    Nice cars David. I got the Sears Strombecker set in 1965 for Christmas, black E-Type and red Ferrari.

    Carrera had released a few models of the 904 and the No.66, which raced in 1966, was a very unique one. But read, what Carrera stated on this livery:
    The 1000 kilometre race in 1966 not only offered exciting duels at the Nürburgring, but also another special feature. For the first time, the attempt was risked at an onboard live circuit. For this, a Porsche 904 Carrera GTS was ready, which was decorated with the start number 66 and small Mainzelmännchen (famous cartoon characters) on the outside. The two drivers Paul Frère and Rainer Günzler transmitted the events from the race track with a camera on the passenger seat, which were relayed by a helicopter to the outside broadcast van and directly into the living rooms of the nations watching.
    This is, what Carrera wrote about the No. 21 livery:
    The Porsche 904, officially marketed as the Carrera GTS, was produced from 1963 to 1965. The racing sports car had a clearance according to the StVZO and was therefore allowed to participate and be moved in normal, public road traffic. Between 1964 and 1966, this unique coupé drove in the works team in the Sports Car World Championship. In 1965, the car was shown as a specially built 904 Bergspyder in the European Hill Climb Championship. The 904 was also very popular with many private teams and was also used here in the two international racing series and in national championships such as the German Automobile Circuit Championship in the 2-liter GT class. The Carrera GTS won the 2-litre GT classification in the 1964 and 1965 Manufacturers' World Championships and also the prototype class in 1964.
    The model, designed by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche himself, was also the last car to receive the four-cylinder boxer engine designed by Ernst Fuhrmann.
    By the way, the Carrera 132 Porsche 904 is one of the few models, that has stubby front axxles. It is a quick one, like the Porsche 917K, which also has stubby front axxles.
    The Mainzelmaenchen are cartoon figures, that appear during the commercial breaks and the wheather forecast before and after the news on the ZDF = Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen. The 2nd German TV Program. In the beginnig of TV in Germany we only had 3 Programs until the early 1980`s, when private TV Channels came up here.
    The StVZO is a German law which regulates the specifications and other technical details, how a car must be built to get the go for a license to run it on public roads for instance. Written out it is Strassenverkehrs-Zulassungs-Verordnung. The STVO is the main law, that regulats the traffic, traffi-rules, cars, bigger vehicles, motorbikes, mopeds, bycicles and pedestrians, which participate in public traffic in Germany.
