If I won the Lotto in the morning it would be coming to Ireland. Ever since I saw the Amity police one in Jaws I'm fell in love with those.

I had a 1979 manual transmission (3 forward, 1 reverse and a "stagger" gear) K5 Blazer when I worked and lived in the Middle East. This was in 1989. It had had a tough life as it was mainly used Off Road in the Jebel for me to drive to the numerous scuba diving sites well off the beaten track. However, on blacktop it was FAST and was accelerating hard at 100 mph! When I bought it, it was only firing on five of the V8 engine so needed a bit but it TLC. Spares were hard to come by. I got the last "Pressure plate, Disc and Bearings" available. My "Core Plug" gave out (I shoved a Golf Ball in the hole until I got home) and no replacement available so I had a couple "manufactured" at the cost equivalent of $1.00 each! You couldn't go and buy an exhaust system, a new one had to be made up, on site by hand. The pipes stuck out just behind the front doors, both sides. On start up the whole truck swayed from the engine power so anyone talking to me thru the window got one hellofa shock, even though I'd given them due warning! I had an "extra" fuel tank fitted so had Twin 26 gallon (UK gallons) tanks = 262 litres. Fuel at the time was about 60 cents/Gallon and as I only got 8-12 mpg and had lots and lots and LOTS of desert to drive thru, the extra fuel tank made sense! My boots were big fat Bridgestone Desert Duellers, great in All driving conditions. This 4x4 was brilliant, it pulled 2 Range Rovers out of deep sand in sight of the oncoming sea, at the same time!! Rather unfortunate that the Blazers of today are but a mere shadow of these great, awesome brutes! The Blazer, imo has Devolved! Bring back the Brutes!

I only want two vehicles in my driveway. GMC Sierra, and a 1978 Chevrolet K5 Blazer. 😍

    beautiful!
I am becoming more and more convinced that the k5 1972. served as a reference for the russian niva, which appeared five years later in 1977. The appearance of the 3-Door and single round headlights exacerbate the convergence

Tailgate doesn't look quite original, though........or at least the "chevrolet" badge looks more from an '81-'88 Blazer, if I'm nitpicking. Otherwise, nice looking truck.

I'd had a 79 exactly the same except all white with red interior, put over 200k miles on it, unfortunately I don't have the truck anymore but I do have entire chrome Chevrolet name plate/badge from the tailgate.....hanging in the garage lol.....so just saying it looks original to me. And yes this truck looks nice! :-)
