I love all of Rens music but I feel this one is way underrated
A lot of his older stuff seems to be. Crutch and Freckled Angels deserve more attention too. Hopefully they will get it as more people get deeper down the rabbit hole 🕳️ 🐇

I used to work in the makeup industry and the way women talk to each other constantly about needing plastic surgery is so sad. First time I heard this song I was helping my little girls take down the Christmas tree and I just started crying. I relate to the girl in the song so much.. I did the same thing when I was a teenager.. luckily I survived. I quit working with makeup companies so I could be a better role model for my kids 🙂
I’m a Christian that doesn’t cuss but it’s not going to stop me from listening to good music with a great message 😊

I'm in love with Ren's music, nothing will ever come close. But, this is the first time I've heard this song, the first time watching yourself (binge watched everything Ren today) and the first time I've ever broke down and cried due to a video. This is definitely something I needed to hear, no matter how painful or how close to home it hits.
You two have made me feel seen and heard as a woman struggling and also uplifted me.

I feel you on not believing people when they compliment you. I went from being fairly fit to overweight due to my health issues. It sucks but I had to remind myself that despite how I look that my family loves me, my friends love me and God loves me.
And that’s all that matters!

I grew up in the 70s and yeah,I got beat up for the way I looked too. More than once. I struggled for many years feeling so insecure and "not enough" I didn't fully let go of that insecurity til I reached my 50s(I'm 58). It's sad what society does to us,and I'm trying so hard to teach my 9 year old grand daughter differently. She is SO Beautiful in so many ways,and I don't want to see her self confidence destroyed like mine, and even her mothers,,was........

This is probably my favourite Ren track...just because it really captures the feeling of helplessness that we all feel about our inability to live up to the standards and the frustration that we can't seem to break that system. It's such a slept on track, but it's got a great message (and listening to it on headphones gives my AuDHD brain a massage at times...there's some great funky little effects in there!) and more people need to hear it.

I think perfection is a theoretical thing because it depemds who is looking at something. To one person it's perfect, the next doesn't think so. I know that you can't be perfect for all people around you and it's hard to love yourself under such circumstances but we must try. Trev, do you sleep? You keep using Homo as a reference. So you see Ren as an attractive man. Its ok to say he is a good looking dude and not be worried that you have to clarify its not in a "homo" way.
The one thing i really love about your reactions, is that you're slowly revealing who Trev is to us and that you as a human being are able to incrementally bring you're reality to us. I look for you every day on youtube to see whats next on your list. The reason why is that you're real and honest. Thats why your live streams are growing, and though i give the above advice, you don't need to be compelled to follow it, as its only a little note that you could offend some people with it.

That's the thing you're automatically thinking that a six pack abs is what you visualize as being "perfect". We have been programmed so deeply it's hard to tell where you're thoughts start and their agenda ends, if that makes sense.... Anyway thank you so much for your reactions. Well said about not being sqeaky clean..you are very much correct in that if a message is conveyed in a video and that message hits home then surely we have learnt and been given an insight. ren is being ren by getting it all out there and if anyone of us benefits from his music..his story..his struggles his incredible abilitys then we must feel better about ourselves even if that seems impossible at times.

Personally I'm an atheist but I do respect the basic tenants of Christianity (if not all it's manifestations....it's a broad church, to be fair). Also personally, I'm a (natural) bodybuilder.....it makes me feel good, simple as that but that pressure of comparison, 'this' is some type of ideal that people should conform to, well, that's pure poison......I'm just a freak that likes to have big shoulders, that's my individuality, and if it does comes to Judgement Day I hope I have better than just wide deltoids to offer in my defense!

I totally agree with you about the words, words are neither good or bad, its the intent of the human being using the words that make them either good or bad, like in this instance the F word IMO is just used to express his frustration, not to demoralize, degrade or harm anyone, you can use words that are not classified as swear or obscene to demoralize or degrade others, such as stupid, ugly, moron, etc.. you get my point hopefully. Even Jesus said it is not what people say , but what they do that defines them. You shall know them by their fruits ! 💗 Peace

While perhaps not your intent, historically the inference is that "homo" is bad therefore "no homo" is an important disclaimer.
The video is about the pain suffered by people being judged and dismissed for who and what they are. All of which you seemed to agree with. That's the reason I mentioned it.
Hey Trev. Love your channel. I really don't understand how we as a species came to the point of saying that this word is bad, that word is good. It's just air. If a person never says a "cuss" word but walks by hungry people, is that person "righteous"? If I cuss up a storm but help my fellow man, am I bad? I see the bad word issue as just another way to control people. Only humans would be stupid enough to divide language into good and bad categories. There are no obscene words, just obscene actions. Though I will distinguish between cuss words and hate or racist speech. The former is harmless. The latter falls into the category of obscene action.

I liked your comment at the end about cussin. It indicates to me you're a level headed christian who's more concerned with substance over superficiality.
They are not only trying to take advantage of insecurity they instill it in us. Cut out advertising and brands and you will feel a whole lot better.
I'm extremely spiritual (yes, I believe in Jesus & His sacrifice, but I also believe in the Buddha [Siddhartha], Allah, Krsna, etc.), & I still cuss like it's nobody's business when I'm not around my elders & children. To think that hearing or using overtly colorful adjectives could count as a sin against my soul, that's just not something I think Peter looks @ when you approach the pearly gates, especially when we all have sins that far outweigh the use of unsavory words. Now, if you're using those words to cause another pain/discomfort, then heck yeah, that's some negative karma pts to add to your tally-o-sins, but ease up off my dude for listening to musicians who cuss, it's not going to damage his soul or his chance to be close w/our Creator.
So what kind of music do you do? I love your accent, where you from? I learn something from everyone's reactions. I hate when people put conditions on you for being a Christian. It's out there in the world. I'm very much a Christian & I don't hang out in places where there's a lot of that going on. When someone has such a good message that it bypasses generations. People may listen to him because he just says what we feel & he says the cuss word as a form of the frustration not in like a derogative way like he wants to go F ya know. It just shows how out of touch someone is if they can say something negative about you reacting to this when it has such a good message.
This video was going so well...right up until you felt that you had to say "no homo"...I am a GenX woman, and I've been hearing this since grade school. This is just another brainwashed moment. Why do men feel like they have to say this if they compliment another male?! Grrrrr....STOP IT! Just compliment him and keep going! Let's kill that! Let's normalize just complimenting one another. Just genuine love for our fellow humans. I so enjoy watching your videos. But this is something that needs to go away. Much love.
