaysia agreed to buy Korea LCA, it might procure it first aircraft carrier in the next military budget.

I don't understand the thought process behind building "light carriers" They cost a "LOT" OF MONEY, You may as well build a full sized carrier and get more bang for your buck...light carriers are very limited in what they can provide and do...full sized carriers can go in harms way and bring a lot of grief in a short amount of time to an aggressor, and make potential opponents think long and hard about the consequences of messing with the wrong country.
HDP-1500 is Offshore Patrol Vessel. OPV is aimed for lowering the price (so high speed and heavy weapones are not considered) with high habitability and long operating period on offshore.
I know it's like Japanese vessels calling destroyer class as frigate and helicopter carrier as destroyer. Just try not to make provocative for neighbor countries. Lowering down the actual name is another tactic.

Although to be fair, Japanese helicopter carriers had a lineage from destroyers with a large helicopter deck at the stern such as the Shirane and Haruna classes. Think of the Ise-class back in WW2 or the Soviet Moskva class. Eventually the Japanese made a full length deck with the Hyuga albeit still with a decent amount of VLS... before going full blown helicopter carrier on the Izumo if it hasn't already with the Hyuga.

I don't understand the thought process behind building "light carriers" They cost a "LOT" OF MONEY, You may as well build a full sized carrier and get more bang for your buck...light carriers are very limited in what they can provide and do...full sized carriers can go in harms way and bring a lot of grief in a short amount of time to an aggressor, and make potential opponents think long and hard about the consequences of messing with the wrong country.

21knots is slow speed for warship., Almost warship or Aircraft Carrier are maximum of 29knots.
Actually all US warships are all rated to do 30+ knots, which in real world figures is ~35+- knots.
HDP-1500 is Offshore Patrol Vessel. OPV is aimed for lowering the price (so high speed and heavy weapones are not considered) with high habitability and long operating period on offshore.
Its not a light aircraft carrier...
I know it's like Japanese vessels calling destroyer class as frigate and helicopter carrier as destroyer. Just try not to make provocative for neighbor countries. Lowering down the actual name is another tactic.
@@dennythedavinchi3832 The Japanese don't call destroyers frigates though. But the helicopter carrier part is true. Although to be fair, Japanese helicopter carriers had a lineage from destroyers with a large helicopter deck at the stern such as the Shirane and Haruna classes. Think of the Ise-class back in WW2 or the Soviet Moskva class. Eventually the Japanese made a full length deck with the Hyuga albeit still with a decent amount of VLS... before going full blown helicopter carrier on the Izumo if it hasn't already with the Hyuga.
