    Hyundai is already a powerhouse in the ship building industry I do not doubt they can build a carrier even a super carrier given the opportunity. I guess their industrial capacity may play quite an important part is taking down prices and getting ships being build quickly.
    (top views are great ideas, straight down from the car industry obviously)

    South Korea's Defense Industry is Growing Rapidly, I could see them easily become one of the alternatives to some of the more expensive US Defense Systems. I think the US should look seriously at buying some of the New Korean Fighters... or produce under license rather than developing a whole new gen 4.5 fighter, not that they will, if Sig Sauer wins the New army rifle bid US contractors will throw a shit fit, I can only imagine what Lockheed and GE would do if the US bought a foreign aircraft.

    I'd got a hunch that HHI will offer their HDP-1500 OPV model to the Philippine Navy's OPV project, a year after it was selected against Austal's and ASFAT OPV designs that even offered 'transfer of technology'.
    HHI really knows how to play the game in the Philippines.

    Eh... Even I can see HHI carrier will be more expensive than DSME... HHI actually offering full carrier than light carrier, light carrier is actually similar to Amphibious Assault Ship/Helicopter carrier, with the exception it can't actually carry tank, and carry more plane instead.
    It's gonna be interesting to see which one will be adopted by SK navy.

    • @lagrangewei
      @lagrangewei 3 роки тому +2

      both are light carriers. to be a full/fleet carrier you have to be capable of takeoff and recovery at the same time. HHI layout does not allow for it. at 30000ton, it is only half the size of modern fleet carrier operated by UK and China.

    • @Aldnon
      @Aldnon 3 роки тому +1

  • @freedom_seeker06
    @freedom_seeker06 3 роки тому +10

    I would love to see Hyundai's CVX carrier being operated in ROKN in the future. Compared to DSME's design it looks more appealing. Ski jump and drone landing dock looks essential. But one thing that I am disappointed about the current South Korean Carrier program is that the size is relatively small compared to British Queen Elizabeth II. I hope the ROKN could maximise the size of the current 30000tonnes to 70000tonnes. Also, they can consider to install CATOBAR in the carrier.

Quite skeptical on the trimaran as it sounds very similar to the Independence class LCS which was honestly a bit of a failure. It is smaller so probably less sunk cost if it fails too??? Maybe? Also bigger deck is safer to operate thus even UK didn't want to go back to small carrier with VSTOL type aircraft after operating 3 VSTOL small aircraft carriers. Larger carrier with catapult system will have more fire power than 3 Chinese aircraft carrier with ski jump which their fighters can't fly with anti ship missiles due to weight. Also ski jump carriers have to go full speed for lift off fighters thus if their engine has problem, their aircraft can not fly.

India's private sector has the capability to fulfill our defense needs!!! no foreign funding & no foreign grants!!! if your wondering why will the private sector help Indian Armed Forces!!! give me one good reason why they won't!!! Sir, I'm from the private sector since the past 18 yrs I know what I'm talking about!!! and by the way STOBAR or STOL aircraft carrier!!! remember back in the 1970s the IN operated a CTOL aircraft carrier INS Vikrant (R11)!!! during a refit of the aircraft carrier the foremost part of front bow section flight deck was replaced with a ski jump to accommodate the new carrier borne AV-8B Sea Harrier II VTOL multi role ground attack fighter!!! as a result INS Vikrant (R11) from a CATOBAR aircraft carrier was turned into a STOBAR aircraft carrier!!! for the Indian Navy a CATOBAR or CTOL aircraft carrier makes more tactical sense in a real combat theatre than any STOL aircraft carrier!!! ask any IN officer should you know someone in the navy!!! CATOBAR always has the tactical edge over STOBAR, always!!! STOBAR is nothing more than a economical option for navies who cannot afford a 60,000 ton CATOBAR aircraft carrier!!! one more thing carrier borne VTOL fighter jets can operate from CATOBAR aircraft carrier but CTOL fighter jets cannot operate from STOBAR aircraft carrier without major modifications & upgrades!!!

    I don't understand the thought process behind building "light carriers" They cost a "LOT" OF MONEY, You may as well build a full sized carrier and get more bang for your buck...light carriers are very limited in what they can provide and do...full sized carriers can go in harms way and bring a lot of grief in a short amount of time to an aggressor, and make potential opponents think long and hard about the consequences of messing with the wrong country.

      HDP-1500 is Offshore Patrol Vessel. OPV is aimed for lowering the price (so high speed and heavy weapones are not considered) with high habitability and long operating period on offshore.

      I know it's like Japanese vessels calling destroyer class as frigate and helicopter carrier as destroyer. Just try not to make provocative for neighbor countries. Lowering down the actual name is another tactic.

    • @neurofiedyamato8763
      @neurofiedyamato8763 3 роки тому +2

      @@dennythedavinchi3832 The Japanese don't call destroyers frigates though. But the helicopter carrier part is true. Although to be fair, Japanese helicopter carriers had a lineage from destroyers with a large helicopter deck at the stern such as the Shirane and Haruna classes. Think of the Ise-class back in WW2 or the Soviet Moskva class. Eventually the Japanese made a full length deck with the Hyuga albeit still with a decent amount of VLS... before going full blown helicopter carrier on the Izumo if it hasn't already with the Hyuga.
