「ライデン･ファイターズ」シリーズ3作目となる「ライデン･ファイターズ･ジェット」。これまでのゲームシステムがベースとなっているが、新たな敵キャラクターの登場やイベントの追加、 スコアシステムの要である「10万点勲章」に改良が加えられたことで、スコアアタックにおいての攻略要素もより深くなっている。また各ステージにはレベルが設定されており、3面以降プレイヤーの成績に応じたステージへと進むという、ルート分岐の要素が加わり、一層やりがいのある内容となっている。2人同時プレイでの「ハイブリッドアタック」も健在で途中参加も可能となっている。

Raiden Fighters Jet was released in August 1998.
In Greek mythology, Ixion was king of the Lapiths, the most ancient tribe of Thessaly, and a son of Ares or Antion or the notorious evildoer Phlegyas. Raiden Fighters Jet pays homage to a boss from "Raiden II" and recycles several bosses from previous games in the series.
Level 01's boss is a machine that resembles the twin walkers bosses in Stage 1 of "Raiden II". The Raiden Fighters Jet machine has 4 legs as well, but are completely immobile and act as struts for swiveling treads that provide the machine locomotion.
Level 10's boss is the flying boat in the Train Yard stage of the original "Raiden Fighters".
Level 20's boss is similar to the forest stage giant tank boss from the first "Raiden fighters".
Hummingbird XB-3, the boss of the Bomber Squadron stage in "Raiden Fighters 2", makes an appearance in Level 35 as a mid-boss.
Level 35's final boss is the gigantic flying fortress from the end of Mission 2 in the original "Raiden Fighters".
Level 50's first mid-boss in the giant hover tank from the second stage of "Raiden fighters 2".
Level 50's second mid-boss is the giant tank boss from the Forest Stage of the first "Raiden Fighters".
Level 50's final boss is Red Eye, the true final boss from "Raiden Fighters 2". However it says B-7 instead of XB-7, suggesting it is the production model of the Red Eye in "Raiden Fighters 2".
Phase 1's boss is based on the helicopter boss from the first "Raiden Fighters" with a more difficult attack pattern.
A '2000' version was released in 2000 and runs on cheaper hardware with inferior sound.

「グリフィン・ベース」イクシオンの性能は圧巻。初めて実戦に入れた時は感動した。
ライデンファイターズJET懐かしいー。最後の方は弾速速すぎて無理ｗ
自分が小さい頃やってたときは、大体２，３面で死んでたので、こうやってクリアまで見れるのはホントありがたいです。
The Griffin was my ship. Damn but I love it...those gun mines saved my rear and that front gun has a punch like no other.

有多個機體可以選擇，遊戲系統也很完整，已經有擦彈系統，勳章得分系統，還有更上一層的黃金得分系統
演出也很華麗，花了不少錢投幣

you played them all. RFJ 1 2 & 3 are literally the same game.
Even the effects are recycled. Dont get me wrong I still love em.
Just when I see Shmups developed in this fashion, The first release is always the best one.

Why is there a change from the griffin to another fighter
Ship changes to Ixion once you reach Real Battle stages if you've picked any other ship except the guest fighters
If you've selected Raiden M-II/β, Judge Spear, Blue Javelin, the Miclus, or the secret ships, and if you've selected the Ixion at the very beginning of the game, the ship will not change afterwards

I finished this game but why my mame rom doesn't have an ending?
only japan and china finished in 1st loop game. other country version will be continue on 2nd loop.

There is a new Raiden coming and it looks like a shareware game. THIS is the original which is a masterpiece. Why they put out crap nowadays with less hard work?

ストーリーの進行で、5面（6面）までがシミュレーター→実戦となります
この際に隠し機体（ジャッジスピア、スレイブなど）を使ってなければ、サブ装備がシミュレーターで使ってた機体に準拠するIXIONに乗り換える事になります
